The Walking Dead on AMC

Can anyone tell me how long it was supposed to be between the end of Season 2 and the start of Season 3? I was wondering why in the world Lori was so visibly pregnant in the first episode this season, and she wasn't even showing in he last episode of the 2nd season.

producer in an interview said 7 months............Andrew lincoln in an interview said 8 months................so somewhere around there

They mentioned having been running around "all winter" at some point. At the end of last season they were saying it was starting to get chilly and that winter was coming, so presumably sometime around September/October? And then in this first episode winter was over, so maybe sometime around April or May? So, believably a proper time frame.

Also, Andrea joked to Michonne that she'd been saving her *** all winter, so it had definitely passed.

I thought the premiere was great. It's completely unsettling that the walkers are just everywhere now, and there's nowhere safe. That's awesome.

I also love what they've done with Carl, and his little crush on Beth is adorable. Got a kick out of seeing Herschel curse too, since in the finale he told Maggie to watch her mouth when she cursed.

And I definitely love how they taking the walkers on as a team, with that back-to-back formation, without the guns. I never even considered walkers still wearing body armor. :scared1:

So happy to have the show back!! :woohoo:

Excellent episode, well worth the wait.

The one thing that bothered me was something that someone already mentioned. Why in the world did they bring Hershel to clear the rest of the prison? He is vital to their survival and the safe delivery of the baby. And, he can't be that fast or that great with a weapon. The only thing we could come up with is that if they found the infirmiry he would know which drugs to grab.

I read the comic book updates on the wiki page for The Walking Dead, and I'm really interested to see how much they diverge from the story line in the comics (and I know they will, since they have already done so much in the previous season).

I've been told that one reason they're not following the comics storyline more closely is to keep people guessing. I can understand that.

As for Herschel coming along to take stuff from the infirmary, that makes sense! A lot of the medication that might be there wouldn't mean a thing to the others.

Yeah I don't watch all of that stuff. I was wondering if I missed something on the actual show. Thanks!

Merle is featured in one of the commercials they were running during the marathon, looking very bad*** with a bayonet looking thing strapped to his stump. Can't wait to see him again!

I must have missed that!

Looks like I'll be following this thread more closely from now on.;)

What happened to merle?..I cant remember.

I was also going to mention that I bet Merle will not approve of Daryls relationship with Carol either. I am concerned about what having Merle back will do to Daryls character, I love who he has become, I'd hate to see him go back to what he was at the beginning.

Same here. Daryl has become my favorite character. Lori, on the other hand, is my least favorite. Last season, it was Carol because she just stood there and didn't go after Sophia. I like how Carol has toughened up. I think that Rick changed after shooting Sophia.

Merles story was interesting to me. They handcuffed him to the pipe at the top of the building that was being overrun by zombies because he was being belligerent and rude. When it was clear that they had to flee, they tried to let him free by tossing him the key to the cuffs as they were escaping. They key slid down the drain grate and they were forced to leave Merle chained to the pipe. They went back to look for him later and it was evident that he hacked off his hand to free himself. We never found out what happened to him.

See I thought they would be bringing him back in "visions" for Daryl. Remember when he "saw" him at the river. So now he really is still alive...... hmmmm interesting. I have to say that I love the prison angle.

in the hallucinations.....Merle had both hands............but in the previews he has the blade thingy attached to his stump....so HE'S BACK................

are u sure Morgans coming back??? i heard it might be his son isntead....

Nope, definitely Morgan. The actor was seen several times during shooting. I am glad they're going to tie that up, because I've been wondering about him and his son for so long!

As for killing them being low on ammo, the walkers immediately go after anything alive. All they had to do was lure them toward the fence and pop them with the pole or knife or something. That would have saved on ammo, and then they could have walked into the courtyard at their leisure. But it makes for more exciting TV, I guess. :)

I do think that Daryl will probably toughen up a little when he reunites with Merle, and he will have an inner struggle over where his allegiance lies-- with his new or old family.

What I loved, was everytime there was a big battle with the walkers, Rick was always yelling "Daryl"! He never yelled for anyone else, but he was contantly yelling Daryls name LOL.

Oh, man I had no idea there was a TWD thread. Gonna have to go back and read the whole thing. I missed ALL of season 2 but AMC had a marathon this past weekend - I watched almost the whole first and second seasons straight through. :bitelip: <--- bleary-eyed from watching too much tv all at once! :rotfl2:

I did watch the first episode of season 3 but I missed the last 2 or 3 episodes from last season. Can someone fill the gaps in for me, please? I saw where the walkers were found in the barn and Shane opened the door and they were all killed. I saw where .... can't remember his name - the farmer/veterinarian, Rick and Glenn were in the bar and were attacked by those guys; they took one hostage; planned to release him but wound up taking him back to the farm to be interrogated.

1 - why did they leave the farm?
2 - what eventually happened to the kid/hostage
3 - what happened to Shane?
4 - how did Dale die? (Nooooooo!!! he was my favorite! :sad1:)
5 - how did Andrea get separated from the rest of the group?
6 - why is Rick so cold to Lori right now?

I've "discovered" that TWD is covered on RCN's Video on Demand so I won't be missing any of season 3's episodes. :cheer2:

SPOILERS If I remember correctly:rotfl2:

1 - why did they leave the farm? The onslaught they brought attracted zombie after zombie so they had to run for it- it was ugly. Watch the last episode to get all caught up

2 - what eventually happened to the kid/hostage hmm I think Shane shot him?

3 - what happened to Shane? You really want to know? I think .......Rick and Shane went out into the woods to look for I think the hostage? It was a ploy by Shane to get Rick away from the group so he could kill him. - well somehow Carl followed them and was watching from the distance. Rick figures out that Shane has lost it- going nuts and before he can kill Rick - Rick shoots Shane- I think Rick got shot too- BUT... Freak city! Shane goes Zombie! and Carl ends up killing him. :scared1:
4 - how did Dale die? (Nooooooo!!! he was my favorite! :sad1:) He's not dead yet.
5 - how did Andrea get separated from the rest of the group? I don't remember - she was pissed about stuff but I don't think she stormed off.

6 - why is Rick so cold to Lori right now? watch the last episode. He admits he shot Shane and she goes nuts on him- not believing the zombie part all kind of falls apart. He gets upset about the baby maybe not being his...... But I think her questioning him was the last straw for him. After he shoots Shane he changes.

1 - why did they leave the farm?It was overtaken by walkers
2 - what eventually happened to the kid/hostageShane took him into the woods and killed him. But he told everyone that the boy jumped him and took his gun. Shane wanted this boy dead from the get go.
3 - what happened to Shane?Shane lured Rick out into the woods "looking" for the boy that "jumped" Shane. Shane just wanted the opportunity to kill Rick. Well, Rick figured it out, and in the end, killed with by stabbing him with a knife. Shane comes back as a walker and Carl shoots him to protect his father
4 - how did Dale die? (Nooooooo!!! he was my favorite! :sad1:)Out in the field he gets attacked by a walker. He is still alive, barely. Daryl, I think, ends it by shooting him.
5 - how did Andrea get separated from the rest of the group? When the walkers took over the farm, people got separated. They were concerned about Andrea, but they had to go.
6 - why is Rick so cold to Lori right now?My guess, maybe because Lori could be carrying Shane's baby:confused3
