The Unofficial Golf at Disney FAQ Thread

Advice needed.....

Dbf has booked a tee time for oak trail since it is included with out ticket, however.....I have a plan. DBF is not a Disney lover per se. I am. I figure if I can get him to play at a course that he really enjoys, it may make it easier to get him to return more often. Of all the courses, which is the best? The one course that makes you want to go back and play it again. DBF is a good golfer, not pro level by any means but good. Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Help me save my yearly wdw vacations!:goodvibes

I'll go with Magnolia. DH used to love Osprey Ridge the best. However, he played there just a few months ago and the nearby construction, half done, made it not as beautiful a course as it once was. He still really liked it. but now he gives the nod to Magnolia. However, depending on where you're from, you might or might not know-if a ball goes in the water, leave it! We've seen so many alligators on Magnolia especially.

I think a lot depends on where you are from as well! Osprey Ridge is a Beautiful course, but it reminds me of every course I play all summer here in Michigan! When I go I always end up playing the Palm and the Magnolia just because it has a different feel to it! A lot is personal preference and what you are use to playing!

I've heard golf balls are expensive at the club houses, so you might want to stash a handful for him. Not sure about shoes at the clubhouse, can you sneak in his shoes? And maybe his glove.

Ohhh, thanks for the advice. I actually bought a box of balls already but I hadn't even thougt about his glove or shoes. I think I can hide those though!

I have not been In here for awhile, so I thought I give wave to everyone!!. Has any one play recently??, how Is the fall weather treating the fairways?. I am in my delima weather to go Play up In the Pa area this July or go back to WDW and play my favorit courses LBV,Magnoila and the Palms:cool1:( just between you and me I am leaning torads WDW:rotfl2:.

So I am going to be playing all the disney courses on our up coming trip:scared1:(except Oak trail ) In Sept, (plus one other round by universal i think its metro?does that sound right?). What are the prices like?, do they offer specials in years past In Sept?. Like the two rounds for one price?. We will be there at the end of Sept, is there alot of people hitting the links then?. How about replay's i think on two of the days I am looking to play 36 holes those days. Do they offer cart service to the airport?, i think i might not be able to walk after all this:rotfl2: it will be fun:cool1:

I'm playing Saturday afternoon for the first time - Magnolia to start. Tee time is 2:48 pm - any chance we'll get in the full 18 or is play too slow right now?

Also a little tidbit for everyone, check available tee times on Golfnow.com for all of the Disney courses - they might be cheaper. I checked them first, then called Disney directly to get a time and even for the same twilight time, Disney wanted $70 for me, no passholder discount, for after 2 pm. I told them I could get less on Golfnow, but the CM couldn't change anything, so I said no thanks, pulled up my Golfnow app and booked a time only 20 minutes later, same day, for $49 instead of $70. So it saved me $21, which is half a box of balls for me, thank you very much!

Can you wait one more day?, we turn the clocks forward Saturday night and and that will give you more time. As For Saturday??, i dont think slow play will slow you down as much as just trying to get it in before the end of sunlight, you have untill what about 5 45. on a clear day you might get in,but any clouds dont know?

First, the time changes NEXT weekend. :)

I teed off around 2:30 and quit after 12 holes. It was already around 5:30 at that point, lots of clouds were already making it dark and sunset was going to be 6:30 anyway. Play was slow, wind was very strong (one of the reasons play was slow) and we had been backed up behind a long row of foursomes for quite a while - three groups were on the 12th hole when we got there.

The Magnolia was in great shape - lush and green, very well kept, flowers blooming, etc. I will gladly play again sometime when I will have more time to get in a full round.:thumbsup2

Sorry about that:confused3, I guess I am liveing In the future?.:rotfl2:. Sorry you could not finesh your round, but I am glad you had a good time:goodvibes

Has anyone ever heard that you could play the championship courses for around $50 if you have the water park & more option, but you cannot reserve tee time and just have to show up and see if they can get you on? We had CM at Magnolia tell us that the other day, and then my son went to LBV yesterday based on that info. but no one there had ever heard of it. Had to pay full $140 rate. Just trying to figure out who's right!
Thanks

The ony discount I hered of was you get to play the walking course for free, i think its called Oak hill??:confused3

So this Is a re-post,sorry. Any one know or hered of rates for the end of Sept or any specials. I am planning on playing a totatl of 4 rounds and would love to jump on any deals:cool1:

Thanks 3minniesimickey!, the only bad thing about that Is not playing before 10am, I like to get out at the crack of dawn:rolleyes1. That way I will still have a good portion of the day for the park. Will have to think about it??:confused3,i might

Bump with a question!

It is my understanding that with a premium AP, I get free rounds at Oak Trail. I am curious to know if that also extends to members of my playing party. I see that other discounts (ex: 30% off with the AP at other courses) does extend to the rest of my foursome.

I'm not sure where I'll play, but my friend is asking about discounts so I'm doing my due diligence by finding out.

Thanks!

It sounds like they would maybe get a discount but i am not going to swear on it:scared1:. I have a Oak trail question, can you rent golf carts there?, not the push typ but driveing?

I believe YOU would get free golf with a Premium AP but the rest of your group does not! I'm not sure if they receive a discount when playing with you or not!

No, you can't rent "driving" carts at Oak Trail. It is a 9 hole Walking Course!
