By the 4th day of our trip last week, my mom was ready to eat off of a 'real plate' as she called it. I looked up some menus online, and then went to the concierge to see what was available for lunch. The CM said that The Wave was good, and they had plenty of availability for lunch. We booked a 12:20 lunch and headed over there.

We had a little trouble finding it since it's tucked away in a corner, but once we arrived we couldn't help but admire the entry with the wave theme and blue lighting. I was in a tank top and capris and felt a bit underdressed because many of the other guests were obviously attending a conference upstairs. We were seated right away, and our server was wonderful!!! He was asking about my DH (who was not with), and we talked about his brother who had recently deployed.

When we were ready to order he told us his favorites which included a chicken sandwich with goat cheese, tomatoes, and arugula and their potatoes wedges. Mom and Dad both had this sandwich and it was wonderful as were the potato wedges!!! YUM!!

I wanted to eat light so I ordered the lettuce wrap appetizers with baby scallops and sauteed lamb. It was quite spicy, but very good!

Once we had finished our meal, we weren't planning to get dessert, but the waiter said it was on him for my anniversary. He also said we were able to pick and choose from the different options they provided. I said we only needed one dessert, and I selected my mix and match options. He came back with TWO  dessert trays!

vanilla-braised pineapple spears (Dad really liked these), chocolate mousse with salted caramel sauce (I was in HEAVEN!!! :cloud9: ), and coconut panna cotta with passion fruit drizzle (I could live without this...the passion fruit drizzle was quite bitter)

zucchini-carrot cake with vanilla panna cotta (yum! very homey and comforting flavor), lemon cornbread with vanilla panna cotta (this would not have been my first choice, but it was very good), and cheesecake with raspberry coulis (again very good...I didn't expect anying spectacular since it was very basic, but I was impressed!)

I would definitely recommend The Wave for lunch. It was a nice retreat from the busy-ness of the parks. The ambience and the wait staff were wonderful, and we loved the food!

Thanks for the review! It's nice to know that one of the resorts has a luncheon seating.
Although we haven't dined there yet we were able to enjoy the lounge area. Very relaxing soft blue lighting.

excellent review/photos of the wave - sounds so good, now i'm going to try and get an ADR for it during our trip (if i can find the time - already have all our ADRs made) - thanks again!

Do you know that your honest review of the Wave is the only one that will affect my decision to try it out? Since we didn't have any lunch ADR's make for our upcoming trip, I would give it a go for lunch.

Well now the pressure's on me! I hope you like it as much as we did. It really was such a nice break from the craziness of the day! Enjoy!

Thanks so much for the review and the pictures! We have a lunch ADR at the Wave in September and now I can't wait! I have only read reviews about dinner there but for our other plans lunch worked better so that's what we booked. That sandwich looks so yummy and the dessert? OMG! I'm going to have a hard time deciding on that one!

Thanks again!

Don't you doubt yourself now! We walked past the Wave while heading up to the California Grill for dinner. We were drawn from its funky blue entrance, but we didn't have enough time to peek inside the restaurant. How big is the restaurant? ADR or walk-in? What do you think?

Yes, please describe the decor and size so I can get a feel for this place!

never say we didn't give the DIS'er's our very best recommendation, armywife! Glad you enjoyed the Wave for lunch as much as we did for dinner!

And you and your DS are in my prayers!

When we went down to the concierge at 11:30, she was able to get us right in for an ADR at 12:20. From what I could tell from her, it seemed that earlier (11:30-1:00 perhaps) was a good time to get ADRs there since it was early for the lunch crowd apparently...??? I don't know if I would just walk in just in case they had a busy day, but you could very probably just get an ADR the day of or the day before without a problem like we did, especially in the non-busy season. It would also depend though on what conferece may be going on at the resort that day. From the looks of the clientele, many of them had come from a conference on their lunch break....

The only complaint my mom had about the decor is that there weren't any windows. They had curtains over windows into the other side of the restaurant, but no real windows. My mom thought it made it feel like a basement.

I wish I had taken photos of the interior. I was shocked when we walked in that there were probably only 1/4 of the tables full. The entry way and hostess station are rather dark, but the main dining room was very pleasant and well lit. There was a section of the main dining room in the middle that was made to look like it could convert to a private dining area with cream colored (I think) curtains, but the curtains could not be pulled shut. There were booths all along the outer edge (some with higher backs than others), and tables scattered throughout the center. It was rather spacious I thought, more so than I expected it to be.

The decor was mostly creams, browns, and off-whites from what I recall. It was a very welcoming, homey atmosphere. I wish I had a photo, but I loved the light fixtures. They were very cool! The service was wonderful. The manager came up to us at one point during the meal to see how we were doing and if we liked our food. We also saw the chef out and about visiting other tables.

Well, from my review I am sure you can tell I am not an interior designer :rotfl: since I can't picture it very well in my head. I was more focused on the food and those TDF desserts!!! :cloud9:

We are going at the end of November into December. We(my son) will be armed with the camera to snap some interior pictures of Wave.

thanks for a review of the Wave...I've been watching all the reviews to see who's tried the Wave. We'll be there 2 weeks from today (for dinner) Love that 3-dessert concept (I really like the bite-size desserts at all the Disney buffets, because you never know what you're going to like/dislike. So I think it's great that a menu-style restaurant is offering bite-size choices, too. )
