The Void - what if you freak out?

Will they come in and get you? What if you get motion sickness and just can’t finish the experience? A roller coaster is over pretty quickly - this lasts 15 minutes. My friend gets motion sickness, but she was glad she did Flight of Passage - even did it twice even though it did affect her a bit ...

I get motion sickness on lots of rides, but The Void didn't bother me at all. I'm also prone to panic attacks when I feel claustrophobic but again, I ended up being fine. The experience itself only lasts about 15 minutes and yes, if you're having problems you can lift your visor and raise your hand and they'll come get you. They'll tell you what to do while you're suiting up. Honestly the only time I got freaked out was when you have to step onto a skiff that makes it seem like you're super high in the air. I had to keep reminding myself there was concrete underneath me!

I don’t know, but I wouldn’t sweat it. There are still plenty of spots open for this week - so I don’t think they sell out in advance. A fre days ahead should be fine.

I don't see any reason you wouldn't be able to.

I think the Void should generally be fine for motion sickness, since you can just close your eyes or lift the visor, and there's not *that* much that moves, iirc. An elevator, and the "skiff" (which...yeah, I loved it, but it was kinda freaky. You KNOW that really there's probably, like, an inch of a drop, but boy howdy does your brain think it's a long fall into some lava).

We loved this when we did it. I will sometimes get motion sick on certain VR games on the Playstation, but didn't have any problems with this. It was different to me because you are actually moving and not just simulated forward movement like the VR. If I remember they did say if you are having any problems to raise your hand in the air and someone will attend to you.

Yes, you absolutely can. Remember that with the helmet down you see what they want you to see, but the fact is there are some attendants always watching you. My mom got a little turned around and walked through a "wall" ending up off the course. An attendant calmed her, raised her visor, got her back in position and back into the game easily. If you have do have a panic attack, I would just stay put, close your eyes, and lift the visor. They will come attend to you very quickly.

We went about a week after it opened and after I had put all the equipment on and was walking through the experience, I heard a gentle voice behind me letting me know my helmet needed to be adjusted and felt someone adjusting it for me. It was actually very reassuring to know a staff member was watching us as we went through the experience as I kind of freaked out in a couple of the scenes and was happy to know someone was there to help if need be. I got through it and am doing it again with friends in a few weeks. I just had to keep reminding myself it wasn't real!

Just a quick note, when you walk off the course, the visor displays an error as it does not know what to render (may have been an all black screen). This is why they immediately guided her as she couldn't see at all.

We did it last year (great experience by the way). My daughter wanted to quit about 3 minutes before it was over. We both lifted our visors, and there were employees all around us, keeping an eye on everyone. They led us out. It's a big warehouse and you are actually a lot closer to other groups than it would seem.
I get motion sickness on Star Tours and the Simpsons, but I was fine for this.

This post got me thinking. Would this bother someone with fear of heights issues? My husband can handle small roller coasters like 7DMT and the drop on Splash mountain, but he almost had a panic attack on Soarin'. I think Soarin' was a problem because he was just sitting there with just a belt strap and his legs were dangling.

Probably not? You're never dangling or more than an inch or so off the ground.

^ 100% this. I easily get motion sickness. I especially get it watching a screen. I was a bit worried myself but since I understood I could just flip up my visor if the game made me feel at all sick I was OK and it was never necessary. Motion sickness actually comes from a disconnect between what your eyes are seeing and what your body is doing (or actually not doing when sitting still). Because YOU are actually moving in this "game" your brain isn't sensing anything unusual between your visual process and your physical movements. Like the above poster the only thing I had trouble with was the boarding ramp, walking it like I had to balance. I'm sure I looked like a TOTAL idiot to the people watching. You're on a totally solid floor, but you "see" a thin ramp to climb. It did not make me dizzy at all, I just felt like I might fall off.
Which brings up point 2, employees are right there with you. You just don't see them. I also get uncomfortable in claustrophobic areas. Nothing in this game feels like you're closed in. It is really a very cool experience.
