The Week of YES!

Sorry to hear your family got sick. I hope the next day is much better for you all.:)

Oh my gosh! I can't believe you were there during the Norovirus outbreak! We asked one of the volunteers while we were there if we could leave our pool floats for the next kids and we were told no, that they had a major illness outbreak a couple of weeks ago so they were reducing common toy type things. That must be what she was talking about. Regardless, it still seems like you all had a great time. I'm thoroughly enjoying your pictures and storytelling!:goodvibes

Well, you guys definitely know how to make the best of any situation! So sorry you had to deal with a stomach bug (yuck!) during your stay. My middle daughter got pretty sick a bit into our GKTW week (high fever, feeling miserable), but it was a 24 hour thing and she bounced back quickly (isn't it nice to be young!).

Great pics! I do hope you all get back there some day.

well as you may have noticed I stopped writing. Our oldest boy Dakota (17) started having what we thought were night terrors. He woke up and would scream, sometimes run out of his room. He was confused, crying, shaking and his heart was racing. Some nights he would be asleep and wake up and feel paralyzed. This all started when James took a turn downward, so we figured that Dakota, who is very serious, and not very talkative, was having trouble dealing with James' illness. We took him to the doctor, who ordered an MRI and EEG, and labs. I kept blowing off these tests, since we KNEW he was having night terrors. Finally we did the tests, and to our surprise, during the EEG, Dakota had two seizures. Then, his MRI came back and shows he has a lesion on his brain...and has an arachnoid cyst in his brain. So far our DR said he will most likely have surgery, then a shunt placed, but other than that we have no idea. We go see the Neuro on the 10th, so until then we sit clueless. I'm a little overwhelmed right now, we were just getting a handle on James' illness, now to have another child having neurological problems seems a bit crazy! I'm going to try to finish our TR this week-end. I was having the post GKTW blues and reliving our experience was more bitter than sweet, so writing became more depressing than fun. I'm getting over that now, and I want to finish.

Hi Amber, I'm sending you positive vibes and hope everything will be ok with Dakota & James. xx

Hi Amber!!

I had been thinking of you for a while now -- mainly because I too want to finish our TR, and I always thought when you finished, that I would be forced too -- ;).

I am so sorry and heartbroken to hear what's going on with Dakota! Like you don't have enough going on! Hang in there! I know how frustrating neurological stuff can be. I will be praying for your family and for WISDOM for the doctors to figure out what is going on and how to fix it.

Don't worry about finishing the TR -you have much more important things to worry about- we'll be waiting when you are ready! And I can totally appreciate the post -GKTW blues. :sad1:

Prayers and Hugs from your friends in the smallest state to our friends in the largest!!

Best,
Beth

Amber, I am so sorry to hear about Dakota! Like you don't already have enough to deal with ! They say God never gives you more than you can handle, so I hope that is true for you! I will keep your whole family in my thoughts and prayers!:grouphug:
