First day went very well! Emma's super excited to go back tomorrow. One little girl in her class already got sick, but I'm thinking it was heat related as they were just outside at recess. Crossing my fingers it isn't anything contagious. Thanks for all the comments on my pics on FB. She's exhausted now from a busy day and is relaxing on the couch.

Sheryl--that's crazy about the bus! Hope it settles down soon. Wish our school bussed, but not yet. However, I'm sure it would cost us an arm and a leg if they did.

Ellen--Happy Birthday! Glad to hear that Ethan settled down quickly. Sometimes it's just better to leave.

Maria--continued prayers!

Kathy--crossing fingers that the house deal still goes through. And hugs to you on missing Kyle. It will get better! Are you still going to baton rouge this weekend?

Gretchen--glad to hear that the beginning of school was uneventful for you. And tell that boy to get those supplies to school! ;)

Okay, I guess I should go find something for dinner.

Laurawe won $2.00:rolleyes1 but that is not what I had in mind.:upsidedow Needless to say I plunked down another couple dollars.

Maria How is Lillie doing this afternoon?

No better:sad1:, waiting fr the vet to call back with blood work, they said it would be in by 6pm.

Leona is doing better so thank you everyone for your prayers & support.

Laura no one won the lottery it's up to 207 million. ;)

Good luck and remember all you WFD friends.

Laurawe won $2.00:rolleyes1 but that is not what I had in mind.:upsidedow

I don't usually play the lottery, but I don't think I have ever won $2 on a number ticket. I did win $500 on a scratch ticket one Christmas...it was a pretty good present!

Dinner was grilled striped bass (pan-fried flounder for Caili...she doesn't like striped bass :confused3 ), a corn salsa for me, corn on the cob for the kids, green beans, caprese salad for me (the kids just wanted the fresh mozzarella...no tomato), and some eggplant sticks that were leftover from Sunday.

Quick hello before bedtime...

Maria, glad Leona is doing a bit better. Hoping you hear good news on Lily.
If you need to talk anytime please call.

Kat, tears are aloud it is still new. Sending good vibes for the house. I am only a phone call away!!!

Ellen, :flower3: Happiest of Birthdays to you my friend! Make sure you pamper yourself you deserve it.

Justice of the Peace cancelled on DSD so they had to move location. It is no longer at a courthouse. They getting married at a place called Chapel By the Sea. It is much nicer if you ask me and she is wearing her wedding gown which she purchased last time they were engaged and never got to wear. I also think now there might be an aisle for DH to actually walk her down.
Poor DH has mentioned a couple of times already he always thought he would be able to dance with her at her wedding. I know him I think he is going to cry big time. He is so sensitive, I love that about him.

WFD- baked pork chops , apple sauce, baked sweets, wax beans

Luke just asked me to clean a spill. Gotta run.

Today was Ethan's first day of Kindergarten also. I went over this morning to take pictures and to be there to send him off. Elizabeth took him and I was so afraid she would really have a hard time but she didn't get the chance as Ethan completely fell apart once they got there. Bless his heart. She ended up just leaving. I am so glad I didn't go as I probably would have scooped him up and took him home with me. ;) She had a few teacher friends call and say that he calmed right down. So all will be ok, just a hard day.

:sad1: Your poor poor DD :grouphug: I am glad Ethan calmed down and very glad the teachers called to reassure your DD.

No better:sad1:, waiting fr the vet to call back with blood work, they said it would be in by 6pm.

Leona is doing better so thank you everyone for your prayers & support.

I am still thinking of all of you. More prayers for Lily and Leona :grouphug: How are you doing?

.

I think this will be better too. I understand your DH, Marisa did not want Buddy to escort her down the aisle. He had always taken it for granted that when she married he would present her to her husband. I think that your DH, like Buddy, had visions of his baby girls wedding day... :grouphug:darn kids!

Dinner tonight will be fish, roasted veggies and some sort of veggie, not sure which yet.

 I have no clue what I was thinking here!

I had the fish, sauted zucchini with parmesan cheese and polenta cakes.

Hi. Remember me? The one who keeps saying she's going to keep up and never manages to? :guilty:

Kathy - that is obnoxious about the house.

Ellen - Happy Birthday!

Maria - Prayers for the dog and the family situation.

*sigh* I forgot what else I wanted to say. The kids come tomorrow for the first day! Because I am a pull-out teacher, I don't have a homeroom, so I won't have kids tomorrow! I just have to cover someone else for a little bit (5th grade) and spend most of the day doing paperwork things.

Well, today is Emma's first day of kindergarten. I'm happy for her b/c she is so excited. Just hard to know that I won't be only "one" in her life anymore. We did get to meet her teacher and her assistant on Monday night and both are fabulous! I'm sure I'll shed a few tears this morning. But seeing her little smile waking up this morning makes it a little better. Will post more after dropping her off!

WFD? Have no idea.

I bet she will love school!

Well Chris was here with Alexis this morning to put her on the bus for the 1st day. Well 10 minutes after the bus was supposed to arrive, Chris put her in the car to take her to school. Bob & I went inside, as soon as I walked to the kitchen, I heard a bus. I ran outside, Chris had stopped the car, because Alexis saw the bus first & was screaming to stop the car. Chris said she unbuckled & jumped out of the car into the street. Luckily not right in front of the bus. Anyway by the time I got there, the bus had already turned the corner! So no getting on the bus pics. :sad1: Hopefully I'll manage to get some when she comes home on the bus this afternoon.

Did she have a good day?

Aimee, did you take the seeds out of the chipotle pepper before you chopped it up? That can help bring the heat down. You could always rinse the chipotle sauce off the chicken, squeeze it dry, and start over with a different sauce. Or else I agree with Nancy--more mayo or sour cream.

Um, that would be a no. They were squishy and covered in sauce so I just chopped it and dropped it in. Didn't think about seeds :sad2:

DH ate it tonight as is - we don't have much left of it - and he said it was very hot but he got it all down.

All set for closing on 9/4!!!!!!:goodvibes

I hope the leak that was found doesn't change this date!!

Hi Girls,
Here are the updates....

Leona is coming around a bit but not enough for her docs or Dr. Maria.
They gave her a pint of blood overnight to try to rinse the medication from surgery out of her system & it just hasn't done much.
I spoke to the nurse on the new floor this morning & her vitals are good. I asked her to review the orders from the doctors for today & she told me that there were none. The last nurse I spoke to last night said there was an order for Narcan (which will reverse the anesthesia meds) but the family refused!!!!!!
I called Greg at work had him call his sister on a conf. call. She said that the siblings refused because they were going to wait for her to be on the new floor. Why I will never know but of course 2 shifts later & a change of floors and there are no longer orders for Narcan. The doctor rewrote on our request. If anything we will know if there are any serious residual effects from her being unconscious for many hours.
When I asked my sister in law when all this started she said noon yesterday. "Mom didn't seem to be breathing right & her color drained". So glad they rushed to the phone to call us. We received the first call 7:30 last night. They had the medication going on a slow drip so hopefully when I call the nursing station in an hour or so I will have more information.

Poor Lily was at the ER for 2 hours...they have come up with no reasons for what is going on. They did xrays, her eye pressure (to rule out stroke) blood that we will have back this afternoon.
The vet said something was wrong but he couldn't put his finger on it. She is on 3 days of "bedrest" & medication. He said no playing, stairs, walking more than enough to pee outside. She won't even consider doing any of that, that was the reason we knew something was very wrong. Before we took her last night we pulled out all the stops to try to make her react in her regular bubbly self & cheese, cookies, crackers, her favorite toy & all failed.
She will not use her back legs/feet for anything. I've made her a little nest on the living room floor & all she does is sleep. It breaks my heart that 24 hours ago we were playing in the yard. I hope I didn't overlook something that has caused this.

Thats all for now.....I will be here.
Thank you for praying for us...now I'm crying. You make me understand what family is. God Bless

Oh my. Lovely of them to include you in the MIL care. I'm glad she's doing better but gee whiz!

I'm so sorry about sweet Lily - I hate when no answers are easily found.

WFDT ~ It's my birthday

Happy Birthday!! :dance3:

Aimee - Still no word on your medication?

Oh there were words  but none of them got me my medication. GI said that this morning, they came in and found a request on the fax machine for them to clarify if I need a loading dose or maintenance dose. GI's assistant said my GI came unglued. He's submitted the information FIVE TIMES already.

Today was Ethan's first day of Kindergarten also. I went over this morning to take pictures and to be there to send him off. That sounds like an even nicer place to have a wedding!

I've had a crazy busy day! But it was mostly good :goodvibes I ate leftovers tonight at work, DH ate some of the freakin' spicy chipotle chicken.

Of course!

Have a great first day!

I want to know how the kid's first day back to school went!

Dinner will include trout. I have some thawing. I think I will stuff it with onions and herbs from my garden and butter and grill it in foil. I'll serve it with a potato and onion packet that Buddy likes along with a green veggie.

Well, Katie survived her first day of Jr. High, and more importantly, she loved it! She really likes all her teachers, and is excited about school! I love that!

The other 3 school age kids have their first day today, and Katie has the day off. All of them will go to school tomorrow. So, really, tomorrow is my first day with just me and Timothy at home!

Jacob, Leslie and Mary are all excited about school as well. We met with their teachers last night, and they are super nice, and seem very cool! We spent some time with each teacher, and got a feel of what the year will be like. After that, we came home to homemade pizzas. Nice!

This morning, I got them up, dressed, fed and they are not so patiently awaiting the time that they can leave for the bus stop. I took some pictures, so I'll upload them and share them with y'all, if you're interested.

Dinner tonight will be hamburger noodle casserole. Yummy, easy, and something the whole family enjoys.

Have a great day, my friends!

Good morning friends,

Marilyn ~ thanks for the corn. I would have never thought to just fry it. We have corn nuggets here and they are delish. I need to know how to make them also.

Becky ~ Beer can chicken? Never ever heard of this. But it looks sooooo good. Care to share?

Ann ~ The wedding will be wonderful - no matter where it is. Your Ron sounds like my Doug. He was a blithering idiot at the girls' weddings. Daddy's are such saps when it comes to their little girls. Love it!!

Maria ~ How is Lily this morning? I have been thinking all morning about her.

Gretchen ~ How is your Daddy feeling? As for Patrick - he'll take the supplies when he needs them. BOYS!!!

Nancy ~ How is buddy feeling? I hope better.

Bethany ~ Have a great first day at school. What is a pullout teacher? I haven't ever heard of that.

Aimee ~ Someday sweetie they will all figure this out. I just hate to see you suffer until the idiots get it all sorted out. So unacceptable!!

Kat ~ I hope you see some sunshine in your day today. It will get easier. I promise!

Lauren ~ Has A started school yet?

Glynis ~ I am so glad to hear that Katie's day was good. I thought of her and YOU all day.

Well Ethan update - I went over to get him this morning and as soon as I got out of the car I heard screaming. NOT good!! He was already throwing a fit. So Elizabeth picked him up and took him herself. She wasn't real happy but what's a Mother to do? I guess he almost threw up he was crying so bad. The principle even came over and tried to reason with him. Elizabeth left him crying. Oh ladies, this is just breaking our hearts. But there really isn't a thing we can do, change or fix. He has to go to school. I am taking him tomorrow and we hope that will maybe better. We shall see. I really need to ask for some good thought here. Thanks.

This is the boys last night of golfing. Doug is really having a hard time with this, but again there really isn't anything we can do about it. Matthew will leave for college Saturday. Oh how I HATE change!!

WFDT ~ I am on my own so a big salad with some grilled chicken will be my dinner.

Sorry this is kind of a sad post. Sure didn't mean to make it that way. At the moment you are all I have. :)

Morning everyone, it's a beautiful day here!

Glynis- I can't help but smile seeing Mary's smile. What a wonderful way to start off a new school year. You all must be so happy for her. The other kids look great too!

Aimee- I made a batch of chili and it called for one chipolte pepper for the whole thing. They have a bit of kick. At least the food didn't get wasted! Sometimes I just use a bit of the sauce and that has enough flavor, I'd love the recipe if you haven't gotten rid of it.

Nancy and Ann- Sometimes us kids are pretty good at ruining our Dad's plans. I know my wedding isn't exactly what my dad imagined, but now he couldn't be happier for the two of us.

Stephanie- glad the first day went so well!

Lauren- I saw your website request a while back, I'm not sure how to send a PM, I only know how to reply to them. I work at a pretty public place so I'm not comfortable posting it here- I know how long I lurked before I signed up! I did google "cape cod pictures" and a ton of great ones showed up. I also have an embarrissing number of pictures from my dog's first trip to the beach- my goal this fall is to learn how to post pictures.

Dinner tonight is a pot-luck end of the summer party at my work. I'm making white bean and rosemary hummus. I'm going to try an eggplant foccicia recipe too.

Glynis & Robin, you 2 snuck in on me.

Glynis ~ I LOVE the pictures. What beautiful children you have. Mary's smile is perfect. Thanks so much for sharing with us.

Robin ~ sweetie, I am right there with you. I do know how to send a PM but my goal is to also learn to post pictures. It can't be that hard, but at the computer I am an idiot. And the funny thing is, I work on one ALL day. So let's learn together. :goodvibes

Make it a great day ladies.

Glynis- Mary's smile made me :cloud9:. The kids all look happy to be back in school. Glad that Katie loves Jr high. It can be a traumatic step up so this is great!

Robin- I did not mean to imply that there was anything wrong with wedding plans being your own, I am so sorry that I gave that impression :sad1:. I just meant that as parents we also have these visions of our children's wedding day and the part we play in that day. They never really happen, adult children are blessed with a mind of their own, it seems :rotfl: Buddy is very happy with Marisa's Jeff too, they are perfectly suited :thumbsup2 So far two of my three children have married and both were a tad unconventional in their plans. For instance, Buddy did get to present a lovely Bride to her Groom. He escorted my DDIL to my Daniel on their wedding day:goodvibes

ETA: Robin: to send a PM, go to a username on the left side of the screen. Click on that name adn a dropdown box will appear. Select "send a PM"

They are all SO CUTE!! I'm glad Mary liked it - Jr High has a tendancy to be tough.

Well Ethan update - I went over to get him this morning and as soon as I got out of the car I heard screaming. NOT good!! He was already throwing a fit. Poor guy!! :sad1: I know that just rips a mom's heart out. I hope he is able to calm down once at school.

DH is playing basketball tonight and I have some crab to use up so I'm going to make a crab cake salad for myself.

Glynis- Mary's smile made me :cloud9:. The kids all look happy to be back in school. Glad that Katie loves Jr high. It can be a traumatic step up so this is great!

:thumbsup2Great way to start the year!

Ellen, poor Ethan. That has to be so hard to watch.....poor guy:hug:

Bethany, I wish you only the best today. Check in later with an update.

Last night we were back in the puppy ER. The vet finally called back at 7 with her blood results & was very concerned. He said her glucose was so low they would have to do an ultrasound of her belly & when I asked the possibilities he said it could be the start of pancreatic cancer. He said the ultrasound would be Thursday afternoon & to watch for seizures! Well not acceptable!
I asked him why he couldn't order it if he felt she was in danger of any kind. He put me on hold said to come right in for more blood work & maybe to leave her in the hospital for glucose. They did her blood test right away & her glucose was normal! He said it is very rare but sometimes if the tech allows the blood to sit to long before the test you can get a false result.
He said to keep her on "bedrest" for 2 more days & see if she improves. Last night I thought she was better, today not so much so the watching continues.....
Greg will be heading to Maryland in the morning to see Leona. I will be staying home with Lily my Mom has to work.
Of course the storm is headed here so I asked Greg to make sure there were batteries in the flashlights........We have already lost power for a day with the tornado last month...Oyyyyyyyyyy. Of course I'm a chicken about being home alone in the storm.
Please keep Mom, Leona & Lily in your prayers.

Dinner last night was take out Chinese...tonight is up in the air because I haven't been able to leave to go shopping.

Tonight we had tickets fro Peter Frampton at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park but that's a wash....

WELCOME HOME CHARLENE!!!!!!!!!:woohoo::banana::woohoo:
