WEll here goes nothing.
This truly was the best trip we have ever had!!! :thewave:
Thanks to this board, all of you made it what it was!!!
A quick overview and then detail. I know I will have to do this in a few installments as I don't type well and don't have that much time each time to sit down.
Paricipants, Me, DW, DD 11 & DD 8
Flew from Denver to Orlando June 6, 1st night at Quality Suites
June 7 to June 14 at AKL
June 14 to June 18 at Portifino Bay
June 18 last night off at Holiday Inn(became Ramada during our trip) near airport
Flew out June 6 and arrived Orlando at 1:57pm. No problems with United
Thanks to this board I joined the Emerald Isle Club for free of course and used it with no problems. I resreved a mid size and hopped for an upgrade. After we got our bags we went to the rental lot on A and found a PT Cruiser that the girls all wanted but it wouldn't hold our bags without putting stuff inbetween the girls in the back so I had DW and DD wait with the PT and took my older daughter and we wewnt over to B and found a guy to help us and he was going to give me a Rendevous but just we got to it another lot attendant drove off in it, so he took us over to a bunch of mini SUV's and said pick one. I didn't want a white one and I wanted on with a directional computer in it so I could navigate better. No mountains down in Orlando for me to use as a reference. My daughter picked real nice, almost new red Saturn VUE. We used our card and we paid I believe $144 for the whole time we were gonna, I forget the codes we had, but it was great!!!
While we were looking for our car in B I think I saw GeminiMom getting into here blue PT Crusier with her family, I called out to her but not sure if she heard me. I would have liked to said hi. We were gonna wrestle for a PT if they only had one left.
We went over and picked up my wife and other DD and headed out to Quality Suites. $48 for 1 night. This is the one with the Mardi Gras theme. The drive to it wasn't too tough as I printed maps before leaving. We got there about 3:00. We had a regular room reserved. At check in I asked if they had anything better available and without any extra cost, we were upgraded to a huge 2 bedroom suite. Both bedrooms where huge. One had it's own full bathroom. They both had tv's also. The living room and kitchen were very large also. This was just for the 1st night but it was nice to have lots of room. The place it self is not that great. It look worn and dirty in many places. I don't think we would have stayed here very long. They pool was nice and large and the bar outside next to it was nice. I fully enjoyed the free evening reception
. We checked out olde town but it was a little too seedy for us. And felt the ride didn't look too safe and plus we were heading to Disney World, where they have the best ride anyways. We did eat at the pizza place there and that was very good. I forgot the name, sorry. The elevevators were very slow and kids playing on them alot so we used the stairs most of the time. It's amazing what a little extra O2 will do for the lungs when you come from Colorado. They need to clean the stairwells and walls. They were pretty nasty. The kids swam and we had beverages and enjoyed a quiet evening at the hotel and then moved on!!! Overall it wasn't a bad place for the price, but I think there a others that are cleaner and nicer for the price.
More later. How am I doing?
