At $499 a lot of people can afford an iPad. 16GB is our base model. For 32GB it’s $100 more, and for $100 more than that you get $64GB. The 3G models cost another $130

DH wants one of these badly. At those prices, I'm sure we will have one. I just don't know if he will get a first gen model, or wait for the bugs to be sorted out. He usually doesn't want the 1st gen, but he's been talking about this for as long as there has been rumors.

I want to know what the web surfing is like. Is it like an i-phone with a bigger screen where everything is in an app format instead of real website content? I'd be better off with another laptop if that is the case.

Oh I definitely want one of these! I've been waiting to see if I wanted a new laptop or this and I think this is probably going to win. :goodvibes

I was totally shocked by the prices. FREAKIN' AWESOME!

I like the lower end prices, but I know I'd want 64g w/ 3g and that would be a little steep.

I want this for magazine reading. I can read a magazine with backlighting so if they have subscriptions to magazines with color I would get it just for that. I don't think I could read a whole book on it.

A 64G iPad with unlimited data package and a Kindle DX = marriage made in heaven for all my reading needs. That plus an iPhone. If they would let me switch my iPhone service to Verizon so I could actually get calls consistently I would be thrilled.

The $499 doesn't have 3G access.

Right now I'm not getting what it can do that my iPhone doesn't already do -- except that it has a bigger screen....

The LCD screen pretty much negates it's usability as an extended eReader, way too much eyestrain for my eyes.

My thoughts exactly. I am "meh" about it. My iphone can do most of that and there's no way I'd read a whole book on a back lit screen. I give it a thumb and half down.

Advantage for me over the iPhone. I don't have to use AT&T for cell phone service.

I think I read something that said it would be full websites, not mobile versions. Look at the comment at 10:16AM on this site.

Ok - In love again :) This would be great for travel as long as you have the G3 network. More limited with just wi-fi. But with 3G would make my drive to Florida even more fun than with the I-phone which can get annoying long term surfing the web. I find Iphone is good for specific type of limited web surfing.

Yeah, I think it probably would be really good for mobile web browsing. That just isn't a function that I use often.

Cool gadget, probably just not for me.

I want one! Dont care about 3g just as long as I can connect to WiFi I'm good! :thumbsup2

Everyone keeps saying why do I need one when I have an Iphone...
Well NOT everyone has an Iphone, I dont because,

I dont want to pay the extra $30.00/month just to have it.

The screen is way to small for any kind of web browsing for me. Someone tried to show me a web page on their Iphone last night. I couldnt tell what I was looking at and could barely read it, it was so small. (I have a 24" Imac :) )

I dont want AT&T, too many dead zones around here...and its a city too.

I must say I have been looking for a netbook and I was interested in what the Ipad had to offer. I am interested in it :)

The bigger ones would be perfect for those heavy flow days!!!!:lmao:

So if you get the one *without* 3G, you don't have to pay the extra $30 per month, right? I'm already paying that per month for my iPhone, but I'd really like the wi-fi option at the University.

I was just considering buying the Kindle DX, but I think I'll be getting this instead.
