lol I really wanted something flavored but I couldn't find those! I like milk better too though in plain coffee!

Monday, January 11, 2010 - Final day!
Monday morning we woke up and guess what? I was SICK! Not just sinusy sick...I had a full blown cold complete with fever. I actually think I had a sinus infection. Miserable! I was bound and determined to make the most of it, though so I got up and we got ready for the Magic Kingdom! Kim wanted to meet Mickey and Minnie!
We checked out first and gave our bags to baggage claim so it would be easier on us when we got back to the hotel to leave!
A really cool golf cart outside of Pop!
Kim was freezing! We got to MK in enough time for rope drop!
I know I don't look sick but I felt horrible!
Opening MK!
We stopped first at Main Street Bakery cause I wanted to try a cinnamon roll!
These guys serenaded us while we were waiting in line!
The roll was good but I like the middle and I got a corner! OH well!
While we were waiting on Toon Town to open, we hit up a few Fantasyland rides like Pooh...
We also rode Snow White!
Finally, it was time for Toon Town opening!
We went straight for the Judges Tent to meet Mickey! Everyone else was in a hurry to get in line to meet Tinkerbell!

We went to Minnie's house, too!
Our flight time out of Orlando was for 3 p.m. That meant of course our ME time was noon. Well, Kim wanted to see the stageshow as our last thing to do before we left. So we waited for the stage show for a while and they kept announcing it had been delayed. I told her we would have to go if they delayed it too much longer but thankfully, they started it!
After it was over, we said one last goodbye to the Magic Kingdom and went to our bus stop to wait. Of course, we waited about 30 minutes for a bus. I guess they aren't as busy picking people up that early in the morning as they are bringing people to the parks. I was worried though that we would miss our ME bus!
Bye Pop!
Our ME bus got there and it was kinda full. There was a group of people who had to wait for the next bus because there was no room! Ugh! They had the same ME time that we did, too! They were not happy campers!
So we made it to the airport in one piece. We checked in and everything just fine. It was lunch time by this point so we decided to go get some food in the food court. Also, I had started feeling REALLY bad and could tell I was running fever so I was tired and grouchy! I noticed it was about an hour before our plane was set to depart so I thought it would be good to get in the security line.
OH MY GOSH that line was the worst I've ever seen it! It was awful. We moved maybe 10 steps in 20 minutes. That's when the dreaded thought hit me...we are going to miss our plane. So I started praying...hard. I knew there was no way we'd be through that line in time. They opened a side lane that was meant for strollers and a very nice couple let us go under the rope and get in front of them. Probably very illegal but I was desperate!
We got to the belt and were putting our stuff on there as fast as possible! My stuff went through fine but kim's didn't. They kept having to go back and re run it and open everything. It took forever! Finally they found a tiny bottle of mouthwash..that's what was setting off the alarm! So we grabbed all our stuff and took off running for our terminal.
We got there and were told our terminal was changed. UGH! Thankfully it was just across the hallway! So we get there and it's 1 minute before the plane was set to leave. The lady at the desk was INCREDIBLY rude! She got on her phone (Talking to the stewardess inside the plane) and said, "I have them right here...just GO! LEAVE!" We weren't mad or upset we just wanted to get home. So when she asked where we had been, we told her Security. She was like, "Oh come on ladies, security isn't that bad." I was floored this woman was arguing with me! I gues she's used to working with rude people when they've missed their planes so she was automatically rude to us from the start. A lady next to us took up for us and said that security was pretty bad today. Thanks! The Southwest lady started spouting off all these areas she could re-route us to...she mentioned Birmingham. At the time, I had no idea where Birmingham was...that's how shaken up I was ! LOL

I stopped her mid-sentence and asked if there was another direct flight to New Orleans out that night. I was not all about flying all over the country just to get back to NOLA. She relaxed for some reason after that and looked for us. It wasn't full and it left in 4 hours. She told me to come back in about 2 hours to talk to her to get tickets printed. So we sat down and read/slept/made friends with the other people waiting! Lol I saw a disbride friend on her way out! I also text Laura and she offered to come get us to let us sleep at her house which was super nice of her! I wasn't about to brave that dang security line again, though! LOL
Us mad cause we missed our plane! Hehe!

So we finally got on our plane. I was so worried about our luggage in NOLA cause I live 3 hours away and we both had to work the next day!! Yikes!
We made it to NOLA though and the little Southwest booth was still open! Thank goodness! We got our luggage, got to our car, and made our way home. That was probably the worst drive ever. Kim wouldn't drive (I still don't know why) and I was sick, exhausted, running fever, and trying to keep myself awake. I had to stop a couple of times to get out cause my eyes kept wanting to close. SO scary! Now that I look back on it, I should have made Kim drive. Oh well. I made it home and I was able to sleep in a little the next day because our Dr. was out of town at a meeting so that helped a LOT! I didn't miss any other days of work that week thank goodness!
I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I'm not sure the exact reason as to why we missed our plane but I know there's a reason! lol

Karen - Another great report, thanks for sharing! Your friend looked like she had a great first visit! I can't believe our trip was almost a month ago...you know how you get back from vacation and you are deluged with stuff at work. I am just finally digging out. I haven't even downloaded my pictures yet! It was great, much different temperatures than what you had..it was the hottest we have ever experienced in WDW. Space shuttle launch was AWESOME! (see I use that word all the time still too

Hey Karen -just got all caught up. What a fabulous trip. Except for the disaster at the airport on the way home. Geesh....who would have thought lining up at security 1 hour before flight time would not get you through in time!
So sorry that had to happen to you. If there was a reason for it as you suggest, not sure what it could be!
Sounds like you had a great time with Kim and all the Disbrides. And kudos on the race. Can't believe you are also doing the Wine & Dine Half and the Full next year! You are becoming a Disney Endurance series junkie!
Seriously it is very inspiring...I have done the Minnie5K and the EEC, but I want to get back into running and do a Half myself. I am leaning towards doing the Wine & Dine in 2011...will be very interested to hear your thought on it.
