The Tale of the Grow Walk ….Hunh?

I noticed that they were starting to call numbers now. Gosh I can’t remember what we had…I am thinking 6 or 7 off the top of my head, but I know it wasn’t too far down the line so I kept peeking in to hear what was being called to board.

I believe this is where the concierge and platinum people wait.

I actually have waited in this area before…..back in 2011 when I did a tour of the Dream….this is where they had us wait for the bus back to WDW.

They were calling numbers fast. Basically every 30-60 seconds the next group was being called.

And before you knew it our group was called and we made our way to board. YIPPEE!!!!!!!

Mickey was walking right by and I quick tried to take a few paparazzi pictures.

I made us all stop for the boarding picture and Claire blinked in one and Skip had a creepy look in the other so I never bought either.

Now it was time to board!

Waiting our turn.

The Disney Magic would like to introduce the Jenseib family!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!

The first time I boarded the Magic I thought the atrium was so small…..this time I was used to it a bit and it didn’t seem so shockingly small. It did seem a little weird to see the second staircase missing, but not in a bad way.

Mickey had been moved and his new spot was nice.

The new light fixture.

I have a confession….I don’t think this is fabulous. It’s OK, but not a great fixture for the atrium and I liked the old one better.

Guest services.

We had a mission…..LUNCH!

We like buffets. I know it’s not for everyone, but Skip REALLY likes buffets, so we were heading towards Cabanas which was formerly known as Topsiders.

Great pics, Jen.

:yay::yay::yay: you are on board.

I don't recall paying attention to the pictures in the atrium before so wouldn't have known if a staircase was missing or if it was a new fixture (I have to say I do like this "new" fixture).

Absolutely nothing wrong with a buffet...especially if he food is yummy. We love Disney breakfast buffets, but not lunch or dinner. How is the food at Cabanas for the lunch buffet?

I so want to walk through those Mickey ears again. The last time we sailed out of Port Canaveral was in January 2011. Since then we had multiple cruises out of Los Angeles, two cruises out of Miami plus one each from Vancouver and Galveston. I was surprised how little the absence of one of the staircases bothered me, but I definitely agree with you about the light. I so miss the Chihuly chandelier.

Yeah, I love seeing those Mickey ears and walking through them. ;)

And I still find it a bit odd that the second staircase is missing. :lmao: Oh, and my favourite UGLY chandelier! :rotfl2:

OMG - and I have to admit that I think we did not eat one time (other than a quick breakfast) at Cabanas. We need to at least walk through and peek what's on offer in March.

You may go on posting now, the weekend has arrived and I am only two school days away from 14 days off school. :cheer2:

Yay! You are on the ship. It's funny, but the perspective that pictures give doesn't really help me judge the size of the atrium. I hope I am not disappointed when I board next December. I'm sure I won't be. I'm looking forward to checking out a new ship. :thumbsup2

Here's the old one.

It's not horrible, but just not as grand as I would think it should be....in my opinion not something that would be the main attraction of the atrium like the old one was.

And here is the Magic with both sets of stairs.

Skip loves the all you can eat factor....and tends to eat all he can. :rotfl2: I think they are pretty decent food wise. The boarding buffet is usually the best though.

It has been a while. At least you are cruising! it feels like it has been a long time since I've been on a Disney ship but in reality it's not even a year yet.
The Chihuly really was beautiful and stood out so much more in my opinion.

Yeah, I love seeing those Mickey ears and walking through them. ;)

:rotfl2: Yeah, I am just not a fan of it for that location. If it was somewhere else as a secondary fixture I probably would like it more.

We like buffets and Skip really hates to go to the dining rooms for some odd reason. I did inform him that we were going for dinner no matter what though and if he didn't want to then he would eat on his own. I think he ended up liking them on the Magic though.

Claire's last day was Friday and she is so happy! Of course she came down with a cough and cold right before the holidays and I am loading her up with cold meds now.

It is quite a bit smaller than the Dreams but once you get used to it it's not bad. The ship is smaller but I never really feel like it is smaller.

Hi Jen!

Been ever so long since I've been able to "be" here. And I just love that a lot of the same people are here still sharing the magic!

It's been great catching up on TR's and I'm here to read yours as well. I have Winter Break to read away and dream about my next vacation. :)

Yay! So glad you made it back. I hate when real life gets in the way of fun.

We were heading towards the back of the ship to get to Cabanas and cut through Shutters, which is where they display the photos taken throughout the cruise.

And up the elevator.

To Cabanas.

The style and décor of this Cabanas is different than on the Dream and Fantasy.

I found a table out back. I love this outside area. Sadly they did make it smaller after the refurbishment to make Cabanas bigger, but there was still room to sit out there with tables and it still is bigger than what the Dream has.

Cape Canaveral off in the distance.

Taking in the views.

I believe Skip and Claire went to fill their plates while I waited at the table.

Claire’s plate.

My turn to head up.

Always love reading people's Cruise TRs; that's about as close as I'll ever get to going on one- at least in the near future. My hubby as ZERO interest in going on one. But your photos are awesome and it looks like such fun!

The buffet looks so great! Crab and shrimp... YUM!!!

Well then you will need to plan a girlfriend trip to cruise. It took a lit of years for me to start going without my husband...it was a big no no but then I slowly started doing it and now he doesn't squawk quite as much. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Why yes. Yes, I do!!! :woohoo::lmao:

He knows I have that on my bucket list and I'd pretty much go with any number of friends I've made here. ;);)

I filled my plate and headed back to the table.

Time for dessert…..I LOVE those chocolate chip cookies!!!!!!!

They have really good ice-cream too.

After we were done we decided to do some exploring and show Skip around.

The new water splash area.

The new slide.

They also put in these cabana like shaded areas.

I spot a meet and greet.

Skip decided to park himself on a lounge chair but I wanted to explore some more. Claire decided to come with me.

Again, I am just not a big fan of the new light fixture.

We decided to get Claire checked into the kids clubs and take a look at the refurbishments there.

Claire was given a band that is very much like the Magic Bands at the parks.

This used to be the pirate themed area. It is now magically transformed into Andy’s bed.

Love seeing the pictures of the ship. After seeing th Dream first hand it is interesting to compare and contrast.

Your lunch looks lovely.

I hope Skip really enjoyed the cruise. So far he's into the relaxation part! :rolleyes1

Such lovely views all around! The lunch looks really yummy for sure! MEAT-FEEEEEEST!!!!!!!!!!

I think I'd just wanna plant my hiney on one of the lounge chairs under the cabana and camp there for DAYS!! Yowza!

Okay, even though I just ate lunch an hour ago, I'm drooling over your food porn.

Great pics of the ship and the pool area.

If I don't get back here, have a great holiday.

I did not have time for the DIS for 2 or 3 days and you fit in HOW MANY updates? :rotfl2:

All caught up again though! Great pics of the buffet, the outdoor areas and the children's area.
I did notice the new "tents" they had on the top deck for more shade. I really liked the shaded areas on the newer ships, so that was a nice addition. :thumbsup2

Merry Christmas, Jen and family!

The DReam is bigger, but I never felt like I was in a smaller ship on the Magic. Some things are very similar and some are different. Like on the Dream the adult clubs are at the back while on the Magic they are at the front of the ship. It's amazing how fast you learn your way around on the ships though. I still have 2 more ships to sail to see all the differences.
Skip did have a good time, but he said it wasn't something he would do every single year. I think he says that to annoy me though.

I love the lunch the day we board. They always have so many choices.
I just want to plant my hiney anywhere on the ship right now.

I haven't eaten yet, so they make me hungry too.

Have a wonderful holiday as well!

Now you said you were ready for updates. :lmao:

I'll skip today and tomorrow so you can have a break.
I am not a sun worshipper so I didn't mind the "tents" either.

You have a wonderful holiday as well!
