The Triathlon thread

Steve - They are already out of teh syle I want in the 2008. They have 1 left in teh style Scott wants. Found that most of the 2008s of Treks are already sold out in our area too. :guilty:

Suzann - I know there are some in teh books we have. If I can find time, I'll try to scan and send tonight. I'm pretty tapped out for home computer time, though.

Leana...I finally got a chance to read your RR! You were super!! :cool1: Obviously well prepared for your first tri! and I love the pics...looks like you've been doing this all your life! Thanks for sharing.

And...what is the detail on the necklace? Was that your prize for 3rd in first timer division?

Thanks for the good wishes for IMC...It will be fun (in a long 14 hour of exercise sick sort of way) :goodvibes

Steve...
I have a 53-39 on the front, and usually have a 12-25 on the back. Will put on a 12-27 or a 11-23, depending on the race conditions. (say...Austria vs. Florida:laughing: )
I have 650 wheels, though, so a 25 is more like a 27 anyway.

To make things confusing, my P2K is a 9 speed, and my P2C is a 10 speed, and I have only one set of race wheels, so I also have to remember which cassette I have on the race wheels to make sure it matches the bike! (I know, I should only race the P2C, but there were situations that made the P2K necessary for a few races this year.)

And yes, esp. my p2k climbs like a ton of bricks. My road bike (Titanium Lemond) is on loan to a friend most of the year, so I don't get to ride it too much, but I'm sure it climbs better. It also has 700 wheels, so I can hold speed longer, but doesn't have the quicker acceleration I feel with the 650s.

Need I say I also get to switch between clinchers and tubulars when I race?
Oy.

Holy Cheeze Whiz, Batman!! I did not realize absolutely how much cra.......... errrr, STUFF one needs to run a Tri.

My packing list for my last cruise was shorter!!

BTW, I have been lurking on this thread for a while, but since I cajoled/convinced/harassed/abused/beat a couple of my friends from work to do it, we are all entering the AfacTri @ WDW in September.

Wish us luck & double check those AED Batteries !!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Jim, have fun at the tri....I would have loved to have done that one, but I'll be travelling for work that weekend. The good thing is that the Prefontaine 10K will be the same weekend, in the town I'll be going to, so I'll do that instead.
Pre lives! :goodvibes

Jim - You swim in teh ocean, bike for what seems liek days straight adn run on the same days. I guess I never caught that you didn't actually do Tris. WTH? :rotfl: You will do awesome. I am actually wishing i had another one scheduled, which is nuts if you read my report. There's somethign very addictie about it though.

Betsy - ICM? How'd I miss that?

Carrie...I had to get a 2009 Trek as well. I was hoping for a Fall Clearance Special, but since they didn't have any 08s that was not to be. I wanted the WSD 7.2 FX bike, but all the 2008 were sold out everywhere around here. They were all waiting on the 2009 to come it. I finally found one store about a 1/2 hr. from where we work (1.5 hrs from home) that had one 2009 Trek FX 7.2 WSD. They also had a 7.2 in Men's for DH. We both really like our Trek bikes and I do really like the women's! I'm short and was being highly encouraged to get a WSD. I went w/ the FX because it's a "fitness" bike. Kinda between a road and hybrid. It has a little bit of tread on the tires, but I can change them out more slicker road tires if I need to. So far these have been great---so much better than the mountain bike I tried to start with. We may one day invest in a road bike, I'm pretty sure I'll stick w/ Trek and the WSDs, but we just couldn't sink that much $$$ into two bikes until we knew this was something we would continue to do. For me, I think the FX WSD is a good starter bike and perfect for our needs right now.

I hope you can find what you are looking for!

I just got a pair of Pearl Izumi bike shorts. I plan to try them out today...

Stacie

PS. Scojo15 and Amybeth both have Treks Road bikes. Amy's is a WSD and I think they both like their's a lot.

I just made a new signature for myself.. if anyone wants one made or personalized, let me know :goodvibes

 That is awesome!!!!!!!! Debating if I'd feel liek a poser or if it's just too cool to pass up. ;)

I could make you a smaller one and different color if you wish :thumbsup2

Oh, I had a race question... it seems silly though.

Do you guys put on deodorant in T1? I don't want to be worrying about me stinking :rolleyes1

Suzann, to me, that sounds like stopping at mile 3 of a half and puitting deoderant on. Everyone will stink. If you're really worried. Get teh new secret that's percriptions strength or something like that. That stay on in teh water no problem. JMO.

WOW! That is cool! Love it! Maybe I'll feel like a wanna-be if I use it because I haven't actually done one yet! :goodvibes

I am 99% sure I am going to register in Jan/Feb for the Danskin Women's Tri at WDW that will be in May 2009. They won't release the date until January (so I was told). I am planning to do it though if it is still in May and at WDW.

So...what the heck! Could you shrink it (maybe 1/2 - 1/4 that size) and make it a pink or sea green/seafoam color?

Thanks!!!
Stacie

Oh...btw...I just took my bike out to the bank and back. Geez! What a workout. Sometimes I forget how hard it is. I feel so slow too!

Ha.. see, I knew it was a silly question :lmao:

I'm trying to decide between that one and the Danskin that is closer to home. There are of course all kinds of logical reasons to do it here but come on....It's Disney!!

I've got a Fuji women's bike. Changed out the pedals and will likely change tires. They're only slightly knobby - good on crushed limestone but not much more "rugged" than that. Will also likely go to road bike at some point but like others did not want to lay out the $$ until I was sure.

I will still be taking swim lessons over the winter but my lap work has been going much better. Got in 15 min worth of laps last night (after TM and weights) and felt good. Getting smoother.

Yay!!! They look great! Now...which color??? Decisions, Decisions!

I know what you mean about doing one closer to home... There will be some around here (not Danskin) but I just have this thing of doing my first one at WDW. I'm confident I could be in descent enough shape to do one before May 2009, but again...It's the Disney thing.

Last year they say that for the Danskin, WDW, registration open and then closed in 7 hours. It filled sooo fast! I think it opens up around the end of Jan/first of Feb, so we'll have to know for sure if that's what we want to do. Mentally, I'm planning on it! :thumbsup2

I'd love to do Danskin, but it's usually Mother's Day weekend. With a mom and a MIL to visit, just not happenin.
