The Travoltas are expecting!

I'm happy for them. But, holy cow! Kelly is 47. I guess I can't skimp on my BC any time soon.

I wish her a happy healthy pregnancy.

I was so happy for them when I heard that!

God bless them and their beautiful little baby to be and Ella.

Wow! I'm happy for them. I just hope they aren't do this to 'replace' their son.

I am so happy to hear this news, she has been saying she's wanted another baby for years.

What's up with all the Travolta news? At the bottom of the page is a post about their dog getting killed at an airport and now this one about a baby. Just thought it was odd....
At the age of 47, I wish her all the best in having a baby. I hope the baby is healthy and they are all happy together. :lovestruc

I'd say you're safe. Although you hear of rare "natural" pregnancies at that age, if I had to bet, my money would be on assisted reproduction. To be more specific, donor eggs. Statistics almost guarantee it. Women are doing this more and more, but often just don't make the information public knowledge for a variety of reasons. In truth, I don't believe they owe anyone an explanation. I'm happy for them and wish them well.

No, they don't owe anyone anything, and you're probably correct that it was deliberate given the timing, but don't kid yourself that natural pregnancies are all that rare after 45. My OB (who is not a high-risk specialist or RE) had 4 of us two years ago. Not a big number given the several hundred babies delivered by her office in a given year, but not miracle territory, either.

FTR, my mom was 48 when I was born, and both of my grandmothers had healthy children after 45.

I wasn't born to a spring chicken either, although she was on the lesser side of 40. :rotfl: I'm just saying if they've been trying to have a baby for years with no luck, when you add in the tragedy of their son's death, it's not a leap to think they may very well have decided it was time to go that extra step to make double dog certain they had a baby. I couldn't blame them.

If I was a celebrity who used donor eggs, I would likely never discuss it. The poor kid would be hounded for years and be the subject of all sorts of stories. I've seen the less than sensitive way children who were adopted can be treated by the press and in a way, children from donor eggs were just adopted before birth. So many of the same sort of stories can be done regarding them. When you're as famous as the Travoltas, it's not unthinkable that someone would try and pay off someone to access medical records, even to the extent of finding out who the donor was.

So in their shoes, since it is within the realm of possibility that the baby was conceived naturally, I'd ignore any questions. It's their child, period. Whether it's her egg or a donor egg...their baby. They've had a rough time and deserve some happiness.

It's no secret that they have wanted another baby for years. I remember her saying that she loved being pregnant.

Good for them!

I don't know how old you are, but NO WAY! Some older women, when they start going though the change, think they don't need BC anymore. There are many many children gracing the world that are known as "change of life babies". My mom had one at 40. My boss and his wife just blessed the world with theirs 2 years ago. She was 44.

What makes it dangerous for an older woman to miss bc, is their cycles are so unpredictable.

Awesome, so happy for them!

I had my daughter at 41 the traditional way LOL and she was born perfectly healthy. Good for the Travoltas, I hope they have a healthy baby too.

How very wonderful for them :cloud9:!! 47 is the new 37 ;) and I wish her a happy and healthy pregnancy! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
