The technicalities of exiting

When you have the ceremony at an outdoor location (I'm thinking Sea Breeze Point) how do you stage the exit? The ceremony ends, you walk back down the isle to the recessional music and then what? Can you do a staged exit with rose petals? Where do you wait while everyone files outside? The pictures always seem to be with every one standing up outside while the bride and groom walk and everyone throws petals but I'm not sure how you would get this to work...

I know I'm not explaining this very well, and please excuse me if this isn't very clear...

At our wedding last week at SBP the guests stayed inside the gazebo & threw the petals as we walked back down the aisle.
