The Wave breakfast buffet--why so special?

I've seen several rave comments about this breakfast buffet. For those who have been, can you please say why you think it's so great? It looks like a typical Disney breakfast buffet to me. Is there a specialty item there that you don't see at other breakfast buffets?

I imagine the Boma breakfast buffet has more interesting and unique items. Leaning that way for one of our breakfasts. I wanted to check here first though, as I may be missing something at The Wave.

Thanks much!

It is faaaaar from a "Typical" Disney breakfast buffet. There are several specialty items and the quality is amazing. Now...regarding Boma. Also a great choice. Boma and the Wave are my two favorite restaurants on property, so you can't make a bad decision there. Don't rule out The Wave, though. It's a gem.

If staying at Contemporary, it's a nice buffet breakfast.

I recall they serve smoked salmon (like Cape May & 1900 Park Fare) - and that's where the value is.

Smoked tillamook cheddar grits is pretty special. Ok so they come with bacon on the buffet, but make them for me without the meat. Lots of other good stuff I can eat (as a vegetarian). Nice service. Nice people. Decent price.

I’ve had boma breakfast and the stuff for vegetarians was nothing more than at a Denny’s.

Sweet potato pancakes and pecan danishes. Some people also like the lime hollandaise sauce that's available with the eggs benedict.

It’s quiet. It’s peaceful. It’s inviting. The food is good, some unique items and I enjoyed the calm. I would go there from Poly and GF (easy transport) but not any other resort.

Relaxing atmosphere and the food is great! The Rolled Oats are the best at the Wave for some reason and the assortment of pastries is always good. My wife loved the fact they have really awesome smoked salmon and our kids were able to find plenty of yummy items. We always eat there a few times.

Edit: I always get the buffet but they have a menu for cook to order food as well with a lot of good choices.

Breakfast at the Wave is my favorite. The food is so delicious and everything comes out in small batches and is always fresh. They make some unique items, the service is always great

I thought the eggs benedict on the Wave buffet were not as good as ordering them off the menu. They were dryer and the English muffin was tough from being under the lights.

When my son was a CM and pretty poor, we would take him there for breakfast. He'd eat a plate of bacon, and multiple other items. So you can fill up there if you want. It's pretty laid back, too.

We are looking at doing this on our next trip as we might not do any parks.

It's the only breakfast buffet I've been to, so I have nothing to compare it to, but what I liked about it was that it's not super loud/crowded, they put out relatively small amounts of food so that the food is always hot & fresh (things can run out quickly but are quickly replaced), the quality of the food is really tasty and they have items that aren't necessarily common, like the key lime hollandaise, the yogurt parfaits, the sweet potato pancakes, grits, etc. We also liked that they have mimosas, with an option to get three for $20 (the last is pretty big too!), so if that appeals to you, it's a good add-on.

I found The Wave breakfast buffet to be quite good, but nothing I would rave as much about as I've read. The quality is good and most of all it's a really nice quiet meal, which can be a bit hard to come by at WDW. We ate there when we were staying at Contemporary. We enjoyed it, but I would not go out of my way for it if I weren't staying there.

Nothing special about it - very standard hotel buffet.

Boma is much better. However, I do believe The Wave is still cheaper (the reason we have chosen it in the past..)

I'm a huge fan of the bread pudding in the buffet. Sometimes it is a seasonal recipe, but usually vanilla cinnamon

I love The Wave's breakfast! Super reasonable prices and the size of the buffet is small enough that items are changed out frequently and kept fresh. I also like that you can get eggs cooked to order delivered to your table. I liked the biscuits and gravy, sausage, frittata, multi-grain Mickey waffles, shredded hashbrowns, cheddar grits...I really like that it's never busy. We're staying at CR for four nights in April and I imagine we'll go twice.
