The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Owners & Lovers Group - 3.0

I just hope they get rid of Pinocchio. My husband is totally creeped out by it and every time we discuss the refurb he brings it up.
Possibly my favorite border anywhere…. I remember going to watch the rerelease in the theatre with my Grandfather when I was a small boy and have an affinity for Jiminy Cricket to this day.

If they are trying to murder the magic…. removing this would be a good start….

Decided to go to Anaheim instead of Orlando in Sept/Oct to check out Halloween in DLR. Many good points on the humidity factor. What are the chances that the room refurbishments will be done by then?
September can be hot. We went the week of Labor Day in 2022 and it was 107 one day at noon. Mid October should be nice.

Are you under one of the Grand Villas or a different room type? I ask because they might just be starting on just the GVs, which span both the 4th and 5th floors.

(please do not feel pressured to answer this before you checkout)
I am not sure if I am under a GV or not. I will update with my studio number Monday morning when I check out.
Today has been quiet. I came back from the 10K and didn’t leave until 10:30-ish; then returned around 1pm to nap and haven’t heard anything. Maybe they don’t work over the weekend or what I heard Friday morning was repair / maintenance and not refurb?

If you're in a Studio then you are not immediately under a GV as only dedicated 2BR are below the two GVs:

We were there 1/24-1/28 and stayed in 4508 - could definitely hear hammering etc. Even before 9am honestly, I believe it started at 8am!

It would be nice to keep that entrance open especially as they do seem to station a security CM as well as the 1-2 guest services CM’s who check tickets, even well after noon.
We just finished a stay at VGC. It was such a bummer this entrance did not stay open all day. We like to take breaks during the day, and this can be very convenient. I would be more upset if I were at the PPH hotel and wanted to take a break and go back and forth. I really hope they bring this back. As other mentioned, they have CM and security stationed there anyways, so I don't understand why it doesn't stay open for entrance.

Not sure if it’s been reported as I didn’t read through the recent pages. Refurbishment of VGC has started on the 4th floor. I am on the 3rd floor, and right on the dot of 9am today, hammering and sounds of nuts/bolts dropped on the floor started. It was directly overhead. I imagine work is 9am - 5pm, because I arrived shortly after 5pm yesterday and all was quiet/normal.
I tried to get up to the 4th floor, and I could swear I pressed 4, but elevator took me to lobby level 🤔
We just finished a stay on the 3rd floor, checked out 1/31. It definitely sounded like work had begun yesterday on the 4th floor above us as well.

Please put it in your theme park and hotel stay survey!

I was in studio 3510. It was quiet over the weekend, and didn’t hear anything when I checked out around 8:30am this morning.
I noticed this sign by the elevators on the ground floor of the villas wing on Sat. LOL it proved I wasn’t crazy when I said I pressed 4 (from 3) and it took me to L 🤣

Edited to update image.

Does this imply floor 6 is already done? 🤔

I was wondering the same thing. I believe that when we arrived last week, the sign originally said 5th and 6th floor. We also asked if the viewing terrace was open last Wednesday to watch World of Color and it was not available to access. I wonder if it is now.
Ooh progress!!! Yes!!🙌

That carpet has me worried though….. why would you take Chip and Dale out? Because it would be custom?
I was going to ask where Chip and Dale even were in the carpet.

Before I made a fool of myself, I took one of the images posted before and pixel peeped around. Took about 30sec for me to find them. I'm gonna blame it on them being upside down in the perspective of the photo.

Anyway, maybe this is my ego protecting itself after not spotting them all this time, but I don't consider it a great loss?

I'm more concerned about the change from rectangles with hard edges to ovals (one with hard edges, one without) considering the craftsman theme. But the new carpet looks nice overall and the oval thing is a nitpick.

The oval thing is just weird.

I am a fan of “light theming”, but not of “dethemeing”.

The chip and dale in the carpet, the Mickey burned into the hardwood, the thumper in the lamp, the chip and dale on the wall paper, the Pinocchio in the border…. it really was done perfectly….
