The Tiki Room: Under New Management!

Wow, seriously the best show in the Magic Kingdom! I hadn't experienced this since I was about 10, so my parents and myself decided to try it this trip.

I haven't laughed so hard in a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time. It wasn't just the show itself, but the people watching it with us. Little kids were dancing, people clapping along having a fun and joking time. We even had this little kid start BREAK DANCING towards the end. I can't even express just how funny it was, you had to be there.

The best though was at the end when the cast member came back in the room and did the "everyone up" hand motion. Everyone thought he mean't get up and dance ...... after about a minute the cast member is just looking around and probally saying to himself "I mean't the shows over"!!!!!!

It took everyone a few minutes to realize it was indeed over and then we exited the theater laughing with everyone wondering what the heck just went on!

glad to hear positive comments about the tiki room. we really like it, and i was afraid of getting bashed. but now i have comrades who also enjoy it. and this thread is still untainted by those that cant stand it. how much longer though????

I like both Tiki Room versions. I would call the original more charming, but the current one is definatly funnier. Gotta laugh in a show where Zazu sings Gloria Estefan songs in his stodgy Brittish accent.

Is this attraction air conditioned? In August heat I'll try anything that's air conditioned!

Hey, we loved it too. It was not on my "must-see" list when we went for the 1st time in May based on no-one giving it glowing recommendations but the line was short so we tried it and we relly enjoyed it! There was just so much going on all the time, so much to look at.
BTW, there was a 40-minute stand-by wait for the Aladdin Carpet Ride...what a waste. I would have rather seen the Tiki Room 2 times!!!

I love the Original Tiki Room & like the new one. I try & see it every trip. DS doesn't love it so much tho. He liked the original better.

FWIW - Did you see the great Tiki Room merchandise in the last Disney catalog? There was a LE watch I'm just dying to get.

We love the Tiki Room now, but when my kids were younger, they were scared and Ive seen scared kids since them. The Polynesian goddess and the thunder were a little intense for them. Its fun now though!

I'm so glad you all are saying good things about the Tiki Room...

I saw the original at DL in 2001 (my one and only Disney trip so far) and I LOVED it!!! I have been talking about it ever since!

Told my DH2B about it, and how we definitely had to see it on our upcoming Disneymoon...then I heard it changed and I heard it wasn't as good. I was pretty disappointed.

Now, I'm kinda looking forward to it again!

The Pre- show is even GOOD! We loved the original, love the update! Love when Iago says "everyone on your feet" my sis and I are regular's so we immediately stand then he says turn to your left and march everyone looks at us like we are crazy until the doors open It is such a party. I love watching people who are what is this all about, is this a waste and when the show starts its mesmerising. For years, it was always empty. Few people came in, and really missed an impressive work of art. With walt's own magic added in.

Oh my word!! Break dancing?? I'm afraid I would've spewed water from my trusty Brita bottle, I'd be laughing so hard, if I'd have seen that!

I like the Tiki Room, too, but dh LOVES LOVES LOVES it! He never saw the original, though...but we do have the music to the original. I think what I hate most about the new version is that I can't sing along to the entire Tiki Birds Song. LOL

I also love the new Tiki Room. I liked the old but it was getting old and needed to be updated. They did a good job on this one, thank goodness it didn't turn out like the remodeled Imagination.
Make sure you hang out at the end of the show to hear what Iago says to the people leaving. Some of his comments are really funny. The CM will let you stand by the door as the others are leaving so you can hear him, they don't chase you out till the speal is over. It is so funny. Peggie
