Right here goes, call me daft but I don't really "do" shorts, and what I would call "theme park" attire.....I'm not knocking it, I wish I could, it's just that too much Trinny and Susannah has taught me that I look awful in shorts and regular t-shirts....I'm also a bit pale and freckly (but very interesting!) so sometimes have to cover up a bit.
Am I going to look draft in my knee length modern (mostly a-line) patterned skirts and the rest of my smart/cas wardrobe? I promise I'm not one of those flappy type Mums that doesn't do big rides and stuff, I love WDW and really want to enjoy my first trip with my girls. I worry I'm going to look over dressed.....c'mon tell me, are my cropped linens gonna be too much...?
:confused3

Anything goes... most important thing is that you are comfortable. No matter what you wear, I am sure that you will see loads of people much more bizzarely dressed than you.

If you get there and decide that you really aren't comfortable in your attire, you could always buy something new in Orlando...

Don't worry, have fun :)

I never wear shorts in the UK but as soon as we get to our hotel room in Disney I can't wait to get into shorts and t-shirt. Honestly no-one takes any notice. Everyones having such a fantastic time that they don't worry about what people are wearing. Whatever you decide the most important thing is that you're comfortable and you enjoy yourself :thumbsup2

I don't do casual very well, either, but it was several trips before I realised it was OK not to wear "park attire". Since I've been wearing what I'm happy in, I've felt much more comfortable and less conscious of what I'm wearing. I tend to wear cropped trousers and various kinds of top. I occasionally wear a sundress or a skirt to parks. I wear flip-flops rather than trainers. I never wear short shorts and seldom wear a regular t-shirt (occasionally I'll buy one, wear it once, and then decide it's not me). I'm not happy unless my outfit is co-ordinated, but I never feel that I look out of place and I certainly don't look as though I'm dressed-up. I would say the stuff I wear is semi-casual and summery. I wouldn't, for example, wear the kind of cropped trousers which are popular for the office at the moment.

Oh, and I always end up buying at least one outfit whilst I'm there that I think looks fine at the time and then when I get home and see the photos, I wonder what on earth I was thinking! I bought a couple of particularly cringe-worthy dresses last trip!

I think the beauty of WDW is that 'anything goes'. I am overweight and do not wear shorts in the UK, but as soon as I hit the hotel room, on they go. I too look at pictures and cringe sometimes, but as long as you are comfortable when walking along then I say, wear it!

If you are comfortable wearing a skirt, then wear it as anything goes in disney:banana:

No one will bat an eye trust me ;)we've seen lots of people wearing the outfits they feel comfortable in and we all want comfort when we're on holiday:thumbsup2
Maybe get a couple of "cargo" style skirts and some less formal blouses if your really worried or a couple of polo shirt type tops, sensitive skin can burn easily so keep those shoulders covered (just remember to use high factor sunscreen on any exposed areas) a hat or two may be handy to keep the sun off your head;)

Oooh can we see the photos!! ;)
OK, well don't say I didn't warn you!

Here we are just before setting off to Animal Kingdom for the day. We didn't want to dress up too much bearing in mind we knew we'd get wet on Kali River Rapids. :rotfl:

Seriously, check out this monstrosity. I'm the frumpy blue blob in the middle of the photo.

How about Skort's? I've got a couple now (golfing ones) they're great as your thihs don't get all hot and rub so you have the convenience of shorts (also no-one sees your knickers if you bend down :rotfl2: ) but they look just like a skirt so are smarter!

Deb we had better not bump into one another in WDW I would look so scruffy in my park attire compared to you! :rotfl:

Deb you don't look frumpy!! You should see what I look like on holiday! :lmao:

I think the suggestion of golf skorts is a great idea. I've got a few (for golf), they are really comfortable and preserve your modesty.

Check out the Izod Golf shop in Premium Outlets for a great range of colours and styles not just of skorts but casual trousers, tops and knitwear too (all co-ordinating). Great prices and excellent quality.

I think we all wear things on holiday that we wouldn't wear at home... I had a shoe experience when I went with my 15 year old neice... I though she was going to disown me... but hey I wanted to be comfortable. Some nice 3/4 trousers are a great idea, and I've worn skirts in the parks too. Really you can wear whatever you want.. people are there from all over the world which means all sorts of fashion statements! Lol... just be comfortable!

As long as you don't go for 'the entire family in matching t-shirts' option...

... I have seen one family, at least 3 generations of them, in matching orange / red / green t-shirts - usually with some kind of family name / trip details....

not a good look IMHO ..... :scared1:

As everyone else has said anything goes but I know how you feel. I don't like shorts and always wear skirts (quite a lot are A lined and patterned :thumbsup2 ) as it is what I am comfortable in. Strappy sundresses are a favourite too

You wont feel out of place as when you see all varieties of attire you will wonder why you ever worried.

My family always laugh at my choice in footwear as I dont do trainers and I cant walk very far in flat shoes (being vertically challenged I have spent all my adult life in heels) I zoom round Disney in wedge sandals.

I have seen americans and mexicans with jeans and a jumper on in a 90 degree heat- it seams anything gos!!!

The only thing I have become aware of is if you wear a t shirt with some sort of print on expect a lot of stares- Americans seem to like reading them and beliveing them- E.G I wore a blue T shirt a few years ago with ITALIA written on it- Everyone thought i was italian! (it was george from ASDA!)the same happened with a Brizail T shirt- (Im very white with mousey hair dont look italian and really dont look Brizalian!)

Other than that wear what you want- even at night no one cares !

If it's hot I tend to wear a little sundress. Just wear what you find most comfortable. But don't wear stillettos (and yes I have seen them there) - that does look silly and would cause you great discomfort from all the walking.

I don't even own any shorts, and I don't plan on wearing them at WDW ether. I plan on wearing skirts with vest tops, which is what I usually wear in summer.

i was so shocked when i saw a woman in mgm studios carrying a very small baby with a pair of stillettos on i was nursing lots of blisters from wearing flip flops and trainers would loved to have sen the state of her feet at the end of the day:confused3
