The Sweet Meet - Dis'ers do Hershey

I did see the trolley tour mentioned Don. Thanks for the suggestion.

We have never done the trolley tour but we did do the 3-d show. While neat it is not worth the full price of admission IMO. I would only do this if I had a good discount of some sort. We were lucky and did have a discount coupon at the time we did it. It is not something I would pay for again though.

We have never been to the museum but I think that would probably be a good stop if you have the time to learn about the history of Milton Hershey and the town. Also the hershey gardens.

Back in early June through the Hershey Park website (Contact us) I requested brochures on their park and Chocolate factory.

Today I received the following brochures.
Summer 2010 Only in Hershey
2010 Welcome Map & Guide - Hersheypark
Hershey's Chocolate World
The Hotel Hershey (looks really nice and I bet it's expensive)
Hershey Lodge (same as above)

Looks like I got a little reading for this weekend.

If anyone is interested you might have enought time to request these brochures.

My brother got his 4 free tickets from that Chevy site today. He picked an earlier date than when we all are going. So we know it works. :)

Great news! That would really be a great deal if we got the tickets free, since we are paying for 2 nights hotel, food, ect.. it does add up quickly!

You are so sweet to share the tickets - I wish I was able to do the same.

Thanks for the information.

The 3-Course Dinner Special does looks interesting for Thursday Night... but I'm not sure I will be up for it. Our Gettysburg tour is scheduled from 3 to 6 PM... Will have driven at least 8 hours that day too. I'm probably better off eating something quick but we may change our mine on the spur of the moment.

Hi all,

As mentioned previous post we have a Gettysburg tour schedule on Thursday 8/12 for 3 hours from 3PM to 6PM. The tour is for 1 to 6 people using our rental car. We should have room in the car for 2 or 3 additional people. If anyone would like to join us (no cost) please let me know.

We "hope" to arrive at Gettysburg National Military Park somewhere near 1:30 to 2:00PM... Have about a 7 hour drive to get there.

For visitors wishing a personalized tour, the Licensed Battlefield Guide service will provide you with a guide who will drive your personal vehicle around the park for a two hour long visit. Guided tours are very informative and historical knowledge of the guides is superb. Guides are assigned to personal vehicles from the Visitor Center desk on a first come, first served basis beginning at 8:00 AM each day. Guides may be reserved in advance for organized bus groups by calling toll free 1-877-874-2478 or fax 1-717-338-1244. A guide may also be reserved for individuals in cars. This may be the best choice for those visitors who have limited time to visit the park.

If you have not already done so you may want to lookup Hershey Park on Facebook.

They are currently promoting a their hot July Discount ($15.00 off)... I'm guessing August will also bring discounts too.

Hi Dodie,

Wanted your thoughts. Looks like we will be hitting Indianapolis somewhere between 5 & 6PM on Wednesday on our way to the Holiday Inn Express in Huber Heights, OH that evening. The following morning we will then be headed annother Holiday Inn Express for the night near Hershey before switching to the Comfort Suites early Friday.

Anyway I'm getting different directions from AAA (2 separate trip tickets - both different) and Mapquest as far as Indianapolis. Two of the have me staying on 70 right through Indy and one of the AAA has be taking the Southern Loop of I465.

What you you suggest?

Thanks,

Mark

Coming from Missouri?

I see no reason to detour to 465 south around Indy, even though you are coming through specifically at rush hour. I think that would take longer. I know it would add miles to your trip. Even at rush hour, I think your traffic situation would be about equal. 465 can be a zoo. There is a little bit of construction on I-70 on the west side of Indy near the airport that would make it tricky to catch 465 south anyway. (Getting through that construction zone itself isn't a big deal.)

Dodie,

Yes we are coming from St. Louis. We will be leaving work at 1:00PM. breaking up the drive to Hershey... no such luck on the return trip.

Thank you for your guidance,

Mark

I did the Chevy offer too and received my tickets just yesterday!!! :yay:

I don't think you *have* to use them on the day stated when you signed up for them. :confused3 Though, the offer is now closed.

I called to check on my tickets and they were mailed today! Woo Hoo!

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Please move me to the 99.745% definite list. Just need to make sure my ride from the airport to Hershey and back to the airport is still on board with the plan....(hear that Anne, I'm nudging you on this before I nudge about the cruise!!!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: )
