The way room only discounts work?

I'm still not real fuzzy on this. If you go with a room only discount..can you then purchase the dining plan but not purchase park tickets? Or do you have to have the park tickets in order to get the room only discount??

If you are looking a GP room discount, you have to buy at least a 1 day base ticket for everyone on the ressie in order to get the DDP. The exception to the ticket purchase is if you have an AP, in which case, you can book an AP + Dine package (getting an AP room discount) without purchasing additional tickets. DVC members can also get the DDP without a ticket purchase, but only if they are staying on points and not taking advantage of a room discount. HTH :).

Ok, I just talked to a CM on the phone about this today. She told me that "room only" offers are simply that, just an offer on the room and it can't be combined to make a MYP. You can purchase park tix but not the dining plan. That was the info she gave me. If you go ahead with a MYP then the room only discount will be removed.

We had a MYP last time which included room, dining plan, and tickets. A room only discount came out after our reservation was booked. I called and they applied the discount to my offer. I got a reduced rate on the hotel room and my tickets / dining plan wasn't affected at all. Everything on my paperwork said MYP. ????

As one of the other posters stated, in order to get the dining plan you have to purchase at least one ticket. You can still get the room only rate to my understanding (from our past experience). If you just want to stay in the room and eat oop, you can get the room only rate also and not have to worry about purchasing a ticket if this was your concern.

Hi- I am real sorry to hijack your thread but, what about doing a room only discount & getting tix through the YES program...can you get the dining plan? Thank you:)

You need to call back and talk with a different CM. You can most certainly add tix and a dining plan to a room only discount, but of course only the room rate is discounted, tix and DP are regular price

Now if you already have a RO booked they need to cancel that reservation I believe and re-book it with tix/DP.(if there is availability under the RO discount offer) Perhaps the resort of choice/room type are no longer available under the RO offer and that is what the CM meant?

I have booked "room only discounts" 3 years in a row and had tickets and dining plans added on without a problem. Is there a "Free Dining" offer out the same time you are booking? Maybe there would be some confusion there as you CAN'T book a "room only" discount and take advantage of a "Free Dining" deal at the same time. It's one or the other not both. But if you are paying "rack rate" for the tickets and dining plan that is not a problem.

I'm not too familiar with the YES program, but I think if you get those tickets, you still have to buy at least a 1 day base ticket for everybody (making it a package) if you want the dining plan. Hopefully someone will come along to verify that or give the correct information :).

This is correct. Getting a room discount will apply to the room portion only, but you can certainly add tickets and dining ;). If you look at the current spring offer going on, you will be quoted for just the room, but if you scroll down the page it gives you the option to add tickets as well as dining (but tickets need to be added first in order to be able to add dining).

Yep - this is correct! You'd need to purchase additional tickets for each member of your group to be eligible for the dining plan, unless one of you wanted to get an AP instead of the YES ticket.

I have a room only discount and I have called a few time to make room changes. every time I call, they ask me if I would like to add tickets and dining to the reservation.

You can change the room only to a pkg by adding DDP and at least one day park tickets for everyone in the room. However, if you do so, they will cancel the room only reservation and rebook it as a pkg. Confirmation numbers for room only and pkgs are different. A room only confirmation has 12 numbers in it, whereas a pkg has like several letters, then some numbers, and is shorter (maybe like 9 digits).

The only people who can add the DDP without adding park tickets are AP holders paying rack rate or using an AP discount, people staying on DVC points, or some of the military deals. But even then, if we add the DDP our reservation changes from room only to a ticketless pkg and has all the features of a pkg (must be paid in full by 45 days out, may incur fee for any changes after the 45 day mark, get the luggage tags and freebie coupons that pkgs do, etc). For free dining, everyone must buy at least two day park tickets though, even AP holders and military personel.

Whether is it a discounted room or a rack rate room, doesn't matter. In order add the DDP to any room, you also have to add at least one day park tickets for everyone in the room (two day park tickets to get free dining). The only exceptions to this are AP holders paying rack rate or using an AP room discount (not a GP room discount or a room booked using a PIN Code--then the purchase of park tickets would still be required even for AP holders), people staying on DVC points, and some of the military deals. Anyone using

To get free dining everyone has to pay rack rate for the rooms and buy two day park tickets for everyone in the room (even AP holders, DVC owners, and military personel).
