I agree with most of the podcasters' thoughts on Vinylmation figures (from this week's show). I didn't get hooked until I got one at World of Disney NYC. Something hit me from then on and I've been nutty about these little guys. While I definitely do not like all of them, there are some series that I absolutely love including the holiday and park series. I also have a bunch of the clear series.

I just heard that the special tin releases are going up in price. Normal vinyls cost $9.95 and the special release ones are $12.95. Well, the new Cinderella LE 800 vinyl is now $22.95. I honestly cannot get over that! Do you think they are going to overly saturate the parks and hike up the prices like they did with the pins? I hope this isn't the end to a fun activity.

There are people that go and buy out the store of the stock on hand and then turn around and sell them on e-Bay. I'm not sure I like that, because when I am at WDW I like to buy souvenirs; however, I do like it to some extent, because I cannot always be in WDW to purchase them.

These started out being a highly collectible little item sold only at The Art of Disney.

We saw them the other night in the upstairs Poly gift shop.

These are no longer the little niche item that you had to search out. They are available almost everywhere.

As with pins...Disney will saturate the market and raise prices.

I'd enjoy these as you see fit, but be cautious or you will end up with an large amount of money invested and a box of plastic Mickey under your bed.

Not that I'm speaking from experience or anything.:rolleyes1

I believe I just read a report that the Vinylmations (or at least the exclusive ones) will only be available at one location from now on.

Sadly this is the case with pretty much any collectible anymore. Of all the absolutely wonderful things about the internet, one downside is that it (and specifically Ebay) totally took the fun out of collecting anything. Once people found out they could make money, it was just a downward spiral.

Please dont take this as anything more than my suspicious mind but....

I'll believe that when I see it.

The Magic had shelves of them in both stores in October so they have hit the high seas as well..

I'm sorry, I know you enjoy them, but I just don't understand these things.

I personally don't get them, but can see why some people might. I am interested in the Muppet series that is going to come out soon, so maybe I'll start collecting them. As far as the LE ones and E-bay, I went and bought the Wall-E/Eve set yesterday for an out of town friend that asked me to buy it for him since he's a collector and not an e-bayer, but I was behind a family that was clearly only there to buy them and put them on e-bay as they were trying to buy all of them that they could and had told the cast memebr they ended up with about 200 of the LE Cinderella one that came out 2 weeks ago. Checked the ebay price on the one I bought yesterday and some are going for over $150 already...that's craziness (reminds me of the beanie baby days), but I may have found a new way to make some extra cash.

No offense to anyone that likes it, but I thought that Cinderella one was ugly and there is no blue! Cinderella's color is blue! The white body with the gold swirlies and bells on the ears is cheesey looking IMHO.

Anyway, I'm sure someone at Disney is watching the Ebay prices on these things and you will see more and more exclusives and limited editions coming out and in much higher edition numbers.

I saw them when I was there in October and almost bought one. I now regret not getting one. I should have just done it but my DH was like "no way".

Well, I love the Cutesters and plan on getting one in May! Only one though.

I'm not all that crazy over them myself, but I could see it appealing to the avid mouse collector. Isn't there one that's just plain white or totally blank?

My 2DS like them. They get so much money when we go down there and spend it on whatever they want. My DS6 was more attracted to them and we did buy some and brought them home for Christmas.

I see them as a rip off. They are disappointed when they get 2 of the same, but it is a lesson learned. For DS6 it was more the anticipation, he liked to buy it and try and guess what it was going to be. This often went on for days, which added an entertainment to it.

They like to play with them, I let them, they will never be worth any real money. Plus they look cute in their room.

Now I will add I think they are adorable, if I did not have kids and money to spend I am sure I would have a ton of them!!

I think it is an added conversation piece at home, something different and hours away from Disney where most people only go once in their life it is fun to show off!

I just started with them the weekend of Disapalooza. I purchased the Osbourne Lights special one. Now I am kinda into them and will just grab a random one here and there. I think they are kinda neat but I am not going to run out for every special one they do or sink a lot of money into it. When I get one I am putting the date with it when I bought it as a kind of marker for that day we were in the park.
