Doris called me this morning.....she has the stroller!!!!!!!! And it wasn't easy, again:

It took ANOTHER go-around with ASMo, to the point of a manager saying "We're not going to stop looking til we find it!"(and this is all at 1 AM this morning!) Well, they did find it, on a top shelf, then had to search again for the bag, which they also found....

She had some suggestions for the swap, which I'll cover later, but for now........We're back in swap-ness!

I Fedexed Doris today -- I sent her 2 Emergency info cards in plastic pouches, for the stroller & the bag....with plastic ties to attach to the basket under the stroller......I put my name & cell on it, since I'm about 2-1/2 hrs. from Orlando if there's a need to go up there....If anyone is a "local", & wouldn't mind being a standby, in case an emergency comes up, please PM me, OK?

I also sent a throw-away camera, cause she told me they didn't bring one---I told her she has to have her picture taken with the stroller.....I PMed Pete to ask if we could get a Stroller Swap Category on the DIS Photo Gallery.....I would love to see pics of everyone who's a user or sitter--Sort of a Picture Essay of the stroller's journey around Disney World.......I can help with downloading digital pics, & I have a scanner for prints...What do y'all think?

Hay Kathleen!
Great Idea! I was thinking the same thing--people getting their pictures taken with the "SwapStroller" to keep a record.:p
I know you and 2momof2/others had ideas for the strollerswap--some initial guidelines before committing to the swap...
Just some of my thoughts on the StrollerSwap--My DH said, what if the stroller doesn't last thru our vacation?...I said, well, I would replace it so that something could be passed on to the next person. Either a person could purchase one or "pickup" a stored/donated stroller so that the swap continues.
If one reads the StrollerSwap, and agrees to some initial guidelines? (that are coming together now), and, is familiar with them before signing up, there will be fewer glitches in time.
Anyway a BIG thanks to you, RileyGirl! and 2momof2 and all the others.
:D :D :D

Hi!
actually I have someone who has kindly offered to replace the stroller if the need arises, so that's cool. Also your dates are relatively close so the stroller should be good to stroll still. I am hoping though that it will be posted by swappers when it needs to be washed or the scrapbook supplies restocked, or the goodies are running low. We are all saving lugging a stroller or paying $7 a day for one so a few bucks shouldn't break anyone's bank.
We are constantly trying to work out back up plans, from poor KathleenFL driving up there to enlisting the help of a CM. It's hard to do much of anything being over 1000 miles away. I did inform DH that we had to MOVE to WDW since I was going to make this a business but he thinks I should stay with the Post Office for now. I tried explaining that WDW gets mail too but it just wouldn't fly! oh well...I'm working on him! lol
The problem with agreeing with set guidelines is just this: ok I agree.....then nothing...no pm's no emails no contact no nothing.... We go on the honor system and that's just it..Trust....I trust that every person's name that I enter on the list, right now I have 31 w/ 10 on stand-by plus back up sitters, will make there swaps on a timely matter, contact me with general info where staying (onsite), full name and a cell# and alert me,KathleenFL or Rileygirl of any problems contacting swappers and swappees or anything else they need help with. I try to contact pple at least 2 weeks in advance asking if the plans are in place, do they need help etc. Besides doing the actual swap for them there isn't much more that we can do.
The stroller is/was at ASMo and has been there since I dropped it off on 3/27! it was used and returned to luggage you'd think they know what it looked like by that point! Whatever the case we all just have to work together to keep it going somehow someway.
What started out as a nice thing for Rileygirl to do for me has turned into so much more. We have all put so much time, effort and L O V E into this darn thing! I guess it's true what they say....do one nice thing for someone and you will be rewarded tenfold... with this swap we all are rewarded over and over again.
We the "Swapper gang" will continue to try to make this the best thing ever to hit the DIS board families, we will get all the kinks worked out and have everything running smoothly...we're still new to this so it may hit a few snags every here and there but we are constatly trying to make it better.
Again,
thanks for your support!

Too cute!
This is so much fun! I was telling DH about it and showed him the list so far and he thought it was too funny and i got the "women" headshake with laugh. But... he totally agreed it was a neat thing to do. My dates weren't available but I told him I offered to "stroller sit" and he laughed again but then he got into it. He offered to drive it over to the next "stroller mama"! (you have to say it like "biker mama" to get the full effect. ;)
We would be happy to help out in any way!!

My DH and I will be at AS Music our first night and then over to VWL for 6 nights- May 9th- 16th if i can help in anyway please let me know.i would be more than glad to help out.we dont have any Kiddos yet but maybe sometime.

Rileygirl, mom2of2, and KathleenFL

I hope this last for a REAL long time, and people continue to offer their help and support with the project!!

keep up the good work!!

It's not all mamas on this swap list!!! :smooth:

We are staying in a villa with washer and dryer, so if the stroller needs the fabric washed we'll make sure that gets done. If it breaks during our term, I have no way of replacing it (unless Wal-Mart delivers) as we have no off-site transportation. Can you buy strollers at WDW?

Yeah I was just thinking that I could wash it when it was my turn because I am also staying in a VWL. MY DH thinks this is a great idea but he does think it is very funny also. I have my fingers crossed that things will go well with all the swapping until my dates in Feb 2004. :bounce:

oooppss sorry Shovelhd ;)
no offense! my most sincere apology.
accepted??
:)
