The Ultimate Thread of Countdown Calendars!

This is the current countdown that we have on our fridge! I couldn't find any fresh ideas online so I made up my own! Mickey ice cream bars are always my favorite so I thought I could make a countdown with them. Please ignore that little face in the corner, it's not supposed to be there (my dad thought he was being funny - or he's just too excited!).

I cut one ear to look like someone had taken a bite out of it, then put a piece of paper over it to make it look "uneaten". Everyday I pull an ear off until it's time to go. I love ripping off that ear as much as I love biting into them!

We've done one with a Cinderella Castle and pressed penny background like this.

For 2014 we wanted to do something specific to this trip. My son is jazzed about Star Wars Weekends.

We have cutouts of attractions we want to do this year as the days we put up.

On the back we have magnets so we can stick to the refrigerator.

What a delicious looking calendar! Nice job!

LOVE the chalkboard paint idea (or dry erase markers on a frame?). I have always done paper count downs, but I will be trying something like this for this trip at the end of September!

I'm enjoying being able to write and erase the chalk each day :) I've also always done paper countdowns, so this is new for me. I'm actually working on making some new paper countdown pieces with scrapbook paper and a jumbo Mickey head punch!

I have searched and found multiple threads where people have posted their ways to countdown to their Disney trips, but I thought it would be fun to have it all in one place! Over the years we've used a few different methods, but this is the one I made for this year. I saw the idea on Pinterest to countdown to Christmas, so I figured I could make a Disney one! In person, the ribbon and charger are almost the same pink, but it didn't photograph that way. I glued the polka dot ribbon onto the white ribbon before I tied the bow.

I bought a $1 plate charger at Michaels and painted the inside with chalkboard paint. Then I wrote the "days until Disney" part with a white Sharpie paint pen and glued the bow on top. The days are written with wet, white chalk. The wet chalk shows up better! Then I put the Mickey head stickers around the plate. Not the most creative thing in the world, but I like to try new things each year! Now...let's see YOURS!!

Oh my goodness! :moped:

I need to use this idea for every countdown everywhere for everything on this Spaceship Earth! Instead of Mickey stickers, is there a way to do studs or maybe have actually Mickey head holes put in the charger?

Aw, thanks! Pinterest! Ha! The chargers are pretty thick, so I don't know if you could punch through without breaking them? That would be super cute, though. Now you gave me an idea to Google or check Amazon for a cute Disney charger!

Most of those results are for computer cord chargers, unfortunately, and the plates are all plasticy and therefore probably couldn't hold up to my countdown needs, sadly.

This was my last project for our countdown calendar. The kids loved it. We are deciding what to do for our 6 week count down that will start this Thursday! I better figure it out soon :lmao:
