The Third Time's a Charm! Our 2012 spring break trip report. We found Perry!

Great report. Your thoughts on your last night at the dessert party brought tears to my eyes...I've had several Disney moments like that, and I cherish them, too! And, so glad you decided to do Epcot so you could keep your siggie pictures going...it's the little things like that that make the best memories. :thumbsup2

Thank you for reading! And I'm really thankful that we went to Epcot for that picture, too :thumbsup2 As usual, we took about 12 pictures, and the first one is the one that we kept :rotfl:

Thanks for sharing your trip report - and your beautiful family - with us! Both my DS19 and DD3 have Autism Spectrum Disorders, and DD3 is also a former 1 lb 2 oz preemie with mild cerebral palsy. We've found the GAC to be extremely helpful, and the only way we make it through a trip to WDW. Of course, we don't use it if we don't need it, but DS19 had so many issues with noises, smells, heat, standing too close to people in line, being accidentally bumped, etc, any of which would trigger a series of meltdowns if we didn't have the GAC to help make things "doable." Plus, DD3 needs the option of stroller-as-wheelchair due to her cp/motor skills, and the fact that her supplies for her g-tube feedings are kept in the stroller.

Glad that you guys had such a great trip, despite the crowds. Thanks again for sharing!

Thanks so much for reading! Us ASD parents have to stick together! It really is impossible to understand unless you live with it... I'm glad the GAC helps you guys - I know we could have really used it on our first trip (we struggled the whole time) - but I just didn't realize what a help that would be.

This trip report is one of the best I've read :thumbsup2 You have a beautiful family; and Perry being a part of your trip memories is classic! It seems like you had both a relaxed and accomplished trip. This is what I am hoping for with our next Disney trip. I am impressed that you were able to write a trip report with many great details and photos all within only a few pages. You've inspired me to write a TR for our next WDW trip :) I also want to add that your final/last thoughts are very insightful.

Awww! Thank you so much for reading it! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I really wanted to make sure it was enough pictures and details to show what we did during our vacation, but short enough that it would be a fun read. I hope you will write a trip report for your next vacation - I'd love to read it!

Just wanted to say I really enjoyed reading your report. Your children are beautiful and they look like a lot of fun. Your report showed you can do Disney at a relaxed pace and I enjoy reading those because that is the way we try to tour wherever we go. We rush around so much at home it is nice to go slower.

Side note: love your son’s spiked hair in the AM :rotfl:

Awww, Thanks for reading it! I'm glad you enjoyed it! We really did have a blast, and it was nice to finally feel like, "Ah well, if we miss it we'll be back". It made it easier to enjoy what we were doing. (Plus, riding all of our must dos at ropedrop helped, too :thumbsup2 ).

Ah, his hair! :scared1: it has been standing up like that since he was a baby

You have such a precious family -- love the pics in your sig line.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us!

Great report, very well written. I have just 2 criteria to determine whether to read a trip report. One, it's got to be a family with little kids (since I like to see how other parents do Disney to possibly pick up some ideas) and Two, the kids have to be cute. ;) You delivered on both with your TR. You have adorable children. I particularly like the laid back approach on your trip (something I will try, but likely not succeed at doing, on our next trip in August).

One question - can you elaborate a little about the GAC? As in what are the eligibility requirements, how do you actually get one, and what does it entitle you to?

What a great trip report! I can only hope our trip (in 2 1/2 weeks) can be as relaxed AND full as yours! This is our first family trip (DH and I have each been separately, but not in a millions years) and DD (4 1/2) is so excited. And my mom is coming, too, which will be nice. I've been trying to tell myself that there's no way we're going to see/do everything, and your trip report really makes me realize that it's totally fine that way! Take it slow, do the important things, and MAKE MEMORIES. :-) Thank you for the time you took to write it all up, it's really appreciated!

Adorable kiddos, too! :-)

I really enjoyed reading your trip report! My kiddos don't like the loud/fast/scary stuff either. On our past trips, DH and I have taken turns riding some of those things, but we've been talking about a return trip and only doing what we can all do and enjoy. I think that will make for a more relaxing trip, and after reading your tr, I'm really looking forward to that! Thanks for sharing! :goodvibes

Oh, and I love your matching shirts! Too cute!

Awww, Thank you very much! It took us until our third family trip to really be able to relax and enjoy it. Now when we're in the parks, we do what we can do, and if we miss something, we'll hit it next time. We really had a great time.

About the GAC, you can read all about it on the Disabilities board. There is a sticky thread there that explains what it is and why you might need it. You get it at Guest Services (each park has one), but it is good for your entire stay. For us, we found we didn't need it.

Thanks for reading my report!

Thank you for reading it! I'm glad you enjoyed it! You are going to have a blast with your daughter - she is a great age! My parents joined us for part of our first two trips, and those pictures and memories of the kids riding with their grandparents are something we all treasure!

Thank you for reading it! We were surprised by their new fears. On our last trip, the kids rode and loved everything we tried (except Space Mountain, which scared them). On this trip, they seemed worried about every ride. I think it is just a developmental stage - that they understand so much more about life and the world, so they have a greater capacity for fear?

It's fine for us. I love that Disney has so many attractions that are not thrill rides. We'll save Universal for when the kids are teenagers (and probably braver, LOL).

I think you're right about the developmental stages - mine liked things the first time we went that they didn't like the second time, too. We've got a toddler now, so for this trip skipping the scary stuff just makes sense.
DS11 is a big Harry Potter fan (who am I kidding, so are DH and I) so we're thinking of spending one day at universal just to see the Wizarding World. Even though we won't be riding anything. :rotfl: I still think it will be worth it! It's all about expectations, isn't it? As long we're expecting not to ride the thrill rides, we'll be able to enjoy everything else. :thumbsup2

great trip report!!!! i like the perry in the pictures!!! :thumbsup2
