Also, before I run back down the hall for a meeting and a rehearsal . . . I saw someone (sorry I can't remember who!) ask several pages back about when the top 3 found out. I hate when questions go unanswered, and even though Tripp posted his answer, I thought I'd respond too. I also found out late in the day on Monday, March 24th. As suspected, there was a lot of paper work to do and various deadlines to meet before they would confirm us as finalists. Hope that helps!

Thanks Justin (and Tripp) for the answer. So, it was really close to the listed "on or about day," which was Easter Sunday. Your news came when we expected it would: the first business day after the big voting deadline.

Okay, everyone...drum roll please...

Both biological parents signed over their rights before we went into the courtroom. It was sad and hard. Lots of tears from all of us. They both wanted so much to raise her, but really and truly, she would not have been safe with them. In addition, she's developmentally delayed in speech and physical tasks, and neither parent would have realized that and been able to get her the help she needed. We're not perfect parents by any stretch of the imagination, but she will be safe and we'll provide every opportunity for her to reach her full potential. Besides that, she's in our hearts and we love her so much. We are now free to start adoption proceedings which will hopefully be completed by sometime this summer. Had I known that the prayers and pixie dust from this group would have produced such immediate and astonishing results, I would have asked for them long ago! Thanks to you all for your prayers and good thoughts.

I'm sorry to bring out the family photos, but I just can't resist one more. She's almost our little girl now.

Oh, Suz. Congratulations! I'm sure it was an incredibly emotional experience for you all, but I am so happy that she will be with people who can really care for her and that you will have the chance to love her and raise her. Really, reading that story was a wonderful way to finish my day!

Just big hugs to you Meggin! I'm very disappointed that you didn't advance. You really proved yourself to me with all your fun and unique ways of spreading that pixie dust. The shame is...while you really were OUT there in PERSON trying to be true to the integrity of the contest (by spreading pixie dust randomly, toll booths, grocery store workers, etc...) others may have just been fortunate enough to have opera browser and stay cooped up in their house voting incessantly. That's why it's a shame, unfair, and
so disheartening. I'm just not sure how I feel about the whole thing....
I know you had fun and I'm certainly grateful that you did, but I think the sponsors REALLY missed to boat big time, over and over again, and from the very beginning.

wow, thank you both (and everyone else who's been so supportive) so very much for your kind words. i can't pretend that i'm not sad that i didn't make it any farther, and that i'm not disappointed that my grand dreams of making dreams come true for people on a large disney-scale won't be coming true in the next few months. still, i truly am grateful to find so much support from friends and family--both here and in my non-virtual life. i'm very happy to be part of the disboard family--thanks for having me!

Ok kids! It's time for a Quiz!

Very good class! You all answered correctly!

Seriously, got to the airport, and even though my flight to Dallas would have been okay, the flight to Orlando was cancelled cuz of the inspections. If I flew to Dallas tonight, I wouldn't get to Orlando until noon tomorrow.

So they booked me on a Continental Flight leaving here at 5:35am tomorrow, arriving in Orlando at 10:55am.

I just spent an hour on the phone with Travelocity, and they managed to get Disney to not charge me for the hotel tonight!

So in the long run, I'll only lose a few hours, but save some bucks.

And Bailey, my cat is so happy I'm home!

So there you go...what's been happening here?
