Sorry, I don't want to rehash the refurb stuff but:
I also received a call from a
DVC representative about my letter. She wanted to discuss my points, which we did, and I reiterated that I am really disappointed that this should have been a hard-goods refurb and that I feel like the Florida dvcs were given better amenities than the VGC had gotten. I specified certain items (bigger tv, more usb outlets, combo coffee pot, make up mirror, rainfall shower heads, etc.) and said that while the other dvc properties may not have all of these amenities, they all had some of them and the VGC had none of them. I pointed out that this is their flagship resort in CA and that even the non-dvc side of the resort was given more amenities than this refurb provided the dvc side.
I stressed that my main gripe was that the bathrooms had not been touched and that things like new grout, shower heads, etc was the least that they could provide from a cleanliness standpoint.
I was just getting off the bus at AK when she called, so I hope I stated my points convincingly, but she seemed very sympathetic and agreed with the points that I was making. I also stressed that I belong to a number of forum and facebook groups and that this is being discussed heavily and many are disappointed to the extent of the refurb.
She said that she will be passing my letter and all the notes that she was taking on up the ladder, but we will see. It may have just been talk, but she was very nice and hopefully someone in charge will start to listen to the negative feedback that they are getting.
