The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Owners & Lovers Group - 3.0

Also. The wording of the blog post makes me a bit nervous…

“Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will begin refreshing all its guest rooms, including the Disney Vacation Club Villas”

I hope this doesn’t mean that the DVC rooms are just getting another refresh after 14 years. They are suppose to be getting a full referb. I don’t really won’t them to go to crazy changing the feel of the rooms, but they definitely need more then a refresh. The bathrooms and kitchens need gut jobs. I would be super happy if they end up looking like the hotel rooms. I love the Chip & Dale thing with the accent lighting on the upper rim of the room.

The rooms will undoubtedly be getting Murphy beds. They already installed one in one of the rooms a while back… probably for test purposes.
They would never replace the wood cabinets with the same quality that is there now.

Here’s my guess - the Disney parks blog is written for everyone, so maybe they keep the refurb specifics more generic? The owners are only ones who’d care about what the refurb did or did not include. My non-owner friends wouldn’t really be interested in whether the V-GC bathrooms are getting new just shower curtains or a full remove and replace.

Agree. Id prefer a mix of refresh/refurb. Keep the real wood and maybe just sand and restain, replace showers fully, replace counters. I do not want to see the same type of furniture they put in VDH
What needs to be replaced in the showers?

I actually think they look great. Just give me some fancier shower heads and I’m good to go in there.

The showerheads they have right now are honestly kind of disgusting with a lot of green colored build-up. They also really need handheld.

I agree that I would like a handheld; but none of the rooms we have had over the last 2 years had any “green” on them….

Freshbaked said a comment on a recent construction vlog that he thought the upcoming/current shut down of the Redwood Creak Trail could be related to construction at the Grand Cal. I wasn't sure if that might be related to the DVC wing but that could make sense to use that as a holding/staging area given that they likely don't want to block one of the perks for that entrance into DCA for hotel guests. Any one see any other flags that our construction will start soon?

As a side note, I'm bummed that the entrance into DCA near corn dog castle is only open limited hours. Hopeful that will change during busy time for the 70th.

Isn’t that entrance mainly there to reduce the number of Pixar Place guest coming into the grand cal to enter the park at opening?

What?!? That entrance is a massive perk of staying in VGC. I don’t know why anyone staying in that wing would enter DCA any other way.
After 12 noon.... You can exit throughout the day though, just walk by the one CM sitting at the entry.

I do wish they kept it open later for entering DCA.

It would be nice to keep that entrance open especially as they do seem to station a security CM as well as the 1-2 guest services CM’s who check tickets, even well after noon.
