Morning one and all in the Tagliarchy. Been a busy week. Had a corporate volunteer recruiting fair to go to on Wednesday night, then another fair yesterday afternoon/evening at a local university. My face hurts from having to be cheery and SMILE so much!
My absolute fave person that came to our display table last night was an older student who, IMHO, was as crazy as a loon. She came swooping up to us, grinning ear to ear and said loudly, "City Harvest! And what are YOU doing here?" But she said it in such a nasty tone, with such venom, but with a wacked out smile on her face. Mind you, this was a career/internship fair -- we were there looking for candidates for full time positions as well as several intern spots. Now I ask, if you were a student, and you were at a career fair, would you approach a potential employer like that? I think not.
So what do I do? I ask loudly, "Let me turn that question back to you, 'What are YOU doing here?'" To which she literally took one step back, blinked and said, "Well, this is a school for creative arts, why is a CHARITY doing here?" (There were about 5 other charities in attendance as well.) And she says this even louder and with even more venom, and with an even BIGGER grin.
So I said with a HUGE grin, "We're looking for candidates for full time positions at this career fair but its apparent that you wouldn't be a great fit within our culture. As for why we're here, we were invited. Have a nice evening."
So she hands me her resume! ROFL!!!!
This city is filled with absolute crazy, crazy people. I need to move.
