The Unofficial Chatterbox Thread! Everyone is Welcome!

It is a good price, and I cant tell you how excited I am to move. I LOVE our apt manager.. She is so great. I am going to have my own room! Well... I have to share with hubby.. But that cant be helped, I guess. :confused3:lmao:

I have just been a basket case about mikalah. Watching her get her blood drawn, and she was just crying because she was so scared, and sick. I wanted to KILL the techs, they were hurting my baby! Logically, I know they were making her better.. but she is my BABY. By far the most pampered of all my children, being her daddies first baby girl and all. ;):lmao: My husband almost couldnt hold her still when he saw them coming at her with those needles for her shots. You should have seen him when I got home from the hospital and he hadnt heard from us for hours.. He said he was getting ready to pack up the babies and walk down there!

Got sucked into discovering new deals.

I plan to step up my deal making/ saving this year by doing rebates. The beer forms are hard to find but I know they are out there. Just gotta trade for them or ebay.
It's no brainer instant money as it is no beer purchase necessary in MN - buy deli, paper plates, meat, chips, etc... duh? Stuff I buy all the time anyway! Just need the forms. :thumbsup2

Good Morning! Happy Friday!

We have this new bakery in town that sells fancy cupcakes. A dozen for $28.00. Yikes.

I am always amazed at how much some bakeries charge for cupcakes. Do they really think we are so stupid we can't figure out that we can make two dozen cupcakes for about $2....or for about $1 if you clip coupons!:rotfl: My boss always goes to this bakery and buys $3 cupcakes...and then scrapes the frosting off that he doesn't like. I think I should start making cupcakes with no frosting and selling them to him for $2 each...he'll think he's really getting a great bargain.:lmao:

Okay... my story from the last 48 hours or so..

Kaylee woke up at 10 oclock or on Wed. night. Puking, pooping.. all that. But for a while she was still keeping down water. All that stopped around 3am. She couldnt even keep down water. So I wake up Dh and take her to the hospital. We wait.. and WAIT.. W finally get back in about 8am, and they want to do blood tests, lung X-rays.. and a urine test. The blood comes back a little off, but the dr. says that is most likely just because of the vomiting and diarrhea.. The lung X-ray looked good, but her urine test came back with signs of infection. He said kidney infection. I said...:faint: WHAT!! Then he said that he had already called Mary Bridge Childrens hospital, and they were waiting for us to transfer over there. :scared1::scared1:

All this time I couldnt get ahold of my husband. Our phone wast working, and it was like noon already. I couldnt figure it out. Turns out, in the two weeks I have been living in a sleep deprived fog, I forgot to pay the cable bill. AGAIN. :sad2: So I cal my mother in law, ask her if she can keep the babies, and ALex.. She said yes. I ran home, got everyone together, and then went to Alex's school.. picked him up and dropped the kids off at Grandmas house.. Not without getting a lot of crap about leaving the twins with her. I HAVE NO CHOICE!! We needed HELP! GEEZ.

Anyways, we there.. they gave her two GIANT shots in the legs of antibiotic, said she had a urinary tract infection, and gave us some perscriptions.. Said she probably had the flu, and it just ran all over her. She got the UTI from the poos and not wiping right.. and messing her pants and sitting in poo most likely. Then we went home.

After being up for at LEAST 48 hours straight, After I found out she was okay, they werent admitting her.. I passed out while we were getting our discharge stuff. COMPLETELY. :sad2:

She is home, has a scrip for zofran for vomiting.. and keflex?? something for the UTI. I am SOOO tired!

I'm so glad she didn't get admitted and is doing better.:hug::hug:

OH!!! Big news!! We got a four bedroom apt!!!! We move in the first half of Feb!!!! They had one opened, which we knew, because we saw the folks moving out. She said.. Ill bet you want in a bigger place!:lmao: She said its not ready yet, but when it is Its yours!!:cool1: Its $900. a month.. Not to bad!

$900 a month!:scared1: My house payment is only $720 a month, that's crazy. But then again I still think that candy bars should cost 10 cents. I can remember our first house payment was almost $500 a month and I was freaked out because our 2 bedroom apartment rent had only been $250.

YIKES! 48 hours of craziness and rollercoaster of emotions too.
Nothing like a sick kid almost admitted to a hospital to scare the poo out you.
What's with your family crabbing about helping out? I don't even have little kids anymore and it is sometimes an inconvenience, but I watch my nephews frequently because I know my sis has ten million things to do where she can't bring the kidlets to get it done.

Hmm.. I got a scolding from my family when I asked for help when BOTH of us were having surgery (transplant). It wasn't a last minute request. I was told "how dare you ask, we have other commitments you know"

I love my family, but sometimes they are just really dumb.

:wooohoo on the 4 bedroom! That is an awesome price, it would be about that for just a three bedroom here. Finding a rental with more than 2 bedrooms is a challenge, unless you rent a house. $$$$

Got all set for some chattiness and ring ring ring.. it was Pix :goodvibes got some chat in just not here.

She has that Friday off :woohoo:

:banana:I knew she would swing it!!!:thumbsup2

Are those like the wine tags?

Just sitting here watching the Haiti thing on the news. So sad. I know they are a poor country to start with and having this happen is just devastating.

I know that many of them have lost their homes and have no supplies. But just like with Hurricane Katrina, this is a wake up call for us all. We all need to have several days of food, water and other supplies at our homes. Or if not, make sure you can make it to my house, because I have about a six month supply of food, including TP!

Similar, they are mail in rebates sponsored by beer companies. The rebate is on meat, seafood, cheese, paper plates, etc. There are laws in some states that don't require beer purchase on these types of rebates. If it was a rebate on the beer only, that would be allowed. With the rebate on food or other purchases it is NBPN (no beer purchase necessary).
MN doesn't sell hard liquor or wine in grocery stores, but we still have beer and wine coolers.. not sure why we have that rebate law but I'm certainly going to take advantage of it! :thumbsup2

Me too! (note to self: stock up on TP again) :thumbsup2
Our biggest concern would be lack of electricity for Eloy to dialyze, he could survive a week without being too ill if he was very careful with fluids and food intake. We have a medication on hand in case of an emergency, it's a heavy duty nasty drug that will help pull the excess toxins out.. and he would be sitting on the throne in gut agony as it is purged from him.. yuck !

Well you bring the extra TP and head on over in the event of a natural disaster...cuz we have a generator. And I'm pretty sure we always have about 20 gallons or more of gas in the garage...not to mention a fleet of cars and motorcycles that we could syphon from if need be.:thumbsup2:laughing:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl:

Spent too much today. Eloy added extras to my cart  and I found a game on clearance the boys wanted, small splurges.
Had a cashier at Super Walmart tell me "the coupon says one per purchase, I'll let it through this time but the managers want us to do separate orders" :headache: Transaction vs purchase people, get a grip! Sure enough, the coupons where I had more than one of the same caused the register to beep and hold up the scanning.

She walked off with a handful of my coupons to "talk and see what they want me to do". I was nervous that she would come back with less of my precious slips of paper.

I know, over reacting

I've read the horror stories and have come across a cashier who didn't scan a high value coupon, just put it in her drawer.. uhh excuse me?? :confused3

She came back and manually put in coupon values of the multiples.
UGH! It worked out okay, but why do they have this policy??? It's so stupid! They would let me do single transactions to use the coupons, wasting more time, more paper for receipts and more expense on credit/ debit transactions. I'm curious if it's to prevent cashiers from scanning a coupon more than once accidentally (or on purpose) ? :sad2: When the drawer is counted down they would find the error, so why??

Target lets their cashiers have a lot more control, price over ride, coupon adjustments, etc. The employees don't seem as frazzled and crabby compared to Walmart's. :rolleyes1

Eloy said we will go to the Super Walmart further away next time, it's in an upper middle income suburbia. More coupon users :thumbsup2

funny huh? the group of people who really would benefit from coupons and need to keep the grocery budget low.. are the ones that generally don't use coupons. Same holds true of clearance deals, the more the area is lower income.. the more you find of clearance really really cheap. Middle class suburbia, slim pickings. Inner city, urban.. take your pick! Unlike some suburbialand folks, I have no qualms shopping in the city. Gimme! :lmao:

I organized my HBA stuff, packed my toiletry case at the same time.

I have way too many lady deodorants and only one guy kind.
Don't need any more feminine products, there is just no room! I put some in my bedroom closet, I bet I will forget them too.
No more lightbulbs, well maybe a few because they will be free this week after coupon. :rolleyes1
Apparently I really needed lotion, lots and lots of lotion.
And the coupons on shampoo must all be "not valid on x size" as I didn't have a single travel size bottle.

Plenty of body wash, lotion, detergent and toothpaste though.
Clean teeth, clean clothes, clean and moisturized body, stinky hair.

I cant wait to MOVE!!! I wont have to share a bathroom with dirty, messy pee on the seat children.. Just a dirty, messy, pee on the seat husband!:lmao: We are going to have SO MUCH space. :love:Our room is going to be all the way on the other side of the apartment from the kids. a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGG ways away. :cool1:I cant wait. I might actually be able to keep it clean. :lmao:

I never really thought about lower income neighborhoods not using coupons as much. But now that you mention it when I go to the Walmart on one side of Vancouver they always seem to have problems with coupons. But on the "money" side of town, no problems whatsoever.:confused3

Wow!! A 4 bedroom for only $900 a month???? OMG, that is a steal!! Do you know how much apartments are here? A one bedroom here costs around that price, even if it's in a ghetto area. :sad2: My bf's place is a 2 bedroom and is $1,300 a month. Yeesh! I noticed a couple of vacant apartments in his complex. His rate is actually the cheapest and in a not so great area. What's odd is that I see them building Luxary Apartments almost all over the place now. I wonder how the hell anyone could afford to live in those places. :confused3

Location, location, location!

We paid just over $1000 (+ elec and gas) in Moreno Valley for a 2 bedroom 1020 sq feet, lots of amenities (dishwasher, patio, pool, on site management, gate, reserved covered parking) but not great schools and the feel was suburbia but the students Eloy taught acted like the inner city kids he has now. :confused3

We looked at prices in Riverside before we decided to move back to MN, not as nice, similar to what we have now, close to the university would be in the $800- $900 range. We would have been just fine, Riverside has a different feel with older established neighborhoods and a nice mix of people. We felt like we belonged there each time we stopped in the area.

St cloud, MN we had a similar sized apartment with similar amenities, smaller city, okay schools. We stuck out like sore thumbs though. We paid $680 (+ elec).

Fridley, MN, first ring suburb, 750 sq feet, no dishwasher/ no pool/ no balcony, so-so school $720 +elec (now they advertise as $690). If not for the cruddy schools we would have moved back there.

:yay::yay::yay::yay:
I miss having our own bathroom, that was one perk I loved in the two bigger apartments we have lived. And a dishwasher, a gas stove, patio and pool would be really really nice! Oh well, here are until the boys are done with school.. 4 more years! :thumbsup2
