I called SW today and i spoke to a very nice man named phill. I asked him like I have been doin often when the new schedule opens. He said hold on let me check,WHAT i said to myself surprised at his response. I could hear him typing quickly, In a few moments he came back and said it looked like it would be opening July 15 give or take a day he said. Well we'll see but this is def the best response i have ever gotten before. Usaully get the answer i have no idea. We will see i cant wait.

I think the reservation people have started saying things like this just to get people to stop calling and asking them WHEN !!! :confused3

Hi, Does anyone know the answers to these SWA questions:

1. Confused as to which rate to book for best price. Is it ever beneficial to book the Internet One-way as opposed to Promotional Fares and Fun Fares?

2. I think someone mentioned Sunday flights being more expensive than other days to fly, but from the charts shown, all days look like they are created equal. Am I missing something?

3. I guess this is a similar question to #2 -- Is it wise (as far as prices) to book on certain days as opposed to others?

Thanks a bunch,
Tink

:confused3 This me too!!! When are those dates going to be released ??? Come on southwest!

How many visits today?? 1...2....3...4.... ;)

I'll take a stab at these:

1. Confused as to which rate to book for best price. Is it ever beneficial to book the Internet One-way as opposed to Promotional Fares and Fun Fares?
<just book the cheapest fare you can, Internet One-way, the others will cost you more money for the same seat>

2. I think someone mentioned Sunday flights being more expensive than other days to fly, but from the charts shown, all days look like they are created equal. Am I missing something?
<Sunday flights are more busy, meaning that they will offer less seats at the cheapest rate, since more people want to fly>

3. I guess this is a similar question to #2 -- Is it wise (as far as prices) to book on certain days as opposed to others?
<you can check other days, but if you buy your tickets when they first become available, you odds will be very high to get flights on the days you want to fly. if you fly out and back on Tue/Wed/Thurs, more seats will be available at the cheapest fare, since these are low traffic days.
Note that AirTran sales always exclude fridays and saturdays.

Thanks so much for the helpful replies, Tony. :)

Interesting... I am wondering why Air Tran sales do not exclude sundays as well. I thought Sunday was a busier travel day than saturday. Ah, the mysteries of air travel.

Tink

ps. Is it safe to go to bed now? Or can we be dinged in the middle of the night?

We were waiting for November as well. I called and SWA said it will probably be July 15th.

Couldn't risk it and went with USair.

It is really a crapshoot with SWA :confused3 I sorta understand their marketing strategy, but it makes for a stressful time for us "waiters"! I have NEVER waited this long to book air to Orlando. I only hope it will be worth ($$) the wait....

I was going to wait for SW to open up the schedule for Feb/Mar but thanks to a post on another thread by a DISer I got Delta for $127.79 per person! That was cheaper than the DING prices I've seen and now I don't have to wait for SW! I love the DIS! :cool1:

Maybe we should all call them up and let them know that this business practice of theirs is costing them money and customers!

Instead of calling and saying WHEN, we should be calling and saying SORRY, we have booked on another airline. That should get some attention.

I e-mailed them in April, asking when November would open up. I was told back then it was tentatively scheduled for JUNE 9th. I got antsy and decided I couldn't wait that long and booked with US Airways, $ 176 PHL to MCO, same price as last year. Not great but acceptable. Am I glad I didn't wait, I can't believe they are not booking yet.

Good luck to all of you still waiting.

I just called SWA this morning and the customer service rep I spoke with (Julie) told me that they haven't even been notified of when they will be released, leading her to believe that it will still be awhile.

:(
