We made it!

Look for my nephew in the background, by the time we got to SOG, Mom had had enough of the skateboard. Otto had to put it away for most of the rest of the trip…

AJ & Britt, Happy to be here!

When I got out of the car, I kept hearing a black bird but couldn’t find him…
look below to see why;)

I could hear him, but couldn’t quite see him

About 4pm we arrive at Shades of Green for check in…

We let bell services take our luggage and parked on the 2nd floor of the garage…
we then took the elevators up to our real room-
we were told 2nd floor and the suites are on the 4th floor

If you look really close, my hubby’s on our balcony.

There’s a runway down to the elevators

These hallways are loooooong! We have to walk this length 4 times to get to our room!

This is where the front closet, the safe, a sink & refrigerator and storage cabinets are…but alas, no microwave. The guys eventually went to the store and got fruit, snacks, water, soda & beer. We used the fridge and our cooler for our refrigerated items. It worked well considering it kept Britt’s chocolate milk cold for 2 days at a time.

And our view of the golf course from our balcony…

Both couches pull out and there is a “Murphy Bed” in the wall to the right

There are actually 2 bathrooms. Each has a double sink area and a separate tub & commode area. Both have marble counter tops and wrought iron light fixtures. I had recently stayed at the Grand Floridian with a friend and could easily compare the suite to the GF rooms.

The guys made themselves right at home

We have reservations at the Ohana’s at the Polynesian for dinner so shortly after we arrive we’re off to Ohana’s! We actually arrived about 30 minutes early, so we wandered the shops and checked out the courtyard.

Dinner was excellent!

Gloria Estefan came in before we finished, Mom was the only one brave enough to go meet her!

After dinner we went out back to see if we could see MK’s Firworks

The kids were a little hyped up

It was actually chilly that first night…we saw the light parade and headed back to the room for some much needed rest.

Next up: To Universal!

Great photos! And how cool that your mom got to meet Gloria Estefan!

Shades of green looks really nice. great pictures and it looks like you had a great time.
Tara

A&H's Mom: LOL...we sat for about 20 minutes trying to decide if it was really her or not but no-one would go up! Mom finally said "I'm going" and I quickly ran up behind her to get that shot...

Tatatink: SOG really is nice, I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

~Thank you both for the compliments~

Great report so far, and awesome pics! I never did get any pictures of the resort.. missed the ball on that one. We checked in to SOG on 12/4... wonder if we saw you at some point during our stay!!

Hollyjoy:

I am happy to share...SOG is huuuge! There were a few DISfamilies booked to stay at SOG the same time we were there, I assumed I might see some...but alas did not.

Where at SOG did you stay? We were in the new wing on the 4th floor.

Thanks for the start of a great trip report. The pics really bring it to life.

We cruised with Gloria Estefan last year during New Years. We were all in the latin party room for New Years eve. No one really could get that close to her. She had her entire entourage there. But after midnight, she came out on the dance floor and had a great time. She seemed like a really nice person.

good for your mother to go and meet her.

shelly

It's neat how something as seemingly small, as a star being in the room, can make happy memories:)

We weren't sure it was her cause she was in jeans and a pony tail and had no entourage around her...just the family.

I am so glad I was directed to this thread! Thank you for the great pictures of SoG. Even though we will only be there for 2 nights I am starting to get psyched up!!!!! :goodvibes

Thanks for the photos! It's so hard to find any of SoG, I don't think I've ever seen many at all! Thanks for satisfying my curiosity!

Thanks so much for posting those pictures! I loved seeing Shades of Green, and your pictures of O'Hanas are great... I haven't seen any yet.

Your family looks so happy and fun!

Thought I would bump this again because of the great pics! :earsgirl:

Sounds like a blast! But what an itinerary!! Bet you needed downtime when you got home. I am going for one day on April 1 with 6 others. We are staying at SoG on March 31 and April 1 and I am leaving on April 2. This was an unexpected trip as I am in Florida anyway and happened to find an opening at SoG. :cool1: We plan dinner at Ohana's on Thursday, then on Friday - Mk at 7 am, lunch at Chrystel Palace at 11:30, afternoon at Epcot, then back to MK to close park down at Midnight. I'll sleep on the plane! :cloud9: :cloud9:
