The Unofficial Chatterbox Thread! Everyone is Welcome!

I am trying to train my mom on facebook. Its freaking EXHAUSTING!:lmao::lmao: Its like teaching a four year old how to do it! I have been working with her for two days. I dont think she is ready to take this technological step. :rotfl2: I LOVE my mom, but she is hard work. :lmao:

Too funny! In my house DS & I are the computer literate ones. DH doesn't really like computers and don't even get me started with DD. She HATES computers!!!

Megan...you'll survive...maybe. But just remember, don't let her know what MIL means!:lmao:

Hi!

Tea Time is always one of my favorite things to do on the cruise. I love the little cucumber sandwiches.

Our cheapy little cruise has now gone to an expensive even longer cruise. :rotfl: First we were going to do the Monday-Friday for under $200 each, then I changed it to the Sunday-Sunday for just over $400 each and I just upgraded our rooms to Spa rooms for another $180 each. :scared1: Oh well, this is going to be the last one we take for awhile plus we ahve done the Enseanda/Catalina one so many times we wanted to see new places. The one we are booked on now goes to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucus. Plus I've never been on this ship before so I super excited!:cool1:

Sounds like lotsa fun! So are you coming to the Hyena get together at the first of February?? Or did I already ask you and just forgot??:lmao:

I think I did too much today, which is very sad considering.. I didn't do too much.

My living room is tidy again, my kitchen table is nearly clear of the assorted junk (I just love how all of our tables becomes a dumping ground for everyone's stuff GRRR) and I swept the floor (found a piece that's been missing from my rice cooker for two months-- stuck behind the freezer). Did all that while talking to my sis for an hour on the phone.

I made cookies (okay I cheated, it was pre-made dough, just peel and bake -- pumpkin shaped sugar cookies-- clearance and coupons of course) and did the dishes. And now, I'm tired .. again.

At least I feel a little more productive on the home front. Don't want E getting any ideas that I'm slacking on the job here. Though how one gets fired from being a domestic diva, I don't know. :lmao:

If you find out.. let me know. I could use a good firing.

I just ordered out Thanksgiving dinner from safeway.. I was going through some recipes, and trying to figure what we wanted... I got thinking how LONG it would take... and how much everything would cost.. I looked up Safeways dinner. It is only $40. So I called and ordered. Im hungry for it NOW. :lmao:

We're going to my parent's house for Thanksgiving. :headache:

I can picture it now..

dry over cooked turkey (because we had to wait an extra 2 hours for some family member to arrive because no one told them what time we were eating)

weird stuffing with too much salt and spices (gee thanks dad, same as last year and the year before that, and the year before that, and...)

unsalted bland mashed potatoes

Home made rolls-- but mom's yeast was about a year old and she rushed the rising time, now they are hard little rocks... with no flavor. Use the spread from the giant tub of Country Crock, complete with a variety of crumb morsels from previous occasions.. mmmmmm yummy!

The few really good things are what the rest of us brought however, after the mob of teenage boys hit the line, nothing is left.

My dad waits until everyone fills a plate, he glares at us until we all stop eating.. and prays over the food for the next 10 minutes.

Finally, we dive in to the lukewarm food.
The mob of teens come up with some unique dinner conversation, last year it involved caves, bat poo and spiders that eat the poo, getting more glares from Grandpa.
My husband gets glared at because he's wearing his hat at the table. I hear some quip from my dad involving hats hiding horns and my dear wonderful husband quips back "yep they're growing" and continues to wear the hat. meanwhile, the rest of us are trying reaaaaaaaaaaaally hard not to laugh. Because dad was actually trying to say "take off the hat"

We all eat, the food sits for hours on the counter until my sis and I decide "eww" and start cleaning up. Dad parks his rear in the lounger, cranks up the TV volume to counteract the noise of the younger boys wrestling on the floor because they are bored. Yells for my mom to get him some tea and then yells some more when it doesn't magically appear before him as she didn't hear him the first time (because the TV is loud, the kids are wrestling, we are cleaning and yapping as women tend to do in the kitchen).

The we decided, okay.. enough time to go. We hear grumble grumble why can't you spend the night? come visit more often grumble grumble.. from my dad. Hugs to my mom with the softly spoken exchange that she can visit us anytime.

and we're off!

We eat some odd assortment of snack foods from the gas station on the three hour drive home and mutter about "OMG we survived another year!" . Family traditions, fun times. :thumbsup2

Sounds like tooooo much fun. Im glad we get to skip the family drama this year. I like spending nice quiet days at home. I almost got roped into going to my grandmas again this year.... But thankfully my mom is going out of town, so we get to skip it. WOOHOOO!!!

I like it, get her trained now. :thumbsup2

Crawling stage is fun! And challenging because they don't stay where you left them! :rotfl: Plus the whole baby proofing and "no don't eat that!" worries. My BIL freaked and vowed to never watch his youngest again when little guy hocked up a poker chip. :rotfl2: Wow, guess you can teach him how to play now and he will be a gambling whiz.. pay his own way thru college, support you in your old age..... I got a glare in response. :lmao:

:lmao::lmao:Yesterday both babies were on the floor...Feet touching, but facing different directions. :scared1: Now it starts! It was such a funny sight.. and all I could think was.. CRAP! Now I will never be able to keep track of them. :lmao::lmao:

I bet they will tag team .. okay you go rip the pictures and while she's dealing with you I'll go play in the toilet, deal?

:lmao: I know it! Cant wait. I fell sleep on the couch... BIG mistake. I dint mean to, I just passed out. I woke to find Vinny in the entertainment center! He had crawled right on up into it. :sad2: am so just going to duct tape them both to me!

You really don't want to meet me...I don't really exist, I'm just a figment of your imagination.:lmao:

OMG! I'm so tired...spent all day at Concordia College. It is such an awesome college, average class size less then 20 students. Some classes have 9-15 students. DD would get an awesome education, totally beyond anything I could have ever imagined for her.

Anyway, she's spending tonight eating dinner, on campus entertainment and then they are taking them downtown Portland to a comedy club, then spending the night in a dorm.

It will be interesting to see how well she likes it. The choice of colleges is hers and I need to back off and let her pick the one that works best for her....(however I am saying a little prayer that she will choose the small liberal arts college that is religious based and not Washington State University the west coast's largest party school).

I don't know who I'm trying to kid though, she's never going to go for Concordia.

It was so funny listening to the staff. One of them told the parents the best thing we could do to prepare our children for college was teach them how to do their own laundry and how to clean a bathroom.:rotfl2:

Another one described some of the over zealous parents...described the hovering helicopter parents that can't let go of the children and the stealth bomber parents that call the University President directly to complain about the food in the cafeteria.:rotfl2:

Lots of stuff to think about, but dang I'm exhausted. Seriously, I have no idea how I'm going to make it all day at DL without a scooter. The muscles in my abdomen and back are killing me. By mid morning I was walking with a limp because my bones in my left foot are still hurting. I always feel like I have energy until I really have to exert myself one day and then I'm exhausted and it takes me a week to start feeling better.
