Yes...it was cheaper than the iPad.....but if you can save....buy Ipad2...... Much better and many more accessories. It's good for the kids though but I like my Ipad much better! The apps for HP can't compare
To the Ipad 2. I can't remind you enough
How much I love my extended warranty and tech
Support for Ipad....the kids are just surfing and
Using the HP basically for that and books. It was NOT
Worth that hassle!

Count me in as another taker if you don't like it. The airline broke my laptop screen and I think it will take a long time to see if they will pay for the repair. I was at WDW during the HP blowout, so I missed it!

Not to mention the operating system does not compare to that of an iPad. WebOS is pretty much junk!

Totally agree! We have an iPad2 and the 3 of us are constantly trying to get it from each other so we bought a TouchPad for $99. We knew going into it that there not as many apps as the iPad, but at least we can use it to check email or surf the web when DD is watching a movie, etc... It is good, but there is no way I would have ever paid $399 for it. My DD has some awesome $.99 games on the iPad and none are available on the TouchPad. Plus I can't stream Netflix and HBO Go.

For my parents the TouchPad is almost perfect. Mom can check email and surf the web while on vacation and she is using the Kindle app. If they just had a few more games (i.e. Scrabble) & Pandora it would be just right for her.

You can watch hbogo on the touchpad. There is no app, but if you go directly to hbogo it will stream from the website. Also, I'm pretty sure there is a pandora app. I have one on my webos phone.

OK, I'll check again. We finally got the OS to update late last night after trying for several days. Thanks!

Looks like the Touchpad will shortly be running Android, as well as WebOS, making it infinitely more useful than an iPad. Seems to me, a $99 10" Android tablet is a steal.

THIS!

Though I'd tend to agree (not having used one, yet, though) that the HP isn't worth 399, for 99 it's hard to go wrong. And once it's Android based, the apps will be near-limitless, and largely very similar to the iPad offerings.

I got one of the touchpads, and I LOVE it.
I don't have an ipad, so I can't compare the two, but for me it works.
I watch movies on Netflix.
I use the Kindle app to read books, and I love how it's lit up so I can read in the dark. My Nook isn't like that.
For $99 it's the best thing I bought in a long time.

Interesting confession. My friend has 2 iPads and a HP touchpad and doesn't like the iPads because it doesn't have Flash Player. She wanted another Touchpad because she can play music and do other stuff, and she says w/ the iPad you can only do one thing at a time. Not that I would know this firsthand because I don't have either! Thanks for your observation!

So funny. I spent the day today with bff and she has ipad 2 and was loving my touchpad. I didn't think it was a hassel at all on the contrary worth the wait. I love it and am happy I didn't waste my money on an ipad 2. Though if you have money to spare and would rather have an ipad2 I'm sure you'll find someone on ebay or the like to buy your touchpad from you.

As for everyone who loves there's I can only suggest keeping an eye out so many cool things to do with it. I've been able to tether with my phone and now I have free wifi on the touchpad everywhere. Also you can get other stuff to dl on it not just the stuff from the market place. I'd recomend doing a google search for what your looking for. I just DL a movie player for 5 dollars and have been dropping movies on it like crazy and you can put pandora on it. I'm having alot more fun and finding more uses for it everyday.

Kind of disappointed in my Touchpad. I went with HP because I do not like how Apple products have to have special everything to work. Well, I guess I should have done my research because the HP Touchpad requires you to download music to it through HP Play which asks that you have an ITunes account and to put movies on it, they have to be in the format that an IPad uses MPEG-$ or .m4v Forget about using any movies that I had already converted to digital for anything else, I had to rip any and start new to format them differently.

I also hoped to use it to write on my blog, but so far I have not been able to sign in to Blogspot through it, although I can still see my blog, I can't do anything to it. I can write to it via e-mail but cannot publish it without logging in. Forget about an App for it. Plus the cool games my son's want for it are $9.99. I am glad that I got the 32 GB but still think I have a lot to learn on it. It does take a real learning curve, not something you can just get on and play with. You can get Angry Birds for free but the other versions will cost you and seasons only comes in holding it vertically and completely upside down. I haven't tried Rio yet.

Also, I can connect with HBOGo but haven't been able to watch movies through it yet. I have watched Disney family Movies online though through my Disney Movie rewards account.

I am bringing it on my trip on Wednesday so I'll let you know how it holds up.

To copy music, videos, or photos to your TouchPad you do NOT need HP Play or iTunes. Simply plug your TouchPad into your computer using the supplied USB cable. Drag and drop your files from your computer onto the TouchPad. You are done! Video showing you these simple steps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MX8C5CN7vTQ

Using HP Play is only for those who have been brainwashed into thinking iTunes is useful. It makes your music sync with iTunes. I would suggest not doing this, the whole point of not having an Apple product is being free of the nightmare that is iTunes.

As to movies, the TouchPad supports H.263 and H.264 which is the standard for portable video. Every device supports MP4. If you have movies in other formats, you can easily convert to MP4. I'm not really sure of another format that would even be useful to display HD and keep the file size low.

Sorry, I have windows on everything so all of my digital movies are in .wmv format to watch easier and much smaller files. When going to the "how to" site for HP, it says to download HP Play and to have ITunes installed to use it. I did not add it to my computer since my DD does have an IPod but that's how it moved over.

I am just following the online directions. Also to get the movies converted on my, and most programs I found, you convert it to IPad format. None of the other formats work for the Touchpad.

I totally want one of the $99 Touchpads! I wish I would have been paying attention when you could get them!

rumor has it they will be selling them through the end of September. Good Luck !

I also finally got around the block from signing into my blog. had to type in the whole sign in page address into the web browser and it actually let me in.
