Am i safe to assume some of the water rides wouldnt be open during this mild weather? I really hope it warms up so by the time we go in march!

This coming week, the highs will be in the 50s and low 60s. I'm not sure if the water rides will be open, but I would not want to walk around wet in this weather. In addition to the cool temps, it has been very windy. The wind makes it feel very chilly!

They are open in regardless of the weather (except in the middle of a thunderstorm etc).

We used to always go in March and were very ucky with the weather. Hope it's great when you are there. :)

They're definitely open. People just put on ponchos and deal with it.

Poopy? Odd choice of words when it is cool and clear here and much of the rest of the country is under snow.

Today it is nearly 60 in Tampa and is comfortable in the sun. If will probably feel downright warm to someone from anywhere cooler. It will probably be still warmer by March.

The rides will be open short of anything other than a thunderstorm as one of the earlier posters said. I would just layer my clothing and wear a poncho on the water rides.

You will have a great time.

I agree. We were in WDW during Marathon Weekend where it didn't get above 40 degrees the entire weekend. BUT, back at home was 2 ft of snow, 40+MPH winds, and windchills of -20 degrees. So we put our hats and gloves on and didn't ONCE complain about it being poopy in Florida!!!!

Perspective. It's all in it.

Oh, and on the coldest day (low 30's the entire day) we were at Animal Kingdom and Kali River was up and running!

We were at AKL when it was low 40s and we rode (at DS's request) Kali River Rapids three times in a row - there were hardly any people on it so we had a whole boat to ourselves and when we would get to the end of the ride, the CM would just wave at us and let us go around again. I got drenched (and it was cold!) but it was one of our best memories from that trip. :goodvibes

But when you have been dealing with freezing cold temps since Dec you really want to be hot when you go to Florida. You are there all the time so the weather may be perfect for you. I just know that when I go to Florida in the winter, I really want it to be shorts weather. Its a crap shoot and that is why we are going in APril. We have a better chance of HOT days.

I was there last week and the weather was Sunny and windy. Half the week we could were shorts but for the most part I had on pants and my fleece.

I only did MK and HS so I can't answer DW water rides, we did go to Universal and a majority of there water rides/attractions were not running.

Wrong!

We were in Disney Feb.6th -13th and it was pretty chilly most of the time. Blizzard Beach is closed for refurb. Typhoon Lagoon was the only water park open however, it was closed 2 days during our stay due to the cold weather. I don't remember exactly which 2 days it was because we were not going to a water park because it was just too chilly (one morning the temp was 38 degrees with a wind chill of 28 degress and that was at 8 am.) The pools were open because they are heated and DS8 did go in twice for only about 30 minutes each time but he was freezing when he came out.

*Kali was open but there was basically no one on it. Splash was closed for refurb.

It isn't perfect (especially for those of us who are used to it being warmer) and it has been a very cold winter for Florida. This week we probably won't reach 70 any day in Tampa. If you live here year around, I assure you 70 feels cold.

And, as someone who lives here, I hope we don't have shorts weather (by our definition) in April because if it is that warm that early in the season, we we will probably be melting by June.

They do close waterparks due to cold, but the OP was asking about rides. The rides are usually open unless they are down for refurb or closed briefly for storms.

They generally close one waterpark at a time over cold months for repairs, so check if they are both open (if you want to go in this weather!) Water rides are open, so bring extra clothes! It's fine to do a water ride when it's cool, but wearing wet jeans for the rest of the day is awful.

We're going next week, and the forecast is calling for rain on the days we'll be there. Ugh.

It's all relative. I have been to Florida in Nov., Dec. and March. We had great weather all times and yes, I did wear shorts. In MA we wear shorts if it gets above 65. To us, that is warm.
