The View - anyone watching?

Although I don't always agree with everything she says, I do believe she has a definite point about this administration (they sold us a bill of goods on this war in Iraq which turned out to have holes in it and I think they're trying to do the same thing with Iran) and the media (I'm sick of getting so much information about celebrities and very little on the war - boys and girls are putting their lives on the line and if they make it back - who's taking care of them??).

As for talking over, I myself twinge whenever Elisabeth goes on her tirades. She often talks over the guests!!

I believe in this country - YES. I believe in our troops - YES. I believe in Bush - NOT! This does not make me unpatriotic. Democracy should include all views.

I don't see her being asked to leave - ratings are up!

Did I say scandal? Did I say specifically with ABC? I don't know the details; but wasn't there a problem with her last show and then with her magazine? It's just a question.

It was a serious question. No need to get defensive. I don't recall her ever having a TV network problem before. You phrased your question in such a way as to suggest she is in trouble with her bashing the network again, not just in general trouble. That's the only reason I asked what I did. Sorry.

Go Rosie! The tide is turning and the world is realizing that the US government is corrupt. JMHO...

:lmao: Thoughts such as hers arent 'new'. She just look like a moron expressing them.

I think what the OP is referring to is today Rosie said "we are being fed propaganda and if you want to know what's happening in the world you need to go outside of the US media because it's owned by 4 corporations, one of them is this one", meaning ABC.

The above is word for word. I think that is what this thread is about but I'm not 100% sure.

:worship: :worship: Thank you!!!!!

I totally get that her opinions aren't 'new'...she's just got the 'testicular courage' to voice them, even when she knows it could jeopardize her employment. She's passionate and is using her platform to try and get Americans to 'wake up' and see things for what they are. Gotta give her credit - most people with that kind of influence play it safe and don't want to get their hands dirty.

Calling someone a 'moron' hardly advances good debate...:confused3

If she is off the air on Monday we know she is in trouble. Fri is a taped show. I can not wait to get home & watch.

:)

You're not going to see ABC (Disney) cut off the hand that feeds them! The ratings for The View are waaaaay up and people tune in just to see Rosie. :goodvibes

I understand that. The OP, in a later post, seemed to suggest that Rosie had been in trouble with the network before for something she said, as opposed to her usual "celebrity feud" sort of fight, and that was something I simply don't recall. That's all. I was just inquiring what it specifically was. I thought it was a legitimate question, but I guess not. Actually, not even worth all the trouble. Sorry I even asked.

Alright - how about this: IMO, she looks like a moron? :confused3
Does that make it better.

IMO, she *does* look like a complete and utter, got a few screws loose, moron.

Well, I disagree with you and believe that Rosie's got a stronger following of people who agree with her than you'd like to believe...

Sounds like Ms. O. needs to go spend some more time hanging upside down for a while!!!

But you're right, she's good for ratings, and that's what counts in the end. She kind of reminds me of this weather lady I recall in the 70's that often used to get drunk and then go on the air and do the weather on the local nightly news. She was a great act, but she'd finally do something on the air outrageous enough to get canned... only to have a competitor station hire her shortly afterwards. She actually worked at each station several times during her time in that TV market. They knew the audience would follow her to the new station and it didn't bother them that the reason they were watching had nothing to do with what the program was all about... the news. They just wanted to see what ol' "Drunk-whats-her-name" might do that evening for entertainment.

You're forgetting the correct terminology. She's ALLEGEDLY a moron. :rotfl:

Yes, but I don't remember the details. I thought there was a problem when her show ended, I could be wrong. And I seem to remember a legal battle with her magazine.

There was never any controversy over her show ending...she actually was offered a boat-full of $ to stay on the air, but felt the need to walk away. She was burnt out...the network would have loved for her to stay. Her ratings were huge...

There was controvery over her magazine and I don't know the details about that...:confused3

Here's a peek at the magazine issue...
Battle over Rosie Magazine's downfall gets nasty

NEW YORK — Rosie O'Donnell's battle with a German magazine publisher over who sunk the magazine bearing her name has never been pretty. But on Wednesday, one of the senior executives with the company told a rapt Manhattan courtroom just how ugly things got.

"Rosie said, 'Do you know what happens to people who lie? They get sick and they get cancer and if they keep lying they get cancer again,'" recalled a choked-up Susan Spengler, chief of marketing at Gruner + Jahr USA.

Spengler, a breast cancer survivor who said she'd discussed her cancer with O'Donnell, was so emotional that Supreme Court Justice Ira Gammerman called a 10-minute recess.

Throughout Spengler's testimony, a contrite O'Donnell — who often reacts to testimony by scoffing, turning to her family and friends in disbelief — kept her eyes fixed on her former co-worker.

O'Donnell later told reporters she had apologized for the remark.

At the lunch break, the one-time talk show host seemed to reach out to Spengler as they passed in a hallway outside the court.

"You did good. Did you not believe me? Seriously, you did good," said O'Donnell, patting her heart with a clenched fist. "I'm telling the truth."

The cancer comment, which came on July 16, 2002 — hours after O'Donnell told Spengler and Gruner + Jahr CEO Dan Brewster that she wanted out of Rosie Magazine — wasn't the only made-for-TV moment to surface Wednesday.

Thanks. :) I remember the magazine fight, but I believe she left her TV show of her own volition. It was actually doing great, ratings wise. Trump said her show tanked and was being cancelled but that was untrue.

Nope-don't watch him either. Blowhards just don't interest me. In their view, Free Speech exists for them and those that agree with them-everyone else better just shut up or be called ignorant or WRONG.

I used to LOVE Rosie's show, but then she got ANGRY. All that anger spewing about all the time isn't really enjoyable to me. She and others like her have a perfect right to it, but that doesn't mean that I have to listen to them being angry.

I hear that! I wouldn't have a problem with Rosie if it weren't for her "it's my way or no way" attitude. She seems to think that everything she says is THE right answer or opinion and if you feel differently than her she thinks you're ignorant and it's her job to educate you. How obnoxious

She claims to be open minded and compassionate but most of the time her actions speak otherwise. "My way or the highway" is a ridiculous attitude to take.

I did use to like Rosie but the past few years...eh. I can only take her in small doses now. Which is why I rarely watch The View.

It's sad that sometimes there is still the "Disagree with this administration = Unpatriotic Traitor" sentiment in this country.

Sometimes? That is a very common sentiment, sadly. That along with not agreeing with the war on terror = not being supportive of our troops. Both are sad situations that people can not see you can disagree and still be patriotic and supportive of our troops. The right to disagree is one of the things that makes this country great.

I don't always agree with Rosie, or with Elisabeth, but I do like that they are women who are passionate in their convictions and do not allow themselves to be bullied into changing their opinions just because they are not popular ones.

To be honest, a lot of times I wonder if Elisabeth's opinions she expresses truly are what she feels or if it's either an issue of keep up the disagreement for ratings or an "I got a Christmas card from GWB and an invitation to the White House so I'll toe the good little Rebublican line so those keep coming" thing.
