The Unofficial STROLLER Thread

IMO, we tried out the graco ipo with our daughter.. and we hated it.. It was too short (dh is tall), and we both kept kicking the wheel.. my daughter wasn't comfortable. For us the best best bet was paying a little more money.. It has payed off for us.

That's exactly why we won't buy a stroller that we can't try out in person first. I've actually gone to BrU and pushed strollers around to find what worked best for us and then shop online for the best deal!
It's the whole reason we decided to go with the Peg Perego Pliko P3. It had the extendable handles and with them extended neither DH nor I kicked the wheels anymore.

I am still torn about what to do about a stroller. My kids will be 17 months, 3 and 4 (turning 5 the week we go). My son the oldest is not going to want to walk the whole time. We are going for 9 nights. Probably only 8 days in the parks, not sure about the first day, in September, so it will be hot. He is healthy, normally pretty active. I have been trying to have him walk with me once or twice a week. He can make it about 3 miles but he does ask me to carry him for a few minutes a couple of times during the walk (I think he just likes the feeling of being carried by mommy). I know this will be a huge battle. I really don't think it will work to make the 3 year old walk while he rides. She won't want to walk too long either. So what do I do? I don't have any good strollers, just old graco full sizes that have seen much better days and are very heavy and will be tough on the busses. A small cheap umbrella will not work. My son is 42 pounds, my 3 year old about 37. They are past the weight limits of those. Plus the girls will do better riding together than the older too. I see two choices. Two Macs or a double Joovy that has the sit and stand on it. I am leaning towards two mac's because I would like to have a new light weight single to use for my youngest. The joovy would have to be sold when we go home. Renting makes no sense, it doesn't help us with POR and it is just throwing the money away. At least I could sell one I buy. So go with the old double graco or buy a double mac and hope my son will walk it. Or break down and buy two macs, which seems crazy but I want the vacation to be fun! Help! I have been trying to sell junk around the house to come up with the money to justify two expensive strollers, but I am out of good junk (sold 200 so far). I don't know what to do!

Last year I used the Joovy Caboose. I loved it. My son was only 3 at the time but he is a big boy. He was 40 lbs and 40 inches last year. I would recommend it to anyone. I couldn't see paying at the time $18 a day to rent one. They also say the rental strollers are first come first serve.

I live in Canada and I know our prices are a little more but I did sell the stroller this year. I paid $179 for it and sold it for $125. They are in high demand and have great resale on them.

We received a chicco capri light weight at my DW's baby shower. It is still in the box because we have been using a big heavy gracco. Our DD is about 3.5 months and we are going to WDW in November she will be 6 months. I have been reading about the Zooper Twist I like the fact it has 4 reclining positions, a UV screen, and a rain cover, and an adjustable foot rest. Should I return the Capri and get the Twist?:confused3

I bought the twist for my 20mo ds and really like it. It does not have a flat recline though. it reclined enough for ds to sleep in but not sure if it would be enough for a smaller baby.

for a baby that young I would find something with a flat/near flat recline. It isnt good for babies under 1yr to spend a lot of time with their spine compressed. For the time spent walking around WDW I would find something she can strech out in. Look around and compare strollers. Also, remember a lot of lightweights are short so if you are tall you may get a backache unless you check it out ahead of buying.

We have a new baby on the way so I'm starting to look at double strollers. We have a Mac Techno XT and love it so I'm thinking about the Twin Techno or Twim Triumph. My daughter is 2 yo so I'd like to find a double stroller that can comfortably accommodate both kids.

Are these strollers the same width? I know the Twin Techno is a little heavier but I like the fact that it has bigger wheels and a larger sun canopy. Has anyone who owns the Twin Triumph found that the wheels are too small?

If the Twin Techno is enough wider than the Twim Triumph that it is hard to get through doors I'll definitely get the Twin Triumph.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

We have a Maclaren Triumph that I'd like to gate check...do I need one of those gate check bag things or is that just something else to waste money on? :confused3

Thanks!

It's only a waste if you don't care how your expensive Mac looks after it's tossed around that dirty greasy hold. :rolleyes1

Seriously - invest in a cheap bag like the red Gate Check bag mentioned earlier in this thread. It's worth it!

Here's the link. you don't even have to look for it ;)

I wouldn't bring the capri. I have that and am not bringing it for my 20 month old. To me it's just not big enough, no snack tray, no good sun shade, does not recline hardly at all!

For a six month old I would stick with the graco you are using currently.

Does anyone have a Maxi-Cosi stroller? We just got the Perle and so far I love it but I haven't seen many reviews on it. Any comments??

I just purchased a City Mini Double for an upcoming trip and now need a rain cover. Can anyone recommend a rain cover that works/fits with this stroller? Or is best get to buy the Baby Jogger one?

Just curious....which Mac is best? I am new to the "Mac" world, but have been investigating recently. My son is 1 year old, weighing 24 lbs and 32 inches long. I would like something that reclines all the way - is that an option with the Macs?

DS will be 6 1/2 when we take him for his first trip to the World June 2009. He's still very stroller bound, but we told him we will not bring a stroller for this trip. I really feel that at nearly 7 he should be able to walk. If we end up needing to rent a stroller at the park midday if he tires out, is this an impossible dream?

The Techno and techno XLR are the Macs that recline the most. I have the XLR which is good up to 65 pounds but it is larger than the actual techno . Still umbrella fold about 17 pounds??

Do most of the Walmarts carry the Gate Check Bag for the strollers? Or are they a special order?

I live in canada and will see if our stores up here carry them, but if they don't would I be able to find one at a Walmart down in the US on our way to Seattle?

If you want one, I wouldn't chance it. I've never seen them at any local (Denver metro) Wal-Marts. Even if you pay for shipping from another site that sells them (WalMart ships too but there are quite a few other kids companies that sell them!) it will still be a lot less than the name brand bags they sell for the strollers! (I think the 'official' bag for my Peg was over $60!)

Walmart.com offers free ship to store for the gate check bag. The site lists the bag as available at limited stores. No stores carrying the bag came up within a 100 miles of my home.

I checked for the Gate Check bag and was going to order it from Walmart site to store. I happened to look for it at Babies R Us last night and they had it there. :thumbsup2 Great price! Thanks for mentioning it on here. I would be upset if I arrived in Orlando and 'my' new Mac was all dirty from gate checking!
