The "Strange Facts About Me" Thread.

1. I'm REALLY scared of a ton of things: elevators, the grates in sidewalks, snakes, spiders, the dark, most bugs, escalators, swimming in lakes/ponds/oceans (basically anything that isn't a pool), heights, the "emergency broadcast test" on radio and TV, bats.. oh boy. you name it, i'm probably scared of it. :sad2:

2. I was supposed to have a twin, but it miscarried when my mom was almost 5 months pregnant with us.

3. I get along with people my parents' age better than my own.. I'm pretty sure I should have grown up in the 60's/70's instead of the 80's/90's.

4. Certain food textures will make me throw up as soon as they hit my mouth. My fiance thought it would be funny to have me close my eyes and feed me a cherry tomato, telling me it was a grape.. one bite down, and I got sick all over his parents' kitchen floor. :scared1:

5. My mom's side of the family carries a genetic condition called Ectodermal Dysplasia.. if I have kids, theres' a 50% chance the kids would have the disorder. I'm pretty sure I don't want to risk it. (visit www.nfed.org if you're curious - it's an interesting disorder).

6. I scored a 35 on the English section of the ACT, and I love word games and puzzles. :thumbsup2
 
I don't think there are many strange things about me but my sister and I were born in the same year. I was born in January and she was born in December.

:thumbsup2 I think it is more cool than strange although when I tell people they usually have a weird look on their face.
My FIL made a comment to me when DS was 5 months old about not trusting breastfeeding as a form of birth control just look at DH and BIL......:lmao:

Due to adoption my brother and I are 8 months apart. It is amazing how many people over the years have asked "are you twins" ???? :eek::lmao:
 

Oh, fun! We've done this on some of my other boards!

1) I can wiggle my ears...together or just one at a time.

2) I've eaten a fried Cicada before...it tasted like a potato chip.

3) I used to be a zookeeper.

4) I like preschool shows as much as my preschooler does :lmao: .

I've become somewhat of an expert on the Civil War's Camp Pierpont (in Fairfax County Virginia) and it was all an accident.
I've had two dreams within the past couple of years that I am absolutely certain were precognitive warnings.
I helped people find missing family after Hurricane Katrina.
I was in the Hot Seat at the Millionaire attraction at the Studios twice and my DH was in the Hot Seat twice and we were the only couple *ever* to be in the Hot Seat for the same show.

Oh, I forgot something! And here it is...
I've touched a Tony Award.

1. I've worked at both Knott's Berry Farm and Disneyland.

2. I HATE onions and I won't eat them. I don't care how tiny they are or that there are too small to taste or that I won't notice them at all.

3. I love Funyuns.

4. When I was little, my dad force-fed me asparagus and made me eat them again after I chucked them up. I can't even smell asparagus now. My dad doesn't remember doing this.

5. I got married at Disneyland. This was at a time when neither I nor my husband worked for Disney.

6. I have the best job in the world.

7. I've touched and carried three Oscars. One was Walt Disney's.

8. I've never been to Hawaii.

9. Despite living less than 7 miles from it my whole life, I first visited the Queen Mary when I was 18.

10. I own less handbags than my husband owns in CDs. (This helps when one is asked, "Why do you even need more than one bag?" Simply answer, "Okay, then you only get to ever listen to one CD.")
 
I have shoulder dimples. When I was born, the doctor though my shoulders were dislocated. My son also has a should dimple and the doctor thought the same thing.

I can make an extremely loud "clucking" noise with my tongue.

My maiden is spelled wrong. It was spelled wrong on my dad's birth certificate and no one changed it.
 
1. I still have a baby tooth and I am in my late 30's.

2. I had blue hair in high school.

3. I met my DH while we were both performing at the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

What a fun topic, Ok here's mine!

1. I love to sew.
2. When I was in junior high school, my MOM took us all to see a Beatles concert.
3. I do not like snakes, or spiders.
4. I love to sit out in the middle of the night and watch the meteor showers.
5. I along with my husbands and his family, physically, helped to build 4 homes in 6 years and we are all still talking to each other.
6. During high school musical season, I go to all the high school musicals in the area in which I live.
7. I had a tour of "THE" Camp David (But if I told you anything about it, I'd have to kill ya, haha)

That's all I can think of for now.

3. I want to like yogurt, but I just don't.
4. I don't have a driver's license. I took the test 3 times, and never passed, and haven't been behind the wheel of a car since.
5. I have never seen a whole Godfather movie, but since my last name is Italian, everybody talks to me about them.
6. I've barely watched the Sopranos, but again, people used to talk to me about it all the time
7. I love iced tea, but hate hot tea
8. I love hot coffee, but can't stand iced coffee
 
I've been to Vegas twice for work, but never actually stepped foot inside a Vegas casino :)

I am regretting not going to Rome this week for the pool! This is the first major meet my DH and I haven't worked in five years. A little sad, but we had other stuff going on!

I want to step on six continents before I get pregnant with a first baby. Five down ... I am almost there. #6 next April.

I almost joined the United States Foreign Service, made it through orals to A-100, but chickened out due to future earning power. I still regret that from time to time. I would like, before I die, to do something substantial in service to the US.

I am on my seventh year of grad school procrastination.

I love the color green and wear it a lot!

I find bucatini a far more interesting pasta than spaghetti.

I married my emotional polar opposite and it is fantastic!

I want to be a CEO.

When I retire, I am going to take a ton of violin lessons.

5. I can sing the entire score to Les Miserables from memory (songs and dialogue).

1. I was a hair model once (around 7 ish?) and I remember all the foreign people talking (especially chinese people) and snapping their flashes (was on a stage). Was told my pic was all over the place.

2. was the nerdiest teen in town and ended up being one of the first Mall models.

3. My daughter got me listening to Marilyn Manson and now he is my favorite singer.

4. Sebastian Bach from Skid Row said oooooo baby into a mic to my pre med/kid hiney as I was being pulled over a baracade. :)

5. I collect anything "cat"

6. I seem to have a zoo in our back yard like bear, dear, raccon, beaver, muskrat (have a pond), duck (had a family), geese( tried to have a family this year)but muskrat ran them off), skunk, a link once, rabbit, wolves, wild cats, and the common animals and I will be sad to see them go when I finally move.

7. I have a fear of little holes, if I see a certain kind or think about them at times they will throw me into a down right full anxiety attack.

this is just a little something... id like to brag about hubby and kids.... not much to brag about myself on
 
I have a picture of myself taken at a longhouse in Borneo having rice wine with descendants of headhunters, with a grouping of skulls hanging from the ceiling over my head.

I have light, scary green eyes.

I lived in a different state than my husband for the first year of our marriage.

I can whistle really loud with my fingers in my mouth, and I embarrass my husband quite often with this talent.

My mother comes from the same lineage as Prince Rainier Grimaldi of Monaco. As the story goes, the Grimaldi family seized Monaco in the late 1200's by posing as monks seeking shelter, and then killing everyone in the fortress as they slept. And if you met some of the people in my mom's family, you'd know they are definitely related. :rotfl:
 
1) I occasionally had chats with Paul Newman.
2) I worked for a short period at the Department of Energy's "Nevada Test Site" where they used to conduct nuclear weapons testing.
3) I backpacked above the Arctic Circle when I was 14.
4) When I was about 10 years old my parents put me by myself on the Delta Queen steamboat during the annual Kentucky Derby festival steamboat race. There I befriended a couple and one of them turned out to be a writer for the AP. He wrote a news wire story about me enjoying the race, and my parents were surprised to see a story about me featured in newspapers around the country the next day.
5) I too can pop my shoulder in and out of join at will... it's a great party trick that'll occasionally make people almost puke or pass out.
6) I can turn my feet about 45 degrees backwards (though it's a little trickier since having my knee scoped).
