"....a trip 'around the World'? Hey, sure, I'M 'game'...."
....as we drove from the AK parking lot, the AK entrance now an ever-shrinking image in the rear-view mirror,my DS, Dylan, suddenly suggested that maybe we could spend some time at Epcot. After all, it was only a trifle past 2o'clock, and I for one, did NOT relish the thought of spending a beautiful afternoon back at the condo, even if it was blissfully empty, cool, and silent. What REALLY surprised me was Ron's retort, "Okay, how do we get there?" HOLY HANNAH, did I just hear what I thought I heard?
Yes, there MUST be a Disney God sitting on a big ol' cloud, along with Walt himself....
....".....ummmm, okay, well, uhhhhh, go down this road....stay to your right....no, I mean your LEFT!....move over.....make a left over here...I don't care if that Disney bus is approaching too fast...you'll MISS the turn...." ....
...."...yup, we pass this...this...this Tower of Terror thingie - this is the way there...stay to the right. Yes, I MEAN 'right' this time....now turn....TURN!....at the entrance...YAY! This is it!"[...I think I just aged about ten yars, but I suspect that's what I get for not being behind the wheel of the car...]:
....I can't think of anything more inviting than a 'Welcome' sign to a Disney park....we followed, like a herd of corralled cattle, on a seemingly endless line which eventually opened up into the parking lot, secured the car, and set off for the tram cars. We only waited briefly, as the next one appraoched:
....making our way past the exiting guests, we finally found ourselves at the mouth of Epcot:
...straight away, we hurriedly walked to the leftmost section of Futureworld to satisfy what we yearned for - the NEED for SPEED!
...my desire was to enter through the 'Single Rider' queue, but Ron wasn't having any of that short-lived idea, so we braved the queue line inside, which actually turned out to be fairly short and ever-moving, belying the appearance of the crowd in the photo above...since I had been having issues with my neck, I thought that this would be appropriate to capture for posterity:
[...'calibration'...hmmmm
wonder if it hurts less than acupuncture?]
....we continued our wait on the winding queue of Test Track, some of us more engrossed than others:
...we finally arrived at the entrance to the pre-show, but, for some strange reason, the movie was not being viewed on this day, so we passed along through and made our way to our own personal test car...remember, put on your seat belts - SAFETY FIRST!
[...told ya! We were checking out the anti-lock brakes...
[...I'm fa-fa-fa-fa-FREE-zing...!
[...corrosion, YIKES! Good thing I wasn't wearing any AQUA-NET!]
....at the end of the ride, we jumped off our vehicle, winding down and around to the showroom:
....where, of course, Dylan just HAD to pose in front of his favorite "machine", the Transformers' version of the new Camaro:
...after checking out the newest additions to Innoventions East and West, THEY decided that we didn't want to experience too much of this park, since we'd be returning here on Friday [I just KNEW it was too good to be true to actually meander through the countries of World Showcase...
], so, before leaving Epcot, we decided to go for a spin on Spaceship Earth:
[...true-to-form, Ron is, once again, sporting those dag-gone JEANS!]
...we glided along, at a comfortable pace, journeying throughout the history of communication:
....wow, two Disney parks in one day. Who was I to complain, as we left the lot of Epcot, to make our way 'home'. It was a 'win-win' situation. Besides, our hearty breakfast and snacking throughout the day was not enough to satisfy our hunger...
