the steelers

If you watched the game you would see that Kimo was diving at Carson Palmer prior to being touched by Eric Steinbach. Plus if you are being blocked into someone you don't wrap on the tackle. For you non football people that is when you use your arms to make the tackle. Watch, on the tackle he grabs the left leg. That is a truly DIRTY PLAY!!! Maybe not intentional, but still dirty.

As far as CBS sports goes I may never watch another football game on there again , could they stroke the Steeler's anymore... As far as the second half goes, the Bengals were terrible!!!

I hope Pittsburgh gets what is coming to them in Indy next week!!!!!!!!!

I do too! If they get what they deserve, they'll be on their way to the Bowl shortly!

I think your TV and mine must have showed a different game. :rotfl2:

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but next to my number 1 team
The Denver Broncos
The Steelers are my 2nd favorite team.
I think they play with class, I think the injury on Palmer was unintentional, I think Jerome Bettis and Cowher are awesome!

I agree!! I hate Steeler fans specifically, who believe you are a traitor if you dont believe the Stillers are GODS!! It has been 26 YEARS since they have won their last Super Bowl but I know people who are still wearing jerseys from then, waiting for 1 for the thumb. I also dislike the Rooneys. They have done very little toward the city in terms of charity. They have the best example of a giving owner in Mario Lemieux. who has raised millions for his numerous charities. In return, most Stiller fans cant wait to get rid of the Penguins, let alone support them. (by the way, the last championship we have seen in Pittsburgh was the Stanley Cup, not a Super bowl win.)

Big FAT Ditto to everything you just wrote. It drives me nuts that all the yinzers can't wait to see the Pens run out of town. Then 5 years from now we'll build a new arena when we have no hockey team.

If you recall support for the new stadiums (baseball and football) was very underwhelming! We are a small market and it is very tough to support 3 pro sports teams. Compare the cost to take a family of 4 to a hockey game and to a baseball game. You are talking about $400 (hockey) in comparison to $200 for (baseball.) Plus the hockey team does not have the history in this city that the other sports do. Also, the NHL is suffering in many markets not just Pittsburgh. Time will tell what will happen to the Pens. I hope that they don't leave but in a city with ever declining population and in such financial distress it is very hard to justify spending so much on a new arena so that you can have more luxury boxes!

WAHHHHHHHHH

Play dirty? Examples (oh yes, the Defensive Lineman was blocked into Palmer)? I feel terrible for Palmer - a great guy having a fabulous year, but it was not dirty.

WAHHHHHHHHH

And I am no Steelers fan. They are outplaying the Bengals and pushing them around.

Whether or not the guy was upset that was one dirty tackle. I have no stake in either team but you can't hug the leg and hold down the foot like that.

Funny how none of the announcers or other players or coaches have the same opinion. It was not a dirty hit. Unfortunate, but accidental.

I guess you wouldnt think Disney on Ice would use a new arena. Or maybe we could have seen Paul McCartney last year. (he didnt come here because the arena was too decrepid). How about a NCAA Final Four tourney (im sorry only football counts in Pgh). How about a National Convention, with the millions in revenue it could bring! I guess we could hold all of those events at Heinz Field!! Instead we are paying for a facility that is used for 10 Steeler games (no playoff games this year) and 5 Pitt games. I guess that was a good investment for a city in "such great distress". Oh by the way , how much does it cost a family of 4 to go to to a Steeler game? I have season tix to all the major sports in town (Bucs, Pens, Stillers and my beloved Pitt BB and FB teams), and Steelers tix have cost me the most when you factor in the Rooneys extortion seat licence fee. So please, dont be like all the other yinzers and believe that only Heinz Field is necessary in our fine city!

By the way, Pens tix start at $25, so it wouldnt take $400 to take a family of 4. (they are actually great seats, too). Our 6 year old adores seeing the Pens, especially Sid the Kid.

DD was one of the few kids in her elementary not wearing Steelers clothes to school Friday. I did force myself to buy her one last year (I'm a Brown's fan!) but she didn't think about wearing it. My older kids are sick of the media hype and were hoping the Steelers would lose. It is pretty sad with all the things going on that a Steeler's injury is the top news story some nights. I do think the sports worship is out of control.

LOVE THE BUS
He is one of the classiest football players I have ever seen and anyone who says differently doesnt know anything about him.

PROUD TO BE A STEELER FAN!
We stick with our team and sell out every game whether we win or lose.
It's called team pride and support.
Not being a fair weather fan.

just my two cents. :teeth:

 :cool1:

I will say...I thought the walk over was a bad thing. but the injury to Palmer was an accident....Kimo was blocked into him. ::yes:: And if you saw the replay, he was very upset that he was hurt.

And there were two teams playing dirty the first quarter..not just one.
I was glad to see they both settled down after the half.

First Mickey, I totally agree!!! And I love your Steeler Mickey! :cool1:

I have been a Steelers fan for years. I admit I quit watching the games for a few of those because I thought I was jinxing them, LOL! But really, I am a fan and also admire them. I have started watching the games again and plan on doing so for a long time.
Someone mentioned something about them doing little towards the city in terms of charity but what about the work some of them have done for kids, etc.? I have recently had a chance to witness their charity and generosity up close and personal and they will have my undying support until the day I die.
Go Steelers!

Disney on Ice uses the current arena. How about the current arena has held regional NCAA tourny events twice in the past 10 years (sponsored by my beloved Duquesne U.) How about there is a brand new convention center for events!?!?! We can't attract bigger conventions because there is a serious lack of hotel rooms in the CBD (Central Business District) and terrible access into the city from other areas. Heinz Field has held other concerts as has PNC Park. Heinz Field is used for other events (WPIAL championships) and corporate parties, etc. that do give it additional revenue. BTW, as a season ticket holder you should know that there are only ~10 Steeler games a year as opposed to 5 times that for hockey making it much more of special event. I didn't say that Heinz Field was the only thing that this city needs. I think that the "new" stadiums are beautiful but I was opposed to their construction. I don't feel that a new arena is going to be a life saving measure for the Pens or this city. Like or not (I'm sure that as a hockey fan you don't) but this truly is not a hockey town. It does not hold the appeal of football or baseball (which has it's own problems.) I'm not of the attitude of "Pens - who cares" but I do think that this city and region needs to redirect itself into attracting the young people who live here to stay here! Not just recouping Mario's losses. I think Mario Lemeiux is a wonderful person and has done alot for this region. I just don't feel that the Pens are the salvation that this city needs!

Sorry that this got off topic!

Not the Steelers players themselves, but the almighty Rooney family! The players are great, especially Bettis, El and my fav, Alan Faneca.

doc428,
Alan Faneca is one of the Steelers I was specifically referring to. He is awesome, isn't he?!

Have you ever seen footage of Jerome Bettis off the field or seen him when he's co-sportcasting? He is a force to be reconed with on the field but off, he's actually very humble and genuine.

AMEN! Good to see I am not the only Pittsburgher who feels this way. If I hear the Steeler fight song one more time today I am going to scream.

Da-Da-Da-Da-Ta-Da - Charge!

We're from the town with the great football team.
We cheer the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Winning's a habit, not only a dream.
Go out and get them Steelers.

sorry...couldnt resist! ;)

i have never been a steelers fan but as of tonight's game against the bengals, i can officially say i HATE them. anyone else?

Sour grapes ::yes::

i am a Steelers fan. always have been always will be. so heres what i have to say. i dont care what you think. i just felt i needed to say it.

-Cowher is one of the best coaches in the NFL

-i love the Bus, Big Ben, Fast Willie, and the rest of my boys

-the do NOT play dirty. its called gravity---big guys (anyone actually) go flying when they're running and jump. you try it sometime. i dare you. see what happens.

-they are NOT unsportsmanlike. it was just coincidence that you happened to see the throwing the football thing. not like the bengals or any other team in the NFL is innocent either.

-this whole year we have had so many things happen against our team for no reason. do we complain? of course we do but who doesnt. but if we lose, we take it and move on. ya gotta learn to let go

-they WILL get that one for the thumb under coach Cowher and prove you all wrong.

-loyal - adj.
1. Steadfast in allegiance to one's homeland, government, or TEAM.
2. Faithful to a person, ideal, custom, cause, or duty.
3. Of, relating to, or marked by loyalty.

-we dont worship. we are loyal. thats what sports fans do. (speaking of...nobody "worships" the pirates anymore. they did start out good this season but flopped. oh well.)
