The week before Christmas?

We are planning a trip to WDW from December 20- December 23. We are staying off site. Has anyone ever had trouble with the crowds during this time and does any one know anything about the parks closing to the people that do not stay on site during this week?

We visited last year from 19-dec to 31 dec, the parks were busy and closed for a time on christmas day, my advise go early , get out bt 12 and go back in the evening

We were there three years ago at that time. We were crammed into Space mtn, I think that is where I first acquired claustrophobia. When we finally got to the front to be seated I inquired about how many people were there that day. The CM told me that MK was at capacity and they were turning people away. Needless to say we will NEVER go at that time again, ever.
My DH, kids and I are going in Oct. We will see how busy it is then....

You are better off going from the Sunday after Thanksgiving until about the 19th of December.

I go the week after Thanksgiving; the stats are that there are 22,000 registered at the resorts the week of Thanksgiving and it drops to 8,000 the week after. No lines, no waits, always a seat in the food court, etc.

I noticed the week directly before Christmas starts to get busy, compared to 2 weeks before the holiday when the crowd is a lot less in my opinion. then again it does matter the day the holiday falls on sometimes. it seems people try and take a week offfrom work and do the trip and try and be there for the 25.

My friend works at WDW and she says it usually starts to get busy around the 15th-18th. She then sees a dramtic increase on the 19th. On the 23rd the Magic Kingdom usually become full around noon or 1pm, so get there early in the morning and prepare for crowds. On Christmas the park usually becomes full by 10am.
