The Wednesday before Mem. Day~ Crowds?

We will be getting into LA on May 23rd, and are planning to spend our first day at DL.

I know Memorial Day weekend probably will be crowded, but will we run into holiday-size crowds earlier in the week? Like the Wed and Thur before?
