The Sweet Meet - Dis'ers do Hershey

Todd -

I see our greatest challenge as getting to 83N. I will bring Frannie with me for alternate routes but the Baltimore beltway is probably our best shot - which also means higher risk for traffic:eek:

Things are looking good. So what is my best option for tickets on Saturday? We are going to drive in from DC on Saturday and stay all day.

Don,

We are headed to the parks on Friday Morning and purchasing a 2 Day Flex Ticket. I can purchase your tickets at that time if you want. Let me know and we can confirm it earlier that week.

Well I only need one day, its it cheaper to get a 2 day ticket on Friday? or cheaper to get them in advance?

Don,

Couple thoughts.

1) I would buy my tickets - 2 day and buy you 1 day tickets.

2) Look online for discount codes for August. I'm sure they will be release soon and then buy/print them directly from Hersheypark website.

3) Monitor Facebook (Hershey park) for discount offers. For July they had $15.00 off single day tickets. http://www.hersheypark.com/general/coupon/hot_july_savings.php

If August ones become available this might be the cheapest Method.

You might have a few days to see how it plays out.

I think the cheapest would be a one day ticket with a coupon ($8/off per person). The coupons are from Dunkin Donuts and Burger King (in this area) and I can send you a coupon if you want. Definatley keep a lookout on the Hersheypark facebook page because they do post some deals there. I think Jen may know if there are any other discounts that apply.

Currently code 5586 will get you $8.00 off each ticket.

Thanks guys, I'll wait it out and see if anything better comes along, but 8 bucks *5 for me is a decent discount.

Sidenote, my brother is being an a&$bag and complaining that he wanted a "low key" visit with my mother. Long story, he is driving me nuts so if he doesn't straighten out I'm not going....grrr....

Wow! I missed a lot in just a few days. All caught up now! So glad to see that plans are coming together, I haven't been to Hershey in YEARS!!! :woohoo: Looking forward to meeting everyone. See you all for dinner! popcorn::

I just looked at the coupon and it is good for up to 4 people - however, you can just split up and use two coupons, no big deal.

I hope you guys are able to make it, but I know how family can be :headache:

Just reading through getting caught up with everyones plans. I don't think I will make it but you never know last minute.

And then there is this route, which comes up as 6hrs32mins (from the MIM's HQ) which could include a meeting with certain people coming in from NE NY.
Just sayin'.

You might want to check PA's website but I think there is still serious construction going on 81. I don't known what they are doing on 81 but they have been busy for years.

Hey Don. I no longer need the (4) Jonas concert tickets and with those you can buy park tix for $33.95 (or so) each. They are yours if you want them.

You could even go to the concert with Andrea and her girls that night. :goodvibes

Maybe George, I'll see how it all turns out with my &#@bag brother.

John we'll have to come up with a spot to meet/stop at between Hartford and the CT/NY border. Maybe Scott, Pam, and Otto, will be interested as well? I'm guessing somewhere along Rt 84.

None of the planned routes will take us through NYC. Outskirts yes. I have no issue taking a slightly longer route to avoid traffic delays.

And bear in mind I'm a stickler for "keeping moving". If folks need to make multiple stops you might just have to meet us there. :rolleyes1

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: (Just ask Deb!) :rotfl2:

We are heading south from the Springfield area on 91 that morning, joining up with 84 at Hartford, that's why I said Hartford. Any ideas for a meet up spot? Will you be into breakfast or will you have had it by then? I am with you on the straight through thing, but I feel a bathroom break may be in the cards at some point. Deb? I know Kat will. I can hold it for hours.

With a three year old our progress may be something less than warp speed. We should exchange numbers and stay in touch as we drive. I was thinking of leaving here about 8am which will give us some time in Hershey to explore before dinner.

Hey Everyone! :wave2:

Is anyone staying at a hotel other than the Comfort Suites? I have been trying to suprise Jennifer and the kids with this trip but it appears I am too late to the game. The hotel is sold out and I missed all of the free ticket promotions. :( I guess I waited too long to book things but I have been trying to find a way to make this cross-country excursion work (3000 mile round trip). I have found a couple of hotels in the Harrisburg area that may work, but I would hate to be the only ones staying "off-site". Any ideas? :confused3

I noticed that also, we are going back and forth and checked the hotel and its full. Our second option would be to stay at Homewood Suites in Harrisburg. We stayed there a few years ago and loved it.

I am staying at the LaQuinta which is about 8 miles away - I needed to make this weekend a little more economical and I was able to get a room for $81 a night.

I think the best deal you may get is the $8/off per ticket either online or at the gate, unless Hersheypark offers a new disount from now until then. I don't see why you couldn't stay at a different hotel, and spend some time with everyone at the Comfort Suites.

As it now appears that the hotel is indeed sold out for that weekend, I think we are going to have to be smart in the timing of breakfast as we don't want to be stuck waiting for tables/food/wasting time before getting to the park on Saturday morning.

Also, I did notice that the pool area may not have enough furniture for everyone - and heaven forbid if other people are in the pool area!! I am thinking that everyone may want to bring chairs (we have those canvas fold up type lawn chairs)

This is going to be one BIG party!

Seriously Bill?????????????

I hope it works. Dodie and would love to see you and Jennifer before the cruise.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Bill glad to hear you and Jennifer are trying to make the trip. :thumbsup2 Too bad about Comfort Suites but what Don or Anne mentions sounds good.

Andrea great catch on the chairs. We have a bunch of bag chairs we will bring to share.

What is a good time to meet for Saturday breakfast? Any idea when it starts? I need to beat Lunny to the bagels because there will be none left. ;)

I have no clue when parking opens at the park. I'm thinking we plan to leave hotels no later than 9am and be ready to enter the park at opening. So maybe we start breakfast in shifts at 7:00 :confused3
