The Tale of the Grow Walk ….Hunh?

That sounds like quite the ordeal. All in all though it seems like Dollar worked out ok - just didn't have a great selection of cars and you seem to have not chosen the best of what they had.

I totally recall having the same thing our last trip where I couldn't get a signal to do GPS via my phone and had to pull out of the garages and stop so I could get it set up. They should have like a "pull off" area outside of the garages for people

That is so annoying about the people at Hertz ... like you would just make up the discount? And not even sure why it would come up then as you already made the reservation so that seems kinda weird. In any event they didn't need to be so rude about it

Glad you were able to calm down a bit - gotta love the lobby smell of Disney hotels ... really makes you feel like you are on vacation!

Can't wait to hear all about it! :)

Going back to read!

Great room pictures. It looks similar to our room at POR but we had the murphy bed, so it seems like ours might have been a little bigger. It could just be that because everything in our room was set up on opposite walls than your room, so it looks different to me. :) Love the alligator pictures, too. :)

Oh my goodness! What a hassle with the car. That is maddening.

I just LOVE POFQ; I need to branch out and stay at other places but I just love it there.

Was this the night that Ellen and I met you, the night that I looked like death warmed up?? :rotfl: :lmao:

Oh my goodness that sounds like a terribly frustrating experience with Hertz. I don't blame you guys for never wanting to rent with them again!

Wow - the whole rental car thing sounds so frustrating! I really can't stand being overcharged for a car. Too bad your SIL couldn't (or wouldn't) get the charge adjusted. Grrrrrr!

Sorry your car stunk. I think Denny and I had that same car in February and it WAS pretty bad. More like a toy then a car, but it got really good gas mileage. Of course, it had like a 10 gallon tank which didn't help.

Love the POFQ room. It's really lovely. And you got some really lovely pictures of the room and the resort!

Skip didn't believe you? Your SIL said she never told you that? Then how the heck did you get the code? Something not right in the whole scenario.

Nice room pictures. I don't think I realize how dark the rooms are at POFQ.

Lunch looks yummy...despite the meal being a little short on the chicken.

Love your pictures as you walked to the pool.

Skip never listens to me pretty much.....now how would I even have that code if she didn't give it to me....but that wasn't processing in his or his mothers head. SIL told me thats all I needed, even when her mom will keep saying she has to go it, SIL told me in the past that was not true....so I am not sure ever was even called. MIL tends to be stubborn about these things....I wonder where Skip gets it? :lmao:

The rooms are kind of dark. But I like them too

it was such an ordeal. They really should have a pull off area....that would be great, because once you pull out you are going with nothing to stop at at all! Not even a gas station.

And you are right....if I didn't have a family or friend working there, how the heck would I even know the code to begin with.

Can't wait to hear all about it! :)

HI!!!! :cool1:

I have yet to get over to POR. It's on my bucket list for sure!

Wow. Just wow. What a PITA with the car rental! How RUDE! Obviously you got the code from your SIL. I'm guessing "Skip" is not your husband's given name and maybe nicknames are common in the family. Why would you need to know anything else? I hate when you do something over and over and then something changes and it doesn't work that way anymore. I would have needed a long break and a large beer to cool down too!

I'm glad you all made it to the resort finally and could get some food.
Your room looks nice! Love all the special disney touches!

I hope the rest of your trip is better! I'll have to remember to wear a magic band on my same wrist as my watch. That's what I do with bracelets too. Never on my right wrist. A) I can't put them on left handed unless it's a bangle and B) it interferes when I use the mouse for my desktop at work.

Wow, I can't believe what you all went through with Hertz :scared: That is just horrible!! I've never rented from them before and never really had any intention of ever renting with them but after reading this, it's 100% I never will :(

Because we always add a cruise on to our trip, we rent from either Avis (which I wasn't thrilled about but they often had the best prices) or more regularly, from Budget and while it's not fabulous, we've never had any serious issues with them.

I will be glad once they open that new location, right at the port ::yes::

And ACK for the leaking luggage :scared: That really sucks!

Hope the rest of the trip is a little more smooth for you guys! :thumbsup2

It was. I was really stressed that day...and yes that is the day we met up...I didn't look very good either...which is why I did not suggest we take a picture. :rotfl2:
I loved it there too. I wish I could've stayed all week.

Oh my goodness that sounds like a terribly frustrating experience with Hertz. I don't blame you guys for never wanting to rent with them again!

Yes, it was very frustrating indeed!

It was so high for just a week. If Mom wouldn't have insisted on Hertz, I would've gotten her one from Dollar for about 140 for the week. I even told her a couple times that I did not rent from Hertz myself, but she swears I didn't. :rotfl:

That Versa just had no power. It wasn't an ugly car or anything, but it putted along. Especially when the air was on. Skip laughed when he would see me turn off the air to take off from a stop light. It reminded me of my highschool days when I drove a VW rabbit diesel stick shift. If you took off with the air on....you stalled almost every time. :rotfl2: It really sucked doing city driving on a hot day.

I did like the rooms there and I am so happy to have had a chance to stay there now and I hope to go back again.

I know...how else would I have the code if it wasn't a family member? I guess they think I stole it somewhere. :rotfl2:
The beer did make things better! pixiedust:

The trip did get better...but our week was PACKED! We made the best of it and tried some new things too. So even though we couldn't do all our favorites, or do them over and over...we did try many new things that were interesting.

Wow, I can't believe what you all went through with Hertz :scared: That is just horrible!! I've never rented from them before and never really had any intention of ever renting with them but after reading this, it's 100% I never will :(

I think I have rented from Budget in the past too and they were fine. It just seems like anymore, Dollar is coming up much cheaper than other places, especially for an extended time. I renting from then again in Aug. because a 1 day rental with any of the car places on property came out to be more than just getting the car for the whole time I am there from Dollar at MCO.
I don't need it big or fancy....it just needs to run and carry my luggage....and I have to NOT over pack for this 3 night trip. :rotfl:

I think this might have been one of the roughest trips I have had in a while, but it was still fun. I had more stress issues with crowds, parents (though they weren't too bad), and of course a husband. :rotfl2: He had the nerve to have his own ideas!!!! :snooty:

When Claire saw this guy she thought he was pretty creepy.

We looked for a spot for me to sit and settle down where I could still see her.

She wanted to go on the slide, but there are not any loungers near the slide.

We ended up off to the side a bit and we put her towel on the bench, but I was instructed to stand near the pool for now and watch her get in…..you know because I guess she looks different every time she gets in a pool??? LOL

As she got used to the water, I walked around a bit and took a few pictures.

Finally she was ready for the slide.

And I had been instructed to take pictures of her going down it.

But I didn’t capture the perfect plunge shot and I was told to keep doing so till I got a good one. LOL.

I think this one works!

Sorry...those "joker" type guys kind of freak me out as well (part of the reason we've not stayed at POFQ).

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Claire giving you instructions to wait until she gets in the pool and then take shots until you get the perfect one of her going down the slide. I love it!

Great photos around the pool area, Jen.

That Claire with the pictures! :lmao:

I don't love those figurines, either, but the rest of the resort is so great.

Sorry about the rental car issues, that stinks. Glad your check in at POFQ went smoothly.

Nice to see pics of the resort, I love that place, the rooms are nice, it helps that purple is my favorite color, though, LOL

I love those alligators by the pool they are cute and fun photo ops. The Jesters are kind of creepy, I agree.

Back in 1992 My sister fell in that fountain in the lobby- backed right into it taking a picture, I laugh remembering that whenever I see a pic of it :rotfl2:

Love the pics of the POFQ pool area. We've been to POR but not POFQ. Hoping to stay there one of these trips :)

We love POFQ (Stayed there a few times as a kid) but some of the decorations are a little creepy - the jester guys and the giant heads in the food court area. Though, I will not be upset if my daughter is a little scared of Mardi Gras and wants to stay away from it :rotfl:

They are bit creepy, but I think they are kind of cool too. I really like the room decor and how small the resort it soo.
Claire is really good at giving me orders. :rotfl2:

She's funny that way. She likes me to take swimming pictures for some odd reason.

The car issues were a disaster, but we got over it after a few days.
I love the way the rooms are decorated there.

Thats so funny!!

Thanks. I have yet to get over to POR yet.

Very true! :thumbsup2

Joining in. Glad you made it to Disney ok even if you did have trouble with the car rental.

Oh man, Skip didn't even try to make you feel better about the whole rental car mix-up? What's up with that? Doesn't he know that he is supposed to side with his wife no matter what? ;)

While we thought that the rooms at FQ was really pretty and the resort grounds are beautiful, it just looked too much like home. Guess that's because Louisiana is our home. I say that but we do not have trumpet playing alligators and jesters roaming around.:lmao:
