BRAVA! I honestly never thought of that as a possibility until you mentioned it a few episodes ago. It looks like she was bitten on the neck/shoulder area.

I was really hoping Shane wasn't going to succeed in getting that barn door open. I wanted to see how they were getting those walkers in the barn without them all escaping. Drats!

I was telling DW that they have played the "finding Sofia" storyline as far as it could go. I guessed they would find her either dead, alive, or as a walker.

Yeah, but it never occured to me she would have been in the barn.

Oh, and I rewatched the episode and the rainbow on the shirt is a half rainbow, so I think it is safe to say Sofia is no more.

Ok, I am confused. Are you talking about Sophia? Because from what I saw tonight she was a walker and they shot her. Or do you mean the girl that came out of the barn was perhaps just a girl who looked like her?

It's very likely that the walker was Sophia, but I wouldn't be totally surprised to see her found alive and well in a future episode.

They're also explaining that it was Otis who put the walkers in the barn, including Sophia. That was confirmed in the preview clip they showed during Hell on Wheels. Herschel had no idea she was in there.

I looked at that spoiler earlier but it still upset me so much when I saw it. So much that I think I am not watching anymore. I hate that they turned Sophia into a walker. Grrrrrrrrrr!

I'm watching the Talking Dead recap show on AMC now and they're interviewing the writers. It was definitely Sophia.

They're also explaining that it was Otis who put the walkers in the barn, including Sophia. That was confirmed in the preview clip they showed during Hell on Wheels. Herschel had no idea she was in there.

Last nights show was really disappointing to me. All week AMC has been hyping up the "mid-season finale". Don't miss it! Most shocking episode yet.. And I really didn't find it that shocking. Even if I didn't see the spoiler photo I wouldn't of thought that was the most shocking episode.

Now that they know what happened to Sophia I'm hoping the show will move on.

Really great episode. I'm a fan of the comics, and have my small complaints about the deviations, but the Sophia "turn" was perfect in light of the confrontation going on at the farm.

We have Shane & Co. saying they are NOT people anymore, but when they see Sophia, it suddenly casts light on Hershel's opinion of not wanting to "let go" because they are still their loved ones, and walking around. The world they are now living in is not black and white, it is just a completely muddled shade of gray.



This is what the zom-poc would truly look like, and this is why I'm glad this is being presented as a series. Zombie movies are fun, but 90 minutes is not enough to convey the full gravity of such a situation.

Totally agree with this. Excellent episode. There are alot of "gray" areas here that they are dealing with and I am enjoying every minute of this ride.

I don't know what to say about last night's episode. In a way I am glad that Sophia was "found" because it really was starting to drag on. I felt so bad for her and it really wasn't what I expected at all. When they showed the feet of the last walker coming out of the barn, I thought it was going to be Hershels wife. I feel so bad for Sophia's mom but I hope it does move on in February and we start to see some more action.

I didn't want to be right about Sofia being in that barn. My family thought I was the crazy one for even going there. I kept telling them that EVERYTHING has come out of those woods. Even a freaking horse! Sofia was dead. Or worse, she was a walker. We got our miracle. Carl survived that gun shot. The moment he recovered I knew Sofia wouldn't make it.

Last nights show was awesome. I loved how Rick wanted to understand Hersels reason for wanting to keep the walkers. Hersel didn't have it in him to kill his own. But the moment Sofia came out Shane didn't reach for the gun, but Rick did. I LOVED IT!

Lori. Can't stand her. But someone clarify. Does Rick know the whole story about Lori and Shane? Does he know that Shane could be the father? He seemed so calm about the whole thing.

Exactly. Listening to the interview with Robert Kirkman and the makeup guy (ugh, I can't remember his name) they were saying how they purposely didn't do the makeup on the zombies in the barn too brutal because they wanted to at least leave a glimpse of the people they were so the audience could grasp that these were people that meant something the Herschel's gang.

They also mentioned that they would have known earlier that she was in there if Shane hadn't let Otis die, since Otis was the only one who took the walkers to the barn and could have told them she was in there. So that makes it partially Shane's fault that the search for Sophia went on and on the way it did.

As far as the little girl who played Sophia, they said that she was a trouper for the makeup job they did on her. The 'zombies' all have to take this colored mouthwash to make their mouths look 'dead' and it tastes really nasty, but for her they made it into different flavors so it wouldn't bother her as much. Apparently she told her mom during the first season that she loved doing the show and she hoped they wouldn't turn her into a zombie.

I enjoyed last night's episode and the Talking Dead was good too. I can see why they drug out the search for Sophia now. There was definitely a lot of drama when she came out of that barn.

I wonder...now what? Herschel will of course be angry. Shane is a wild cannon.

I agree, the episode was very good. Sad that they turned Sophia into a zombie, but if it had been any of the adults in the group, it would not have had the same impact. I view this episode also as a turning point for Shane.

I wonder what will happen to Shane now. People are standing up to him. Dale told him off. The group was begging him not to open the barn doors. Until now, he has been all gung ho about killing the walkers, but the moment one of the walkers was their own, he became frozen. Maybe the ice is thawing and he is coming to his senses? Will be interesting to see. For sure, Lori has put Shane in his place when it comes to Carl. Rick does know about Lori and Shane. When she threw up the Morning After pills and Rick discovered the empty packets, he confronted her and she confirmed she was pregnant. He asked her if there was anything else he should know and she said "Shane and I" and then Rick replied that he knew......he should have known because she thought he was dead. Excused it on the fact that the world was messed up,etc. He took it really well and is aware of the possibility that Shane is the father, but I think he is just trying to be level headed knowing it is impossible to behave as one would if the world had not gone to crap. Then, in the latest episode, he told Shane that Lori was pregnant. Shane congratulated Rick on the baby, but he had this cool sort of grin on his face and later confronted Lori, where she put him in his place again and said it was Rick's baby and even if it wasn't it still wouldn't be his (Shane's) baby, because the baby would be raised as Rick's. So, in this episode, Lori definitely made it clear to Shane that her children are off limits to him.

From the previews, Hershel is not a happy camper. My immediate thought during the barn shooting scene was that Hershel was going to have a heart attack. I thought....great, Shane has indirectly killed the only person who can help them if they become injured. I wonder if all the noise from the gun fest is going to attract walkers in the immediate area. What they need is to find a gun shop and get gun silencers. I really hope now they will leave the farm. I can't wait for February.

They really need to show more of T-Dog and the man and son from season 1 episode1.

I didn't realize we had a WD thread here!! Never read the Walking Dead, only know the tv series.

I enjoyed last night's episode. I thought that final scene was great. Yes, some of us may have seen it coming, but it was still well done. Even though I thought Sophia was in the barn, there was that moment when the last walker fell that I said to myself, "oh, wow. She wasn't in there. Maybe she's still alive." Part of me wanted her to be found safe, and then just as I let myself hope, out she came. That moment really highlighted the juxtaposition of the Hard-line view of Shane vs. the compassionate, yet unrealistic view of Hershel. In that moment, Rick demonstrates that killing a loved one that has become a walker can be an act of compassion.

Lastly, just a comment on the actor who plays Rick. When I watched the very first episode, I said, hey, that's the guy from "Love Actually." Now, halfway through season 2 and on Saturday night "Love Actually" was on tv. I was surprised that I had to make the connection again. But I guess that's the sign of a good actor. He made me forget that I knew who he was.

Now, halfway through season 2 and on Saturday night "Love Actually" was on tv. I was surprised that I had to make the connection again. But I guess that's the sign of a good actor. He made me forget that I knew who he was.

I watched Love Actually for the first time the other night and I never made the connection. Just now I did a search for movie stills and he even looks the same. Amazing how I missed that one. Did he have an accent in Love Actually? I can't remember. If so, maybe that is what threw me off.

I kept half-expecting Shane to threaten to kill Hershel and his family and take over their farm last night. I have read enough online to know that's probably not how this is going to play out, but my son and I both agree that it's one way it could have been written.

Did anyone else think Shane was looking for the guns to kill Rick? I really thought he was going to take him out of the picture! When he found Dale I thought he was going to kill him also. I was really hoping Dale was going to pull the trigger and kill Shane, that would have been a shocker!

If you want to see Shane in a different light, watch the first two episodes of the series "The Pacific", he has a minor role in the miniseries.

I'm not taking shots at anyone here....just want to make a comment about the search for Sophia....

I now find it refreshing that a television show will make the mystery last more than a few episodes these days and yet when the show does, what you typically hear at the watercooler is "oh why won't they just find her already" and "that story line has gotten annoying." I think we're so impatient these days....we want instant answers, etc.

By contrast, on Lost, I think it became clear that there was no plan, or at least there was only a loose plan. That show meandered sometimes, over a number of seasons, and at times it really felt like because the show didn't know where it was headed, the feelings of impatience for the viewer somehow felt more valid.

On the one hand, what a sad surprise that Sophia was in the barn. On the other hand, of course she was in the barn. That moment where Rick stepped forward and mercy killed her was still powerful and meaningful and in my opinion worth the wait.

P.S. I've not seen or heard too many people giving Herschel hell for "freezing" in the moment and not doing whatever he could to stop the massacre. Not that he could have, but he froze - and watched in horror, unable to compel himself to do anything at all.

I was actually hoping that Andrea, after Dale's speech about not knowing who Shane really was, would come upon Shane threatening Dale, and she'd be the one to kill Shane. Would've been great.
