The TRIP of all Trips... Ana's MAW PTR... *TR STARTED* Link- Post #1901 Pg. 127

Good luck with Juliana's doctor's appointment. You know we're all always praying for her! :goodvibes

I hope the dr appt goes okay next week and I also hope that the doc moves you out to every six months. Keeping fingers crossed that the calendar fills up with everything you guys want to do!!!

I hope the doctor appointment goes well and you get the news of not having to come back for 6 months!!!

And forgive me for asking, I have a boy, what is the Princess Tea at the GF? Is it the same one as with Alice and the Mad Hatter? I once read a TR with that one in it - and it was adorable!! A Tea at the GF is always good -and yes, SUPER girly. Perfect! :goodvibes

Yours plans are lookin' good. It's too bad you can't fit everything you want in, but that's the tricky part of Disney - you always gotta go back, and back, and back again!

Crossing fingers for the 6 month mark ! sending well wishes and lots of :grouphug: 's
Thank you. :)

All of this is totally doable! Even the relax part. :woohoo:
Have you ever read my TRs? (I know you have... just a rhetorical question) I don't think we have relaxed one day while we were in Disney!!!! :lmao::lmao:

We will see about December. WDW Today is one of my favorite podcasts and the people that run it are really great guys - so I would like to hopefully participate in a reunion at some point. I missed the one last year... And I still have some things on my Christmas at Disney bucket list to do.
A Christmas bucket list...... :santa:

It would be great if you were there the same time as us.

After being the first poster, I am sorry that I kind of dissappeared! I just did not want to take up space on the first page since people like to be on it! :goodvibes And then I was on vacation.
That's OK... I know you took a mini vacation.

But it seems that it really took some time until others found your PTR! What a story about Juliana! I hope her appointment next week goes as you hope it will! :thumbsup2
I didn't tell anyone about it for a few days... I wanted to get some info together first. Why I even started it when I did was questionable in the first place. ;) LOL

Thank you.:goodvibes

I'm trying to replay from my phone... again.lol

WS is out.... it just takes too long.
OK I think I will just read from my phone and not 'replay'. :lmao::lmao:

Mvmcp is a whole night ordeal... where dhs can be done in s fre hound with the gac
I think this is supposed to read...'where dhs can be done in a few hours with the gac

UGH... I'm blaming the auto correct! ::yes::

I would skip Sea World and Universal until the warmer weather and when you have more time. We've not done Sea World in 13 years (since Markie was 9) and we've not done Universal since 2004 when we went with Andy and his "then" girlfriend for his high school graduation (we went to the "OLD" people side, and they went to Islands of Adventure).
The thing is Kathy is MAW & GKTW gives you passes for SW and US. They also give you a 3 day PH WDW ticket. I mean I guess we could skip US and SW all together but I think to make this trip a little different we will do it. If nothing else at least SW.

Good luck with Juliana's doctor's appointment. You know we're all always praying for her! :goodvibes
Thank you.

I was hoping the calendar wasn't filled up totally! I need to decide on park days so I can book a few ADRs.

Thank you. :goodvibes

There are two teas at the GF. One is the one with Alice and the Mad Hatter and the other one is with Aurora. You can check it out here http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/princessess.htm#DisneyGirl

It costs..get ready... $250! It is for 2 people, so Juliana and Mel would go while I would probably have 1 1/2 hours to get into trouble.

Yours plans are lookin' good. It's too bad you can't fit everything you want in, but that's the tricky part of Disney - you always gotta go back, and back, and back again!
Tell me about it! :lmao::lmao:

Oh, I didn't realize that. I would definitely do Sea World then. My kids LOVED this when they were young -- all the shows, the exhibits, feeding the dolphins, petting the stingrays...a great time. They used to have a huge playground with a big boat too (like I said it's been years since we've been there so I'm not sure about that anymore...but I'm sure you could look it up on their website). And the strollers used to be in the shape of dolphins--too cute.

Universal you could probably do--there is a children's area at both parks (I want to say the "old" section has Nickelodeon. Someone who goes there more would probably know (since we aren't big coaster buffs anymore -- you know that "old" thing again -- we no longer choose to go; although we do go to CityWalk to eat at Emeril's).

Tell me about it! :lmao::lmao:[/QUOTE]

:scared1:

I would differently do Sea World. Island of Adventure has a very cute Dr. Seuss area. I think Ana would love that.

The calendar is awefully vague at this point. :lmao: But that's the beauty of it. You have infinite possibilities at this point.

Okay, few thoughts....
Sea world I would def. do again if the tix were free, but next time I would go left to do the dolphin feeding (a free perk for wish kids) then back track past the front gate and go right to the Clydesdale and Shamu's Happy Harbor area (we missed those - ran out of time because we went clockwise after the dolphins). IF you are having a good time and want to continue, the pick a pearl was neat because the divers show you a bunch of oysters in the tank and you choose, then they swim it up to you. Not at a stand like the Disney places. The big rides looked fun for adventurous folks. Tessa loved Atlantis but was too short for the manta ray one. We also ate at Shark's Underwater Grill, which is similar to the Disney underwater one. It was good food, even if expensive, but a very unique atmosphere, that we would probably not do every time we visited in the future. The manager gave us a "Tank side" table when we mentioned the wish trip. The penguins were boring and we didn't do ANY shows. We just didn't think Phoebe would be able to see them, and I didn't make any arrangements ahead of time to do a backstage meet or anything like that. Piper met the penguins (although we haven't heard about that part of the trip) and someone else made arrangements for backstage something or other, but can't remember who. You might consider contacting them if you think she'd enjoy that.

IOA- we enjoyed Suess landing, and the marvel comic area was okay too, but the rides in Suess were for very young kids. Tessa was bored. Harry Potter is open now, which might be worth a stroll through, even if you aren't big fans (we're not but it wasn't open yet). It would be very doable to see both US parks in one day if you start relatively early.

US - we only got a few hours in and not all the rides were open, but from what we saw, I think this side would be better for Ana's age. We hit Simpsons (Tessa LOVED that), MIB (again, LOVED it) and Shrek (tolerated it but loved the meet n greet across the street (hey that rhymed!)). The little kids area wasn't open yet when we went through but I think that would have a couple of things she'd like. Mainly I would go just because it's free and it will give you a chance to see if it grabs your attention and is worth it on future trips.

Christmas party at GKTW village - what is it that makes you want to go? I made that a priority because several other WTers said it was so awesome. I didn't think too much about WHY. GKTW has several other parties that might be as fun if not MORE for your family. Candyland looked like it would be fun (followed by a street party) but it rained on us. Pool party got rained out too. The only party we got to play at was Mayor Clayton's bday party the night we arrived. Tessa did some line dancing, they ate bday cake, and saw some "characters". That's more than we did at Cmas because we were in line for hours. (Cmas was basically the same as the bday party except they had a "parade" similar to something your neighborhood might do for a holiday, fake snow blowing over a small area, and carriage rides around the village). So if you think Cmas would be fun, then go for it, just be the first in line for Santa! If you put it as priority because others said to, then have some backup choices as well. If it was storming that night, then I imagine the only thing they could do is meet Santa. :confused3 The other parties sounded very fun if it hadn't been raining on us, and I remember hearing a few families really had a blast at the Village Idol (I know Ana likes to sing at 6am, so maybe she is a budding star???) and the game night (can't think of the name - kinda like Nickelodeon where they throw pies in your face and stuff). I am not trying to talk you out of Cmas, just trying to keep you from working the schedule around it if you're not even sure why you made it a priority (what I did).

GKTW also has a tea party on Sundays, but it got cancelled on our Sunday for no apparent reason. Probably not worth substituting the Disney one for, but maybe in addition to? With the cousins? Or maybe a party night would be fun for them? Candyland would be fun for them, something they would never do anywhere else! :goodvibes

I think Juliana would really love SW. She loves animals and loves going to zoos and aquariums. I need to revamp my must do list.. there were a few things I forgot to add on there.

I love coasters! If I can sneak away for a bit I'd love to ride a BIG coaster.

I know what you mean! I am battling with auto correct all the time as well... And for me it even wants to transform the English words into German ones. :scared1:
OH GEEZ!!!! I'd loose it!!! :lmao:

Yeah, I was wondering about that... :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:
Ummm yea. I re-read what I typed when I got home. I'm glad I only responded to one post! :rotfl2:

I would differently do Sea World. Island of Adventure has a very cute Dr. Seuss area. I think Ana would love that.
Juliana knows the Cat in the Hat from the Dr. Seuss books.... hummmm decisions decisions.

The calendar is awefully vague at this point. :lmao: But that's the beauty of it. You have infinite possibilities at this point.
......quite vague! :rotfl2:

Okay, few thoughts....

Melissa, thanks for this great write up! I'm sure Juliana would LOVE to do the dolphin feeding! I just opened up a SW map so I can follow along with what you are saying... (and I couldn't help but notice those 2 huge coasters! LOL) I guess I really have some research to do.

I think I'd like to see both parks in one day or atleast go through one fairly throughly. I never followed any Harry Potter stuff so I don't know if I would even care about this. I wonder what the park hours are for December?

US - we only got a few hours in and not all the rides were open, but from what we saw, I think this side would be better for Ana's age. We hit Simpsons (Tessa LOVED that), MIB (again, LOVED it) and Shrek (tolerated it but loved the meet n greet across the street (hey that rhymed!)). Mainly I would go just because it's free and it will give you a chance to see if it grabs your attention and is worth it on future trips.
Why weren't all the rides open? (i forgot) Was it the rain?

Hummm man... there are so many choices!

Christmas party at GKTW village - what is it that makes you want to go?
I think it would be neat because we will be so close to Christmas and from reading other Wish TRs. Although after reading yours I started second guessing myself. :rotfl:
I made that a priority because several other WTers said it was so awesome. I didn't think too much about WHY. GKTW has several other parties that might be as fun if not MORE for your family. Candyland looked like it would be fun (followed by a street party) but it rained on us. Pool party got rained out too. If it was storming that night, then I imagine the only thing they could do is meet Santa. :confused3
I guess if we did MVMCP then we could think of skipping this. I feel we should enjoy GKTW to it's fullest though. I know we can visit at any time but we will never be staying there again.

The other parties sounded very fun if it hadn't been raining on us, and I remember hearing a few families really had a blast at the Village Idol (I know Ana likes to sing at 6am, so maybe she is a budding star???) and the game night (can't think of the name - kinda like Nickelodeon where they throw pies in your face and stuff). I am not trying to talk you out of Cmas, just trying to keep you from working the schedule around it if you're not even sure why you made it a priority (what I did).
Juliana sings... but I'm not so sure she would do it infront of a bunch of other people. I will definitely keep our options open.

:goodvibes
I'm pretty sure Melody really wants to take Juliana to the GF tea party.

I like your idea of Candyland... possibly including her cousins.

Thanks again for this great write up!!!!! :worship:

Just finished 3 posts of updates for my TR and now I'm up WAY too late, even for me but...

We did a half day at US on the tail end of our trip. We got there at "rope drop" and some areas were still closed as we made our way into the park. I haven't shared that day yet. ;)

I went back and looked at your calendar. You guys arrive on Weds afternoon (I assume) and leave Tues afternoon (I assume). So the activity for Tues night is out (going to their site to look.... and you're in luck!). It's the Family Fun Night, which you don't sound too interested in, so no big loss. I was also thinking if you do the activity for Weds night after you arrive it would save the other longer days for parks, but Weds night is Village Idol, again not a top priority for you. Not much help there, but figured it was worth checking. Just remember that they don't do any activities twice in one week except for Horse back riding. Also, the Cmas party appears to start earlier than all the others. Santa starts at 6:30, and the other nights are 7:30 or so.

Oh, and I forgot one more party night - the Pirates and Princesses party with Shamu and friends. I think they start with a party in the commons area then go in the theatre and crown all the girls princesses and boys as pirates. I remember Stephanie (stefanilyn) did this one, so you might check out her TR for deets. That was our travel day so it was not an option for us.

Well, keep this handy while you are deciding...
http://www.gktw.org/pre/village/schedule.asp?p=village

You mentioned enjoying GKTW to it's fullest, which I get....we had never been to Orlando before this trip and hope to, but can't plan to at this point, return....but a wish child is welcome to return for a VISIT to the village at any future time, they just can't sleep there again. (Unless they are unlucky enough to have a sibling who gets the same wish, of course). Since you guys seem to be willing/able to visit Orlando on a continuing basis, I wouldn't feel too pressured to do everything they offer in this one week. I get the impulse though!

Hi Tim!
I'm here!! I was trying to get caught up with your trip report and saw that this was started!!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

I knew part of Julianna's story but didn't really realize what you all had gone through. Seeing the pictures makes it that much more real. Ugh I just can't even imagine going through something like that. We had one scary thing with Owen that I can at least relate to being in a hospital with a little one and how it felt to sleep in that awful little crib.... Last year Owen got sick - horrible pains that he would scream in agony and then be fine.... I took him to the local ER and we were taken by ambulance to Childrens Hospital... we spent 4 days there and the poor little guy had every test under the sun, was poked and stuck with a million needles and remember going into this little waiting room area with him (because our room wasnt private and there was a very sick and loud baby next to us and I was trying to let Owen sleep) and I held him and sobbed for his whole 3 hour much needed nap. It was so scary. They went from all kinds of scary ideas to in the end saying it may have just been a horrible virus. :scared1: While we were there we saw so many really sick kids with cancer and other really scary stuff and it was such an eye opening experience. Life is so precious.... and it makes me appreciate my kids and love them as much as I can everyday and I can tell your family is very much the same as ours... filled with lots of laughter and love.

Looking forward to hearing more about this very special trip!!

If you do Christmas (and I love the idea of it and have seen some families say it was their favorite of the GKTW parties) - then it is important to get in line for Santa FIRST. Before you do anything else - do Santa. Maybe have that be a short park day and get back in time to rest and dress up for the party.

And you can go ahead and let Juliana pick out a present, too - before they get picked over - since they don't have an unlimited supply of each toy.

Santa spends a lot of time with each family and you can wait hours for Santa and miss the party.

If you happen to be late - then I would do stuff at the party and try to catch Santa toward the end of the night and be ok with just missing him altogether in favor of doing the activities (parade, cookies, snow, carriage rides).

But MVMCP was fun, too!

Perfect! :goodvibes

Gee I wonder who's you read that on? LOL!

This one is MUCH more expensive though. I would love to take Claire ot it, but can't justify the price.

Tim, this is what I would do... :rolleyes1
I think since you are getting free tickets to sea world and US to go to each and make the most of it. These are 2 parks I want to go to and am contemplating hitting at least one next trip. But the cost is so high for a 1 day ticket. But if I had them for free it would be a no brainer...and you do get to go to WDW alot, so I would do what you can at the parks, but not make them the most important this trip. I would do this trip around the other 2 parks and the make a wish activities more.
I'm a big Harry Potter fan, but have heard that the waits are really long, and my guess is it will take a good year for them to go down much, so my thinking at this point for my family is to maybe do Sea World next trip....maybe. LOL!
I think you guys will have a wonderful time though.

I think Juliana would really love SW. She loves animals and loves going to zoos and aquariums. I need to revamp my must do list.. there were a few things I forgot to add on there.

I love coasters! If I can sneak away for a bit I'd love to ride a BIG coaster.

The problem with you "sneaking" away, is that I don't think you can split your day between the two parks--it's either Univeral or it's Islands of Adventure. There are some coasters on the Univeral sisde, but the ones on IofA are better and faster.

Juliana will LOVE SW then if she loves animals. It is a great park and Mark and I really need to get back there.

Be wildly creative!! :rotfl2:
Hummmmm..... you got me thinking.. :rolleyes1

Just finished 3 posts of updates for my TR and now I'm up WAY too late, even for me but...
I hope you got some sleep last night!

We did a half day at US on the tail end of our trip. We got there at "rope drop" and some areas were still closed as we made our way into the park. I haven't shared that day yet. ;)
I'll be looking forward to that part. Weird though... the park is open but some rides are still closed?

I remember reading this on Stephani's TR (anyone heard from her lately?) and it seemed like it was a great party. Juliana might really get a kick out of this party.

Well, keep this handy while you are deciding...

I hear you. We can always go back and visit or go to a party. When you go back do they have your name on file or do you have a card or something like that?

Hi Tim!
I'm here!! I was trying to get caught up with your trip report and saw that this was started!!!:woohoo: :woohoo:
:welcome:

Thanks for joining!!!

There is nothing scarier than not being able to help your kids. I'm glad it was 'only' a virus that was bothering Owen. It breaks our heart when we go back to the hospital and see kids going through cancer and other issues. It makes us thankful everyday that we are still able to hug and kiss our little girl.

I wonder what Juliana would rather do... see Santa at GKTW or goto MVMCP? It sounds like we have to be at GKTW ready for the party at 6pm. I'm thinking this couldn't be a Disney day... maybe a US day. :confused3

Gee I wonder who's you read that on? LOL!

This one is MUCH more expensive though. I would love to take Claire ot it, but can't justify the price.
One thing is MAW will pay for one 'excursion'(for lack of a better term) ie. pay for a character meal, pay for MVMCP, or pay for the princess tea.

Tim, this is what I would do... :rolleyes1

There is so much to do and so little time! Seriously, trying to fit everything into 5 days is pretty stressful. The problem is Juliana loves Disney so much I know we have to spend minimum 3 days (different times) there. SW does sound like a great time though. :)

The problem with you "sneaking" away, is that I don't think you can split your day between the two parks--it's either Univeral or it's Islands of Adventure. There are some coasters on the Univeral sisde, but the ones on IofA are better and faster.
Oh... back to the drawing board! :happytv:

Juliana will LOVE SW then if she loves animals. It is a great park and Mark and I really need to get back there.
I'm thinking SW is more and more something we will be definitely be doing!

From Juliana (we just finished watching Peter Pan.. It is storming here):::
