The ups, the downs and final weeks countdown - I'm leaving in just 7 sleeps :lovestruc

Wow - I've been planning this trip for 7 months :surfweb: and last week my DH wanted me to cancel the whole thing as we'd had a lot of financial disasters (I've been made redundant, our car was totalled and we need a new one, ill-health in the elderly in-laws) it was one thing after the other in the previous 2-week period :sad2:

Anyway after a few tears :sad1: I pulled on my big girl panties :yay: and decided I wasn't giving up this much longed for and loved holiday and after thinking it through I ditched the luxury bits and went for the ultra-budget everything (Hojo's king suite to budget room at Anaheim plaza hotel saved me $800) and as we'd already paid for everything else including booking our tickets from Australia if he didn't want to come with me I'd go it alone. I was ready to holiday again

Fortunately my can-do attitude rubbed off and he's now coming with me :woohoo: Yay! I was a bit scared to go alone from one continent to another :scared1: and I was disappointed I wasn't getting to share with DH :cloud9:

Now it's all back on and I've got my re-worked budget happening I have one more question for all the guru's who happen to read this.

Is it possible to see the Disney Electric Parade and then get to somewhere I'll have a good view of the Fireworks? I've got disney maps of both parks and it's only DH and I so no little ones to worry about on this trip - I cant wait to hear suggestions - thank you

Good to hear that you're still going! With all the planning and not to mention, unfortunate events that you've dealt with, I think that you and DH deserve a Disneyland vacation! Unwind and enjoy your stay! You will definitely forget all about your worries once you pass the turnstiles! This is EXACTLY what Disneyland is supposed to do!

Where there is a will, there is a way. Have a great time.

Sometimes it's good to get away from life and recharge with some Disney magic :wizard:

the only time I have seen both DEP and Fireworks on same night, we saw Fireworks from the esplanade. Not a great view, but several
people have a seat on the ground. We had a quick escape from DCA around Sunshine Plaza (that's if the parade route is the same, since the walls came down?) anyway if it still routes around the plaza we watched from there and quickly escaped and sat in the esplanade :)
I know others have made their way into DL and seen the fireworks hopefully they will chime in and give their strategy :goodvibes

In my opinion, there is no way. I viewed the parade from sunshine plaza and was able to sit down in the plaza after the last float went by and watch the fireworks with a good view. Yes you can see them from the plaza, but it is nothing like being near the castle with the music and narration. The fireworks are great, you'll want a castle view with music.

I agree with Raindown. The only time to view the fireworks from the esplanade or any other place in the park minus the castle view, is if you have already enjoyed the full version on the trip! popcorn:: However, although that's my opinion, I know there are many people that truly enjoy the fireworks from any point of view.

I am so glad you are able to make your trip! It is so worthwhile to take the time to experience the joy, especially while going through tough times. Have a wonderful time! :goodvibes

It is possible... I've done it... but I don't know with the new walls up... maybe someone who has been recently can tell you... we sat near the beginning of the EP parade route--which was by Golden Dreams, now the new Ariel ride construction, and immediately when the last float was directly in front of us we left by going through the GRR paths and out the front of DCA--, swam like a fish up stream through main street (going fast the whole time), if a cm tried to stop us, I said we were trying to meet up with family "up there" and we made it to the hub, albiet a very cramped spot, but we were able to watch from in front of the castle.

Thank you all for your feedback, I really appreciate it :flower3:

I'm thinking that as we have 6 day tickets that I can go to the Disney Electric Parade on the Saturday\Sunday as it is then being closed down and see what I can of the fireworks on those nights and then make sure I'm in a great position for the fireworks Monday through to Thursday :daisy:

I'm so excited, this time next week I'll be on a plane getting very close :goodvibes and I can't wait!
