Part 2-
Day 2-After eating the very nice free breakfast at the hotel we leave our off-site hotel and head to AKL to check in early. I am wishing for an upgrade but don't really care. They had already guaranteed me bunks in our pool view room so that was good enough. I think I should explain our family situation here. My youngest daughter has an illness called Tuberous Sclerosis. This is benign tumors that can grow in the major organs of your body. (such as brain, kidneys, lungs, eyes, heart, and also they can have facial angiofibromas) Depending on where the tumors are located and the size helps to determine the severity of this illness. My DD 8 has a siezure disorder along with, learning disabilities, sleep disorder, ADHD, severe facial angiofibromas, along with a few other more minor difficulties from this illness. She needs to get much more sleep than a normal 8 year old or she has seizures along with behavior problems. I learned from this board that you can call and talk to people about requests. We really wanted a bunk so we could put blankets around it and seclude her while she would take her naps. It is so hard to be quiet in a single room hotel room. She takes comfort in being secluded like that and would sleep much better she thinks of it as a private club house, and we could be out on our patio without any problems. We did take advantage of the bunks that way. They did guarentee bunks for us because of the medical needs and our reasoning.

Sorry to bore you. I'll move on to what you really want to hear about.
AKL is beautiful, the size and the detail is fantastic! We got a room with bunks, and a patio right off the pool area. We were in the Giraffe Trail section with a small, really too small patio looking right out to the pool. The room was good size, not huge but was great for us and what we needed. After check in wew explored the hotel, as we were able to get right into our room! Our youngest took a nap while oldest DD and I got to explore. What a beautiful place. DD of course quickly found the gift shop and made friends with some of the employees and learned exactly what pin trading was. Our friend who is into it big told us about it but didn't explain it well enough for us to understand fully. He sent us with a bag of about 40 pins he bought for $3 each and told us to trade all of them and then we would work it out when we got back. Well needless to say, our DD's got hooked and we ended up paying him for all of the pins and the girls bought some too. More on that later.

After DD woke we headed towards, MGM to check it out real quick and then on to the early Hoop De Doo review. I was able to get a AAA Double Diamond parking pass from my AAA agent and that came in real handy!! :) We parked ever day in the rows behind the handicapped parking, except once at AK.

At MGM we went to the customer service counter to talk to someone about get a pass for analternative waiting area for our DD on certain ride. Our #1 concern was she can't be out in the beating sun tool long even when we lube her up with lotion. The facial angiofibromas get very, very red and stay that way until her next laser surgery if it gets too bad. Also, with some of her other issues she'd never make it standing in a small crampped space for very long waitiing in line. We had been told they sometimes provide an alternate waiting area if you have a pass. So anyways, I learned from this board, thank you again, to bring a note from our DR. explaning our situation. The cast member started to read it and then asked us to describe a little about TS, he then said wait and left and returned with a small red & white card and stamped on it alernate entrance. We went in and just walked around and sight saw. We went to the little mermaid show and then headed for our early show of the Hoop De Doo Review.

After getting a little turned aroung driving we made it just in time. You have to park and then take buses into the Review, and the buses go throughout the campgrounds. We had seats almost exactly in the middle and about a 1/3 back from the stage. Dinner was good, ribs & chicken, beer and wine were also included. One of the best pictures I got of my DD 11 was of her not knowing I was shooting, was during the show & what a great smile she had. They finish desert with strawberry shortcake and the kids playing a washboard with their spoons. Lots of fun! The good looking blonde in the show was out doing a number and she looks at me and winks and then goes on to play aroound talking to me like we were old friends, I tell her my wife is here and everyone laughs. She sat on my lap and played it up my DD 8 was looking at her like who is that woman sitting on my daddys lap. Needless to say, I did enjoy it. Later she came by during the show & I got a smacker on the Cheek! :smooth: I'm glad I didn't get picked for a couple of the other spots where they take up people. I won't ruin it but you should encourage others to volunteer to go up. When the show was over we headed over to the Yatch & Beach club. My schools music teacher had a reservation for an Illuminations crusie and when she found out we were going to be there at the same time she invited us as she only had 4 people on her 12 person boat. We of cousre it rained and had too much lightening for us to go out, but it was nice to see them and see the Y&BC. We went back to AKL and DD8 fell asleep on the way so I carried her in and then DD11 & I explored some more of the AKL.

Our room was just down a couple doors from the evelvator and the doors out to the pool area. We really liked the location. I liked that you could walk right out to the pool area and to the Mara food court. We found where the laundry was and the kids sitter area was. My DD11 alway had to spend some time in the gift shop. The cast members where great to her and my younger one too. We hit the sack about 11:00 that night ready for a new day in this fantastic place, called Disney World.

to be continued.......
This is truly bringing tears of joy to my eyes writting this and the fantastic memories that are coming out so strongly. Thank you. :)
