But your card has a phone number, batch, and/or other identification that can be verified right?
Sort of. It has patient name, date of birth, patient number (if in a health plan), and the type of vaccine/batch, plus location of vaccination.

Now, the location on mine is a parking garage at a local college. I'd say, in the future, there'd be no way to verify with them it's a good card.

I got my J&J vaccine on Sunday!
Here in Florida, several pharmacies are accepting appointments for teachers, regardless of age, following federal advice.

I felt ill on Monday, as warned: was hot and had a migraine level headache. Now, on Tuesday, I feel great again, just the injection site is a bit sore (which happens with me with any injection).

Why did I take it? Now I won't get quarantined when one of my students tests positive! (school district policy)
Also, I'll feel more confident when traveling.

Yes, I know I still get Covid, but I had it last year in March, and those were two horrible weeks! If I need to experience it again, I rather do it with fewer symptoms. Am I worried about side-effects? Yes, but coughing up blood and struggling to breathe was scary too.

I read articles saying that according to studies, people who had COVID and the vaccine will have a better protection than people who did not have COVID and received two shots.

As we say in french "you can sleep on both ears now".

I'm wondering what 'proof' of a vaccination will be required. We got ours yesterday and all we got was a small card that showed our first and second injection dates. I hate to say it, but this type of proof can easily be forged.
I am an ER nurse and I also give vaccines on some of my days off. While the card can easily be forged, I'm guessing that what will be required as proof will come directly from VAMS (vaccine administration management system). Every shot given is logged into VAMS and includes all of your info, the date (even the time) lot number and place given. Each person who's been vaccinated can search VAMS and find the electronic proof of their vaccination. However, it's not something you can forge.

Is this true if you don’t schedule your vaccine thru VAMS?

Iceland has announced that as of tomorrow, they will be open to vaccinated Americans. However, the "paper card" won't be accepted as proof.
We need a country wide electronic vaccine record yesterday...

They'll have to work that out then: if they don't accept a country's "paper card" which is what America is using, you aren't open to vaccinated Americans. :snail:

I have more than a paper card. I have my information printed directly off VAMS and I also took a screen shot of it with my cell phone. There are kinks to be worked out but with the correct documentation, they're open.

As far as VAMS, I'll have to play with the site. I do have a log in to the system as I give vaccines but I know some of my friends also accessed the site and printed their info. I just haven't looked at it in a while. (My second vaccine was January 6).

I have received my first Pfizer shot, and my card has a sticker with a QR code that I assume leads to verifiable information. Does yours not have a QR code?

This is the patient guide for VAMS. Page 22 of the PDF has info on viewing one's vaccination certificate.

I checked the manual, but I get stuck at not being able to register. https://vams.cdc.gov/vaccineportal/s/login/?ec=302&startURL=/vaccineportal/s/
I click on the state, and Florida only directs you to the pharmacies' personal websites. I didn't even use that to get my vaccine; I just walked into my local pharmacy.

Edit: Upon more research, it seems if your state doesn't use VAMS, you're just out of luck and there is no digital tracking available to us common folk.

New data from the New England Journal of Medicine showed Moderna’s mRNA-1273 vaccine significantly reduces neutralizing activity against VOCs B.1.1.7, P.1, and B.1.351 and VOI B.1.427/B.1.429. Although there was a slight reduction against B.1.351 (South African Variant), the neutralizations were still well above detectable levels expressing the effectiveness of the vaccine against that variant.

One molecular biologist (specializing in viral pathogens and immunity) that I follow made the above conclusions and viewed the data as a very positive, however, the authors still concluded that "the Protection conferred by the mRNA-1273 vaccine against the P.1, B.1.427/B.1.429, and B.1.351 variants remains to be determined."

On a personal note - I get my first shot today! Most likely Moderna.

When I got my second shot, I was told NOT to get the card laminated. When I asked why, they told me that there are extra lines on the card that might be used in the future if they require booster shots.
My card has those lines, but the next sticker (for dose 2) will cover them, if it's the same size as the first sticker.

Clever design. /s

The Biden administration plans to send a total of 4 million doses of AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine to Mexico and Canada, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Thursday.

The administration is assessing how it can loan those doses to the countries, Ms. Psaki said, with the expectation that the nations would send doses to the U.S. later. Of the 4 million, 2.5 million doses would be sent to Mexico and 1.5 million to Canada. She added the plans haven't yet been finalized.

The AstraZeneca vaccine isn’t approved for use in the U.S.

Multiple European countries have halted the use of this one due to blood clotting issues. So anyone wanting it should again, research.
