I just want to plug The Wave at the Contemporary but I have to say it was the best meal I had all vacation ( I will explain that)
It was our "off" day, no parks, I wanted to eat somewhere else from the WL. So we took the ferry to the Contemporary to have lunch at The Wave at 12:30. There were 7 people in the whole place including my family of 4. Actually, I like that, having a place all to myself.
I had the crabcakes for appetizer which were totally yummy.
I had the sustainable fish which that day was the striped bass. The plate was loaded with edemame and corn in a lusiciuos sauce. I thought it was a ton of food for lunch. Then for dessert I had the flight of sorbet which was excellant. DH had the same meal but the creme brulee for dessert which was great. The kids had pizza with apples and carrots. About the same kind of quick service meals you can get anywhere.

If someone can tell me how to include a picture in my post I will gladly upload the pic I took.

As for being the best meal I had, well, I ate at the Whispering Canyon for breakfast, at the Crystal Palace for lunch, Chef Mickey for lunch, and here as my table service entitlements. I was supposed to have one more table service but I could not get a reservation anywhere at EPCOT nor at my own hotel the WL. This is what happens when you veer off the schedule with a change in the plans. I lost out on my last table service meal. Oh well, I'm glad I ate at The Wave because it turned out to be the best meal I had all vacation. Everything else I ate was counter service.

I agree!! We loved our meal at the Wave! Good service and good food!

To load a picture you need to upload it on to a host site such as photobucket; then cut and paste the code on to your post (img I think!!) on here and it will upload!

oh goody! We have reservations at the Wave in three weeks and I am so hoping for a great meal!

Going to the Wave for our first TS meal of the trip on 9/14-looking forward to it. Who knows-next year it could become a tough reservation!

May I ask how old your girls are? I was looking at the Wave as an alternative to our VERY LATE Chef Mickey's ADR our first night. Did they have a children's menu? How would you rate it as a place for children (and our first night at Disney?) My boys will be 5.5 and 3.

Thanks!

They do offer a child menu. Nothing grand. They will serve the fish of the day for kids. My girls, twins age 8, ate the pizza which is small. One girl ate both hers and her sister's because the other one would not eat it. On the side they get carrots and apples. I think there may have been chick nuggets but now I don't remember. the pizza wasn't anything special. It looked like it may have been frozen. But while we waited for our meals I took them to the lobby of the restaurant which is very cool. It is a blue room where the girls had a blast pretending they were in space.
Here's a picture of the place. Not crowded at all.

Just back from a week at OKW. We ate at the Wave and I agree that it was the best meal we had all week. We also ate there back in March and it was excellent then as well. That is not to say that other meals we had at Disney weren't good, just that the Wave is in a different league. My DH, DD(24) and I had the filet mignon and it was delicious. My other daughter had the chicken pot pie, and while not your typical pot pie, it was never the less very good. Fingerling or mashed potatoes, both yummy. The restaurant is geared much more towards adults. It's a subdued atmosphere with low lighting, just a nice quiet place to enjoy a leisurely dinner.
