I am not sure if this is the right place to post, but here goes anyway. If it is not,I hope a moderator will move it to the correct spot. Has anyone ever hear of, been to, or have any information about this place? I would like to know how far it is from Orlando, etc. and my favorite place, Disney. I keep hearing all sorts of good things about it, but would like to know more. I look forward to a reply. Thanks in advance...............

The Villages is a retirement community that is growing by leaps and bounds. At buildout, it will be larger than the city of Pensacola. I have not heard any negative about it. In fact, if it weren't a retirement community, I would move there myself. Here is the link for their website

My dad hates them. He lives near them, and he thinks they are too close together, too "civilized" I guess would be the better term. He likes living in the country (he hates Disney), so he might not be the best judge. They do look very nice though.

I sent away for their brochure because I am retiring and moving to Florida. You cannot live there if you are under 55. No children under 18 can live there. I am 51 and I have a 15 year old daughter. Oh well.

From what I read, they are about an hour drive from WDW. They have a lot of nice homes available in different price ranges and lots of things to do. I have a friend who's mom lives there. When they visit, they can only go to certain places (swim in certain pools, etc.) because they have little kids.

Hope that helps!

My aunt and uncle retired to the Villages as soon as they turned 55. They love it! They have a golf cart to drive around on--there is even a golfcart path that goes under the freeway so they can get to the grocery and drug stores. There are lots of interesting activities like concerts in the square. Also, my aunt joined one of those "red hat" ladies' groups where they dress up and go out together (I know they've been to tea at the GF once). It is a HUGE area (I think it encompasses several zip codes by itself). They really enjoy living there. It's right near Ocala, so I think it takes about an hour or a little over to get to WDW. :)

A teacher friend of my wifes moved to the Villages about 4 months ago. They LOVE it there. We have also gotten there brochures and looked into it so when we retire in 4 years we may buy there........but will be 52 +53 so we may have our in-laws have it there name until we reach the age limits.;)

Here is a another place in Orlando we are considering with no age limits and just as nice.... called Bellalago.

This is where it is located below...........
