Hi gang..... so I'm certainly not posting this looking for sympathy, but most of you guys are an online extension of my friends and family at this point.... DH and I just got a call from his mother.... the lump she had removed in surgery the other day found to have cancer inside the lump. I guess the initial tests gave it the all clear, but they wanted to remove it before it started to calcify. After the surgery they did more tests and found part of it to be cancerous.... needless to say... all is not bright and sunny in the Lynch-Perry household this afternoon.

Oh! I'm so sorry to hear that, HMF!

Know that the DISgeeks family's thoughts and prayers are with you! :grouphug:

Oh my goodness HMF, I am so sorry to hear of this news. I wish I could wave my magic wand and magically turn back time to make it so there never was a lump. pixiedust: pixiedust:
I will be praying for your mother in law and sending you warm thoughts and :grouphug:

So, has anyone else noticed that the day they're announcing the winner in front of Cinderella Castle is the same day that Animal Kingdom is celebrating its 10th anniversary, April 22?

At 8:45am in front of the Tree of Life, there will be a rededication ceremony featuring Jane Goodall, Meg Crofton, and others.

So... any idea what time the CMO announcement will be? I'd hate to miss it while over at Animal Kingdom.

As of now we're all supposed to fly out on Monday late. Ugggh. I'm going to miss the CMO announcement. Hmmm, I wonder what the change fee is for one extra day???

Brady did email me about his article and he said his info came from a Disney press release. I was unable to find such a press release on the web, which means he likely received it via e-mails. I regularly receive WDW-related press releases from Disney, but didn't get anything about this. Disney does have many different email release lists, so the LA Times must be on one that I'm not.

Here's the actual press release...

i'm here, i'm here!!

i have SO MUCH to catch up on--i just got back from our old thread, so it will be a while before i can get through the 60 pages!! yikes!! i just wanted to let you all know that i love you and i've missed you and i haven't thrown myself off of the tower of terror in despair....yet....

love,
meggin

You are welcome to ride ToT with me and my two older kids though. Wife hates ToT and I love it.

Congratulations to Tripp, Justin and David H. You're going to have a lot of fun going to WDW and being given the VIP treatment. I do have some advice based on my experience with last year's Dream Job Contest.

You will be followed everywhere by a camera crew. There will most likely be a cameraman, a sound man with a boom, and a director. They will tape hours and hours of you doing stuff (both onstage and backstage). Do NOT make the mistake of thinking you will get to see more than a few minutes of what they tape. Have someone else on hand to record the event for you as well (obviously, they won't be able to tape backstage though).

My one regret from last year is that I figured since Disney was taping everything, there was no real need for my family to tape much. Unfortunately, all we got to see was the one minute video they posted on YouTube. Somewhere at Disney are hours and hours of footage of all the Dream Job 2007 winners, that we will never get to see. [Including a lights on tour of the Haunted Mansion -- which I never expected them to release anyway]. *sigh*

1 min of video certainly was a let down to all of us knowing that they had hours of great footage. I'm certainly glad that I had family and friends video taping and snapping photos. David "Darkbeer" Michael was awesome in taking hundreds of shots of me in costume.

Also, you can hire photopass guys to follow you around snapping photos.

Anything else just ring!

I'll try to be there with my video camera for as much of it as possible, without getting in the way or being annoying about it. ;) I definitely agree that each of you should have your families or friends take lots of pictures and video of you, as you'll want to relive the experience later.

I really wish Disney would send us some of the video they took of us last year. There's got to be so much great footage that we've never seen. In fact, so much of it will probably never be watched again... just archived and forgotten about.

Got 3 things for you in this post.
1. A little plan for the CMO3
2. Who is "Josh?"
3. How did Brady know?

1. I'm happy to announce that all the CMO3 along with Meggin and Ricky are joining us at Beaches and Cream on Sat 19th for a "Sink-off." My family and I are treating everyone to the Kitchen Sink(s). It will be a great Meet and Greet time!

2. Josh is a guy who evidently was trying to pull the wool over Brady's eyes. Brady contacted me about him and decided not to run a story based on the guys "facts." Wise decision! The guy wouldn't call Brady or anything, just cryptic emails. He told Brady the finalists were 2 guys and 1 girl and that the ceremony would be part of the AK Rededication. Came to find out it was a guy who had been sending me cryptic emails for a couple of months saying he was with CB. Strangely, he was about 80-90% right then too. Looks like someone who enjoys playing pranks? I haven't heard back from the other assumed name of "Travis" in several days now.

3. Everyone thinks of Brady as a blogger. If you read on the net he is actually an Staff Writer/Deputy Web Editor for the LA Times. This is from his bio...
"I got an annual passport to Disneyland a decade ago when I was covering Anaheim as a beat reporter. As a graphics reporter, I visited California Adventure a dozen times in advance of the second park’s debut. And now, as a deputy web editor, I’ve decided to blog about my interests in Disneyland and theme parks. I’m neither an expert nor a critic, but rather a fun-obsessed fan with a point of view and a father of a mouse-addicted daughter. Mostly I keep going back to Disneyland because of my fascination with Walt’s limitless imagination and daring to dream big. In the course of my reporting, I plan to cover news, trends, issues and changes at Disneyland and the major Southern California amusement parks that would be of interest to the casual vacationer as well as the diehard fan."

Brady knows people in Disney PR and often gets behind the scenes tours of new attractions before they even open. That explains why he was first to receive and post the information. I met him through mouseplanet.com and we've become friends through that. He owes me an In N Out Burger too!

That just makes me so sad for you FTC! That footage is priceless and I hope you get to see/have it someday! You ought to! Oh if only Mr. Autopia's car was a time machine! Great advice for the others though--so kind of you!

My, my you all have been so busy since Friday afternoon! I got lost for a while. I love the new clubhouse!
I have some news, as I said on Friday that I want to share with you all.
But first: Congrats to Justin, Tripp and David!!!!:cheer2:
I am so happy for the 3 of you!!!
My appologies to anyone who thought my post on Friday was cruel. I think Justin thought it was cruel. My sincerest appologies!
Thanks for the reminder KTP to change my car insurance company!
No SWWake I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express.
No, I am not Pregnant.
No, my news is not CMO related. I figured when I hadn't heard last Monday that I had to be out of the running.:sad2: But I never gave up hope. That's why I never said anything either way. And I finally received an email from Brady last night, which I didn't open until 8:45 this morning.

I would like to say thank you to all of the friends out there that supported me. Thank you for all of your valuable time and votes. I am feeling the love:hippie: Although disappointed that I did not make it into the Top 3 for the dream job, I had a lot of fun! I made a ton of new friends. I spent some quality time with my family making the video and campainging with family and friends! And, here is the Kismet moment: I may have found a publisher for my book from all of the publicity and word of mouth from the CMO campaign!
So thank you to Disney Destinations and Careerbuilder.com for the opportunity:yay:
I have some serious catching up to do. Y'all have 60 some pages since Friday! Whew! Where will I find the time?
So much love to you all. Keep spreding the Magic, because there is a little Fairy Godmother in all of us!:wizard:
Most sincerely,
Amy Kate Connolly

Everyone sing.....
In-N-Out
In-N-Out
that's what a hamburger is all about.

Mmmm...how I miss those. You need to get whatever current t-shirt they have too.

Congratulations on the book deal! I honestly thought you were going to be a CMO3.

I'll contact you next time we come out to Disneyland and hopefully we can all get together.

This post is just for Ann and me, and our "who's steering the ship" refrain. (if it's a pirate, it sure isn't ktp)

So, have you noticed, dear Ann, that when one clicks on one of the thumbnails for a top 3'er on the dreamcmo.com, it still goes to the same page for that contestant that includes all 10 of the top 10 at the bottom? And no special indication that the top 3'er is indeed a top 3'er!

Um, really? Really? I've only had my own webpage since Feb 22, 2008, and I updated mine earlier this morning. Hmmm. Confidence in sponsors keeps going down, and down, and....

From the other subtle person on the thread,
Cat

I will be meeting the Andimator next week at the LAND!
I can't wait. I am such a big fan!

G'mornin Mrs. Fleagle!!

Woo Hoo -- a new stove!!

I am still waiting for my new transmission to be installed in our 2003 Honda Odyssey with only 60,000 miles on it. I am severely in need of an arm and leg now. :)
